Effect Of Alcohol Treatment On In Situ Degradabilities Of Some Protein Sources, B. Zehra Sariçi̇çek

This study was conducted to determine the effect of alcohol treatment on in situ degradabilities of some protein sources. While the dry matter degradabilities (DMP) of hazelnut kernel oil meal (HKOM), soybean meal (SBM), sunflower meal (SM) and full-fat soy (FFS) for 24 hour incubation period were found to be 86.06, 86.01, 70.66 and 70.21 %, the corresponding values for alcohol treatment were 74.63, 79.41, 61.26 and 63.41%, respectively. Parafilariosis In Cattle In Malatya And Environs, Cem Ecmel Şaki̇, Murat Sevgi̇li̇, Edi̇p Özer

This study was conducted in cattle on Malatya and environs. A total of 432 cattle were clinically examined for cattle parafilariosis. Cattle parafilariosis was clinically diagnosed in 22 cattle in August 1995, six cattle in September 1995, two cattle in July 1996, one cattle in August 1996, and one cattle in August 1997. Thirty-two out of 432 cattle (7.4%) were diagnosed as having the disease. Upon the microscopic examination of blood samples from wounds, 18 microfilariae were found whereas no eggs were found in 10 cattle. The aims of this study were to determine whether GnRH would induce ovulation in dairy cows and to detect the acute changes in the serum luteinizing hormone (LH) after GnRH administration on day 14 postpartum. The research was performed to investigate effects of calving season and lactation order on milk yield components and changing of milk components with lactation stage in Simmental cows. Milk samples were taken at AM milkings in 30±15^{th}, 90±15^{th}, 150±15^{th} and 210±15^{th} days of lactations. Lactation stages' effect was found significant level statistically on only the rate of total solid matter (TSM). This research was carried out to determine the transferrin (Tf) and haemoglobine (Hb) and milk protein (alfa-S_1-casein, beta casein, capa casein, beta lactoglobuline) types, and relationships between Tf and Hb types and milk protein genotypes with various characteristics. The relationship between Tf types and milk yields of control milking and control day were only statistically significant (P0.05). None of the investigated characteristics were effected by milk protein genetic variants at statistically significant level.

The 42 honey bee colonies collected from 5 apiaries at 4 different localities in the Central Anatolia and breeder stock of Turkish Development Foundation (TKV) were used as the material of this research. The 32 morphological characteristics were determined for the Central Anatolian ecotypes (A. m. anatoliaca) obtained from Kırşehir, Beypazarı, Çankırı and Eskişehir and for the Caucasian race (A. m. caucasica). Monthly live weights and heights at withers of Brown Swiss and Holstein heifers were compared in the period from birth to 18 months of age between 1991 and 1994. This study was carried out under harsh climatic conditions of Erzurum, situated in North-Eastern Anatolia with an altitude of 1950 m. The Morphometric Examination Of Humerus In German Shepherd Dogs, Vedat Onar, Oya Kahveci̇oğlu

In this study, a total of 35 humerus bones of German shepherd puppies of ages between 40-105 days were used. The humerus index was 23.90 ± 1.055 for female and 23.18 ± 0.938 for male dogs. When a t-test was conducted on the humerus index between males and females, a significant difference was found of P < 0.05. When the relationship between humerus index and bone length was observed, the ratio was 29.53 ± 1.181 in females and 28.60 ± 1.551 in males.

Different salting techniques were used on Maraş cheese samples produced from cow's, ewe's and a mixture (1:1) of cow and ewe's milk. In the first group, samples were immersed 22% the brine solution for 3 hours then transferred into 10 % brine solution. Some Properties Of Purified And Non-Purified Rumen Tissue Arginase In Cattle, Mi̇ne Eri̇şi̇r, Sema Temi̇zer Ozan

Some biochemical properties of purified and non-purified rumen tissue arginase were compared. Homogenization, heating, treatment with aceton, precipitation with ammonium sulfate, dialysis, several centrifugations, gel filtration on sephadex G-200 processes were utilized in the purification procedure of the enzyme. It was found that pre-incubation temperature (60 °C) of arginase and Km (4mM) to its substrate, L-arginine, did not change before and after purification. While pre-incubation period was 10 min and optimal pH 9.7 before purification, pre-incubation period was found to be 5 min and optimal pH 10 after purification. In this study 57 cows at the puerperal stage (between 15-45 days) and at early pregnancy period (between 8-58 days) were subjected to clinical and Ultrasonography check at 10-day intervals. On the 8 th day of post insemination (p.ins.) areas of nidation ranging from 0,5-1,5 cm were established by means of US (n=53) and on 40 animals (70,2%) the development of these areas were followed until the 58th day of pregnancy. The various physiological characters of Caucasian, C. Anatolian and Erzurum honeybee (A. mellifera L.) genotypes in the conditions of Erzurum were examined in this study. The survival rates of genotypes for the wintering and production periods were found to be 81.82 % and 70.00 %, 90.00 % and 77.78 %, 100.00 % and 90.00% respectively. During the wintering period, 18.18 % and 10.00 % of colonies in Caucasian and C. Anatolian groups respectively died; but no colony from the Erzurum group was lost.
