Design Thinking Repository Services: ​ Lessons Learned From Ualbany’S Covid-19 And Minority Health Disparities In Nys Collection And Scholars Archive, Emily Kilcer, Lindsay Van Berkom

University Libraries Faculty Scholarship

In April 2020, the University at Albany was commissioned to study the factors causing disproportionate harm from COVID-19 for New York Latinx and Black individuals. Thirty-five interdisciplinary UAlbany Engaged Researchers partnered with colleagues and community organizations to research solutions to these disparities.

The UAlbany Libraries’ Scholarly Communication Team recognized the opportunity to collect, preserve, and distribute this Minority Health Disparities (MHD) project’s assets from the University’s repository, Scholars Archive.

Following early conversations with the project lead, an expert in digital government, the author successfully demonstrated the repository’s value. With her support, and with a design thinking approach, the authors …

This study examined Wikipedia edit-a-thon programme in a University Library in Nigeria. It adopted the descriptive design. Unstructured questionnaire and interview were used for data collection. A total of 25 people participated in the study. These are the University Librarian and two female deputy University Librarians, four library staff that serve as facilitators and eighteen participants of the edit-a-thon project. Interview was conducted with the University Librarian and her two deputies while the rest responded to an unstructured questionnaire. Data gathered were analysed using frequency counts and narrative. The study attempts to examine the use of library resources and services among U.G. students in Paramakalyani College Library, Alwarkurichi. The questionnaire was used as the core research instrument.140 copies of the questionnaire were circulated to the students; the return rate was 80%. The significant findings were; that the majority of the U.G. students use the library regularly. Their primary purpose in visiting the library is to consult research materials. They were also satisfied with the library services. Suggestions were offered to improve the library service.

The study examined the relationship that exists between academic resilience and information literacy self-efficacy among final year pre-service school librarians in a selected University in Nigeria. This study adopted the correlational survey research design. Through multistage sampling technique, 60 final year students of Library and Information science were selected. The questionnaires such as Academic Resilience Scale (ARS) and Information Literacy Self-Efficacy Scale (ILSES) were used to collect data. Linear regression was used to test the null hypotheses. The study aims at investigating the awareness and usage of electronic resources among undergraduates of Fountain University, Osun State, Nigeria. Three research questions were answered and three null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study and systematic sampling technique was used to select 1000 undergraduates. Simple percentage and frequency table was used to analyse the research questions, while Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) was used for testing the hypotheses.
