Cryptosporidium spp. is the most frequent agent in Algeria that causes neonatal diarrhea in calves, with high symptomatic diarrhea in pre-weaned dairy calves. The study aims to measure the prevalence, distribution, and genotype of Cryptosporidium-infected calves in one of Algeria's high milk production areas (North Central and Northeast). From 35 dairy cattle farms were selected 172 (77 with diarrheic and 95 without diarrheic symptoms) calves aged less than 60 days. Twenty-three farms (65.71%) were detected with cryptosporidiosis using a modified Ziehl-Neelsen stain, whereby 68 calves (39.53%) were obtained positive. Among the heterogeneous Pasteurellaceae family, Pasteurella multocida and Mannheimia haemolytica are the pathogenic species that cause enzootic pneumonia in cattle and sheep. This study aimed to characterise Pasteurella and Mannheimia species obtained from pneumonia cases in cattle and sheep. 100 cattle and 100 sheep lungs diagnosed with infectious pneumonia as a result of histopathological examination were analyzed for Pasteurellaceae members by phenotypic methods, VITEK 2 Compact system and PCR. Antibiotic susceptibilities and phylogenetic analysis of the isolates were done by VITEK 2 Compact System and 16S rRNA-PCR, respectively. Psittacine beak and feather disease virus (PBFDV) is a significant viral pathogen affecting the development of beak and feather cells, leading to feather abnormalities in avian species. This study aimed to investigate the molecular detection rate of PBFDV among Psittaciformes in Iran and to evaluate the influence of factors such as sex, species, season, and bird origin on PBFDV prevalence. Genetic diseases play an increasingly important role in cattle breeding as breeding technologies such as artificial insemination has an inborn risk of disseminating deleterious genes, especially from high merit breeding sires. Cholesterol deficiency (CD) is a metabolic disorder first recognized in Holstein cattle in 2015. The condition is characterized by chronic diarrhea and unthriftiness in calves being homozygous for the defective allele. This study aimed to investigate Listeria species in various samples taken from aborted sheep in Kars province and to determine the position of emerged strains in the phylogenetic tree. Milk (n= 229) and vaginal swab (n= 263) samples from aborted sheep and abomasum contents (n= 46) of aborted sheep fetuses were investigated by the culture and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) methods. This study aimed to understand the related statistics of APV and PBFDV in parrots, such as the positive percentage and the distributions of various ages, seasons, breeds and areas, in order to obtain more information on the health care of captive parrots in Taiwan today. The scope of this research was determination of Rhodococcus equi isolates and antimicrobial susceptibilities in nasal swab specimen taken from animals between 0 and 6 months of age period. R. equi was identified from 10 isolates (11.1%) by automatic identification device. The verification of isolates were conducted by 16S ribosomal RNA PCR. VapA gene presence was detected in two (20%) isolates and multidrug resistance was identified against 11 antimicrobials. Chlamydia suis is an important, highly prevalent, and diverse obligate intracellular pathogen infecting pigs. In order to investigate the prevalence and diversity of C. suis in the U.S., 276 whole blood samples from feral swine were collected as well as 109 fecal swabs and 60 whole blood samples from domestic pigs. C. suis-specific peptide ELISA identified anti-C. suis antibodies in 13.0% of the blood of feral swine (26/276) and 80.0% of the domestic pigs (48/60). The objective of this study was to detect Mycoplasma bovis specific antibodies using a recently reported MilA ELISA with the aim to detect M. bovis antibodies in milk. An indirect ELISA, based on a recombinant fragment of the Mycoplasma immunogenic lipase A (MilA) protein, was conducted on 291 milk samples for the detection of M. bovis antibodies. Samples were also tested with conventional Mycoplasma culture and M. bovis PCR. Samples were collected from individual cows from 2 commercial dairy herds in South Australia. This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the prevalence of Trypanosoma evansi infection and its associated risk factors in camels in the Jazan region, southwestern Saudi Arabia. A total of 679 blood samples were collected from three local breeds of camel – Awadia, Awarkia and Sawahelle – in 11 randomly selected governorates of Jazan region. Blood samples were screened by Giemsa-stained blood film (GSBF) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques. The aim of this study was to determine tuberculosis (Tb) agents in milk and the pathologic changes in the tissues and organs of 100 PPD Tb-positive cows that were intended for slaughter. Milk samples were taken before slaughtering and PCR analysis was conducted to detect the Tb agent. In postmortem examinations, the lungs, liver, mammary glands, spleen, kidneys, and heart were collected for macroscopic and histopathological examinations. Sarcocystis species are the most commonly encountered parasitic organisms in animals. Sarcocystis hominis (Sarcocystis bovihominis), the species found in beef cattle, is not visible macroscopically in muscle tissue. In recent years it has been established that, in addition to being a zoonotic parasite transmitted via the consumption of beef, the parasite produces toxins and causes food poisoning. Seventy-eight unhealthy and forty-two apparently healthy looking freshwater aquarium fish belonging to twenty-six different species were collected from local aquarium stores in different cities and were investigated for the presence of mycobacteria in north-western Iran by culture and molecular methods. Using the culture method, Mycobacterium sp. was isolated from 31.6% of the fish (38 cases), while it was obtained in 30.8% (37 cases) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay for a 439 bp fragment of the heat shock protein 65kD gene (hsp65). The purposes of this study were to investigate plasmid profiles of the isolated virulent (VapA positive) agents by RFLP and to determine the quantitative aspects of Rhodococcus equi in the feces of adult horses and foals, as well as in soil. The frequency of detection of R. equi and virulent R. equi in fecal samples and soil was studied from 20 farms in the Şanlıurfa region. A total of 315 samples were examined. This study was conducted to determine the contamination sources, serotyping profiles, and antibiotic resistance patterns of Listeria monocytogenes isolated during the production of pickled white cheese. The genetic-relatedness of the isolates to EGD SLCC (5835) (1/2a, lineage II) and ATCC (13932) (4b, lineage I) reference strains was also determined with pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) as a result of digestions with AscI and ApaI enzymes. Samples were collected from 16 different points in the production process of 4 different plants at 3 different times. Canine leishmaniasis (CanL) is a protozoal disease caused by Leishmania species. Dogs play an important role as a reservoir. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of CanL by molecular and serological techniques among stray dogs living in kennels in Aydın, Manisa, and İzmir, located in western Turkey. Blood samples were collected from a total of 191 dogs and analyzed using indirect immunofluorescence antibody test (IFAT) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The aim of this study was to determine the molecular mechanisms of fluoroquinolone resistance in E. Coli isolated from cattle, goats, sheep, cats, and dogs in Turkey. Twenty nonreplicate E. Coli isolates (chosen on the basis of RAPD pattern) from food-producing animals were selected for the study. To identify phenotypic differences between isolates, the sum of the MIC values of 14 antimicrobials was calculated; values ranged from 565 to 2520 μg/mL, indicating the diversity in antimicrobial resistance present in the panel of isolates. The objective of this study was to investigate the conception rates achieved with the transfer of in-vivo–derived sexed and unsexed Holstein bovine embryos to appropriate recipients and to determine the accuracy of nonelectrophoretic PCR sexing. Seven-day-old embryos were derived in vivo by the nonsurgical flushing of the uterus. Before being vitrified and frozen some of the embryos obtained were sexed, while others were not sexed and were maintained as the control group. The present study was designed to determine genotypes of adipocyte determination and differentiation-dependent factor 1 (ADD1)/sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1c (SREBP1c) in South Anatolian Red (SAR) and East Anatolian Red (EAR) cattle. Fifty cattle from the SAR breed and 43 cattle from the EAR breed were used. Intron 7 of the ADD1/SREBP1c gene containing an 84 bp indel mutation was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
