This study aimed to determine the optimal concentration of mulberry leaf powder (MLP) supplementation and to evaluate the impact of different seasons on the growth performance, carcass characteristics, and blood lipid levels of Pradu-Hang-Dam chickens. One-week-old chickens were assigned to three groups: a control group (without MLP) and two groups receiving diets supplemented with 0.5% and 1.5% MLP, respectively, over a 10-week period. The results indicated that during the cool season, the control group exhibited the highest feed intake, average daily gain, and superior carcass characteristics (P < 0.05). In the rainy season, chickens supplemented with 1.5% MLP achieved the highest feed intake, while those supplemented with 0.5% MLP showed the highest average daily gain and the lowest feed conversion ratio (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the 1.5% MLP group demonstrated superior carcass characteristics compared to the control group during the rainy season (P < 0.05). Analysis of blood lipid metabolism revealed that the group supplemented with 0.5% MLP during the cool season had the lowest levels of triglycerides, cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein. In conclusion, the cool season is the most favorable for raising Pradu-Hang-Dam chickens in Thailand. Additionally, supplementing diets with at least 0.5% MLP during the rainy season can improve growth performance, carcass characteristics, and blood parameters.

The aim of this study was to determine growth performance, duodenal histomorphology, and some biochemical parameters in quails' diets containing coated calcium sodium butyrate (CSB). One hundred sixty 1-day-old Japanese quails were arranged into four trial groups consisting of 5 replicates with eight chicks per replicate. Two fat sources, soybean oil (SO) and refined poultry oil (RPO), and 4 emulsifiers (control, lysolecithin, lysophospholipid, and bile acids) were used in this experiment. Thirteen hundred and sixty (1360) birds (ROSS - 308) were divided into 8 groups having 5 replicates, 34 birds in each. Energy efficiency, feed conversion (FCR), and protein efficiency ratios were improved in birds receiving SO than RPO diets. Weight gain, FCR, feed intake, and dressing percentage were increased in broiler birds receiving bile acid than those given lyso-phospholipid and lysolecithin (p < 0.05). Cooking loss was greater (p < 0.05) in broiler birds given RPO than those fed SO. Birds receiving bile acid had greater (p < 0.05) water holding capacity of chest meat than other fat emulsifiers. Bile acids in broiler diet presented higher (p < 0.05) digestibility of crude protein and ether extract as compared to other treatments. Bile acid supplemented diets had a minimum (p < 0.05) cost of production per kg live weight than other fat emulsifiers. Therefore, the use of bile acids with RPO diets can increase nutrient digestibility, growth performance, meat quality, and economic efficiency in broiler production systems.

An experiment was conducted to optimize the effect of concentrate levels on growth performance in Nili-Ravi buffalo heifers. These animals (n = 30), aged 4-6 months, were divided into three treatment groups (A, B, C) and were offered concentrate at the rate of 0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5% of body weight for an 8-month period, respectively. The statistical data showed a significant (P < 0.01) effect on dry matter intake among all treatment groups. However, dietary treatments showed a nonsignificant effect on body weight gain. Treatment A showed a better (P < 0.01) feed conversion ratio (10.01 - 0.55) compared to treatment B (11.75 - 0.79) and C (12.85 - 0.74). The average body condition score, body measurements, and blood profiles were not affected by varying levels of concentrate. However, total serum protein was found lower (P < 0.01) in treatment A compared with the other two treatment groups. The cost for production per kg gain was 80.8% higher in treatment C and 46.6% higher in treatment B compared to treatment A. It can be concluded that buffalo heifers can be reared cost-effectively on a minimum concentrate level (0.5% of body weight) along with ad libitum green fodder.

The aim of this study was to determine growth performance, meat quality, and oxidative changes in breast muscles depending on the genotype and age of broiler chickens. Piglets were allocated to 1 of 3 treatments by body weight and sex, and fed different levels of 0%, 0.15%, and 0.30% of R. oligosporus 1.0 x 106 cfu/g, in a basal diet based on corn-soybean meal for 35 days. Piglets fed diets supplemented with R. oligosporus had higher average daily gain during days 15-35 and 1-35 (quadratic, P < 0.05). Feed conversion ratio during 1-35 days showed a significant improvement, as dietary R. oligosporus supplementation increased from 0.15% to 0.30% (linear, P < 0.05). Apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of crude protein (CP) was increased at 2 weeks, as dietary R. oligosporus supplementation increased significantly (linear and quadratic, P < 0.05), and ATTD of dry matter, CP, and energy were linearly increased at 5 weeks (P < 0.05). The serum IgG concentration was significantly increased in the R. oligosporus-fed groups (quadratic, P < 0.05). Fecal Lactobacillus counts were significantly increased quadratically and coliform bacteria counts were decreased linearly, as dietary R. oligosporus supplementation increased (P < 0.05). In conclusion, diets containing R. oligosporus may improve the growth performance, nutrient digestibility, IgG concentration, and intestinal environment in weanling pigs.

The effect of tilapia diet supplemented with activated charcoal (AC) on growth performance and intestinal morphology of Nile Tilapia was examined. The fish were divided into four groups: a control group and three AC-supplementation groups (1%, 2% and 3% of AC in diet), and fed approximately 3% of body weight twice a day for 30 days. Growth performance and intestinal villus height were measured. Results revealed that the 2% AC-supplemented diet group was significantly (P<0.05) better in terms of percentage weight gain, specific growth rate (SGR) and feed conversion ratio (FCR), among the experimental groups. The foregut and midgut villus height of the 3% and 2% AC-supplemented diet groups was similar, but was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). Consequently, the supplementation of diet with 2% AC was found to be the most suitable for improving the growth performance and intestinal morphology in tilapia.

To evaluate the influence of zilpaterol hydrochloride (ZH) supplementation on growth performance, carcass traits, chemical characteristics of the longissimus muscle (LM), and plasma metabolites, 16 Mahabadi castrated goats (29.93 ± 1.84 kg) were individually fed a finishing diet without or with ZH supplementation dosed at 0.20 mg/kg BW daily. The effects of supplementing broilers' diets with fermented cottonseed meal (FCSM) on the broilers' performance, apparent digestibility, carcass traits, and meat composition were studied. A total of 180 yellow-feathered chickens of 21 days old were randomly divided into three groups (six replicates of 10 broilers each): 1) a control group (Con), 2) a treatment group of FCSM by Candida tropicalis (Ct), and 3) a treatment group of FCSM by C. In order to find alternative feed additives to replace antibiotics for safe animal production, combinations of probiotics, oligosaccharides, and berberine were used in this study. Ninety 60-day-old pigs were assigned to 9 groups, with 10 pigs for each group. Group 1 was the control, group 2 had antibiotics added, and groups 3-9 had different levels of combinations added.
