Effects Of Shell Thickness, Shell Pores And Egg Weight Loss On Hatchability On Japanese Quail Eggs, S. Kudret Saylam, Musa Sarica

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was conducted to determine the effects of eggshell thickness, pores, and weight loss on hatchability on Japanese quail eggs. A total of 477 eggs, collected within 5 days, placed in an incubator after determining individual egg weights, and eggs were individually weighted on 5, 10, 14, and 18th days of incubation. Percentage egg weight loss was calculated for individual eggs for each incubation interval. On day 18 of incubation, all unhatched eggs were opened and examined macroscopically for evidence of stage of embryonic development. Egg types were classified as infertile (INF), early dead (ED), late dead (LD), embryos …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, effects of milk protein polymorphism on milk yield traits were investigaed in Brown Swiss cattle. Starch Gel Elektroforesis methods were used for milk protein typing. The data were evaluated by Least squares and Maximum Likelihood Computer Program. Least squares means were found to be 4029.46±251.73 kg for 305 days milk yield, 301.41±14.84 days for lactation length. Effects of \alpha-s_1-cazein, \beta-Lactoglobulin and \kappa-cazein types on milk yield traits were non-significant (p>0.05), while efect of \beta-Casein types were significant (p

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In our research, the effect of UVB radiation on the amounts of Ca^{++}, inorganic P(Pi), K^+, Na^+, Mg^{++} , Cl^- in serums of 22 week- old Wistar-Albino rats was investigated. UVB radiation was applied to trial group animals at dosages used for treatment (4 J/ cm^2) for a period of 4 weeks. The blood samples were taken before the ray application as the control group. At the end of one month there was no change in the amounts of Pi, K^+, Mg^{++} but the level of serum -Ca^{++} increased significantly (P

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The animal material of the research was 3, 4 and 5 years old 210 Merino ewes and their lambs. The research was started at the beginning of the last 1.5 months period of gestation and continued until the lambs were reached 60 days age. It has been determined that 500 g and more (especially 1500 g) concentrate feed given fed ewes daily at the last 1.5 months period of gestation increased the liveweight and decreased the weight loss of ewes and increased birth weight, growth and survival rates of lambs.

Having partial purification of Carbonic anhydrase from gill and liver of Van Lake fish by ethanol-chloroform and acetone-chloroform, the esterase activity was performed by using p-nitrophenyl acetate as a substrate on spectrophotometer. The effects of the some kinetic parameters (km, Vo, Vmax, Na_2CO_3 activation, optimum pH etc.) have been examined When Lineweaver-Burk diagram of liver extracts (at 25°C) is examined, ethanol has an apparent competitive inhibition compare to acetone extracts. So Km of the substrate (p-nitrophenyl acetate) is 0.95 mM …

Statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences between percentages (P0.05). The result of this study suggest that first carbonation sludge from the sugar industry could replace ground marble and the level of replacement should be 20% if the sludge is used in the layer …

The Importance Of \Omega-3 Series Fatty Acids In Marine Fish Larvae Nutrition And Recent Developments, Abdurrahman Polat, Gülsün Özyurt Jan 1999

The Importance Of \Omega-3 Series Fatty Acids In Marine Fish Larvae Nutrition And Recent Developments, Abdurrahman Polat, Gülsün Özyurt

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In general, marine fish larvae require \omega-3 HUFA, especially eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Larval growth, survival and larval activity are affected by dietary levels of essantial fatty acids. Some pathological signs, such as abnormal pigmentation, hydrops etc. and low feed conversion efficiency, poor growth, mass mortality are related to \omega-3 HUFA series fatty acids deficiency in larvae food. EPA/DHA ratio in live foods or microencapsuled diets is an important factor in larval development and survival.

Among the linear models simple linear model gave the best fit for Dağlıç and quadratic model for Kıvırcık. However heterogenity was found in terms of regressions equations within each breed and between genotypes. These results say that common regression equation can not be used for all individual in …
