A 3-year-old domestic shorthair cat presented with severe diffuse skin lacerations and cutaneous nodules with purulent discharge. Primary immune-mediated panniculitis was diagnosed. After surgical excision of the lesions, immunosuppressive therapy with prednisolone and mycophenolate mofetil was initiated. The cutaneous lesions resolved, and no recurrence was observed over a 2-year follow-up period.

This study investigated the impact of intra- and extracellular trehalose on the developmental competence of feline oocytes following cryopreservation. A 1-year-old intact male ragdoll weighing 5.9 kg was presented for general wellness examination and castration. Upon physical examination, neither testes could be palpated in the scrotum. Blood test results (complete blood cell count, serum biochemistry and electrolyte analysis) showed no remarkable findings. Radiographic and ultrasound examination did not detect the right kidney and testis in the abdominal cavity. However, we were unable to visualize the right kidney and testis in the abdominal cavity. A 6-month-old, 4.45 kg, intact, male domestic shorthair cat was presented with a gingival mass located on the left rostral maxilla and second left upper premolar tooth. Intraoral x-ray of the left rostral maxilla revealed left maxilla bone lysis with a unilocular cystic lesion. The cytology result revealed an epithelial cell tumor .A left rostral maxillectomy was performed and the tumor was submitted for histological assessment .Histopathological diagnosis of the tissue revealed a feline inductive odontogenic tumor .There was no evidence of tumor recurrence 24 months after surgery.

Background: The study objective was to examine cat owner ectoparasiticide purchases in the United States and estimate the impact of purchase gaps on timely ectoparasite protection administration. These purchase gaps lead to periods of time when cats are unprotected from ectoparasites.

Methods: Ectoparasiticide purchase transactions for individual cats from 671 U.S. veterinary clinics from January 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019 were evaluated to determine time “gaps” between doses of ectoparasiticides purchased in a defined 12-month period. Merkel cell tumors, a type of cutaneous round-cell tumors, are rarely observed in dogs and cats. This tumor type originates from cutaneous neuroendocrine cells. In the present study, the morphology of canine and feline Merkel cell tumors and their immunoexpression of neuron-specific enolase, cytokeratin, chromogranin A, Ki67, and metallothionein were evaluated using histopathological and immunohistochemical methods. The canine Merkel cell tumor displayed a diffuse morphological pattern, whereas the feline tumor displayed a solid morphological pattern. Successful treatment of Microsporum canis infection in a 8 - year – old, male Thai - mixed breed cat using a fungal vaccine containing inactivated M. canis by 3 subcutaneously injection 14 days apart was reported. A reduction of the lesions and hair regrowth had improved by day 14 after the first injection. There were no adverse effects in the cat during the entire treatment. The results of this study indicate that an inactivated M. canis vaccine may be effective therapy for M. canis infection.

The objective of this study was to examine the expression of 4 clinically-important Mex systems including MexAB-OprM, MexCD-OprJ, MexEF-OprN and MexXY in the Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates from dogs and cats. The isolates exhibited high level of resistance to multiple antibiotics clinically important. All of them simultaneously overexpressed up to three different Mex systems, including MexAB-OprM, MexEF-OprN and MexXY as determined by RT-PCR. None of the isolates overexpressed MexCD-OprJ.
