Investigative research, focused on users' perception and use of serial materials, was conducted in academic libraries at Kwara State University library, Nigeria. The study population consisted of users in the respective faculties. A stratified random sampling method was used to select the sample. A questionnaire dealing with users' perception and use of serial materials was conducted on 4500 users registered in the Kwara State University library. Ford argues that proprietary publishing has influenced many of the processes in the scholarly publishing ecosystem, resulting in a need to reapply the values of human inquiry to scholarly communications. Outreach and instruction librarians at the University of New Mexico, Main Campus launched the asynchronous, online Virtual Open House program during the 2021 lockdown in order to transition from “before-times” in-person tours to the paradigm of fully remote services. After a successful pilot, the program has continued as a sustainable, longer-term solution to staffing constraints even after University Libraries reopened to the public. This file collection captures planning documents and other program artifacts that will prove useful in replicating this event at other libraries.

The authors examine specifically the institutional characteristics, the utilization of the associated data sets and the relevant research data management services at its participating university libraries. This evidence-based approach is essential for understanding the current state of research data management practices in the global context. Mixed forces shaped global publishing activity in 2021. The spread of different COVID-19 variants throughout the world still caused hardship and widespread social distancing. At the same time, the rollout of vaccines helped to contain the pandemic’s impact and enabled a recovery of the global economy, which grew by around 6 percent in 2021.
