With steel slag as coarse aggregate, cement-stabilized steel slag macadam base material was designed and prepared by selecting three kinds of cement dosage and three kinds of steel slag content. The mechanical properties of cement-stabilized steel slag macadam base were studied through compaction and unconfined compressive strength tests, and XRD and SEM microscopic tests were carried out to analyze the mineral composition and microscopic morphology of steel slag and mixture and clarify the internal mechanism of hydration product formation and microstructure and strength formation. Under the new climatic environment and engineering construction requirements, engineering problems involving red clay are becoming more and more prominent, and it is urgent to deeply grasp the mechanical and engineering properties of residual slope red clay. The typical red clay in Hunan Province was studied in this paper. Based on the unconsolidated undrained direct shear test, this paper studied the mechanical properties of residual slope red clay under the influence of moisture content and temperature, focusing on the most unfavorable conditions affecting the mechanical properties of red clay. In order to prevent traffic accidents on multi-lane expressways, the VISSIM traffic simulation model was established based on three types of multi-lane traffic conflicts: mixed passenger and cargo type, separated passenger and cargo type, and separated main and auxiliary type. SSAM software was used to obtain traffic conflict data, and the form, quantity, and location of the conflicts were analyzed. The results show that traffic conflicts are the most under the mixed passenger and cargo type, which are mainly distributed in the upper 100 m range of the innermost lane, outermost lane, and deceleration lane. In order to analyze the factors affecting the risk of nighttime expressway maintenance operation and quantitatively assess the degree of influence of various factors on the risk of nighttime maintenance operation, this paper extracted five first-level indicators and 36 second-level indicators that affect the risk of operation through literature review, accident data, and questionnaire survey and built an evaluation system. The first-order and second-order confirmatory factor analysis models were constructed by using a structural equation model (SEM) based on 343 questionnaires of the nighttime maintenance operation risks. In order to study the engineering permeability characteristics of cement-modified expansive soil under dry and wet cycles, the mix ratio of cement-modified expansive soil was designed, and the orthogonal design test method was adopted. Image analysis software PACS, unconfined compressive strength test, and laboratory permeability test were used to study the crack development, strength attenuation characteristics, and permeability changes of cement-modified expansive soil under dry and wet cycle conditions. This paper presents a study on the thermo-mechanical behavior of an ultra-high strength CrNiMoV steel at high temperatures and medium strain rates through hot tensile tests. The material was examined in two conditions: as-cast/heat-treated (AC/HT) and as-rolled (AR). Tensile tests were conducted at temperatures of 800,900,1000,1100, and 1200°C, and strain rates of 0.1,1, and 10s−1. Inclusion and porosity analysis was also performed on the tensile specimens. The results revealed that the flow stress decreased by approximately 70% on average from 800°C to 1200°C, while increasing by approximately 32% on average from 0.1s−1 to 10s−1 in strain rate. SM570TMC is high-strength steel (HSS), which is commonly used in structures that require higher-strength components. In this research, submerged arc welding (SAW)-welded SM570 TMC steels' microstructure and mechanical characteristics were examined. SM570 plates with 12mm thickness were multi-pass welded by using a 3.0 mm diameter of ESAB OK Autrod 13.40 (AWS A5.23: EG) filler metal. The joint design is a single V multi-pass butt weld with a backing strip. Two welded joints were prepared by using heat inputs of 2.2 and 2.9 kJ/mm. The effect of hard chromium coating on AISI D2's mechanical properties and wear resistance has been investigated using the electrolysis technique with varying current and coating duration. The variations of current used are 0.8 A, 1.2 A, and 1.6 A, while the coating duration used are 300, 600 and 900 seconds. Characterization of the films was conducted using SEM-EDS, and XRD. It can be observed from SEM characterization that the chrome grains resulted from the electroplating process are fine. The XRD identify chrome compund on the surface coating. Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a prominent groundwater pollutant due to its stability, widespread contamination, and negative health effects upon human exposure; thus, an immense need exists for enhanced environmental remediation techniques. Temperature-responsive domains and catalyst incorporation in membrane domains bring significant advantages for toxic organic decontamination. In this study, hollow fiber membranes (HFMs) were functionalized with stimuli-responsive poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAm), poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA), and catalytic zero- valent iron/palladium (Fe/Pd) for heightened reductive degradation of such pollutants, utilizing methyl orange (MO) as a model compound. The theory of heterogeneous nucleation was initially developed as a part of condensed matter physics, and later it was used as an important engineering tool to design metallurgical processes. This success has led to wide applications of the theory in metallurgical practice. For example, engineering heterogeneous nucleation in ductile iron has been used to reduce shrinkage defects, suppress cementite formation, and modify the size and shape of microstructural constituencies. An intermittent pattern is observed in the modeling of interfacial cyclic-loading crack growth at high-angle grain boundaries in ternary Fe-Ni-Cr alloys. Different from conventional wisdom of stress-intensity factor, the abrupt crack advances are found driven by extreme value statistics - namely, the aggregation of atoms with most compressive residual stresses. In addition, inherently non-affine atomic stress fluctuations are discovered, and the fluctuations peak at intermediate level of chemical heterogeneity, causing the fastest crack growth. Implications of such nonmonotonic mechanism in regard to the origin of intermediate-temperature embrittlement phenomena are also discussed.

Cadmium germanium diphosphide (CdGeP2) crystals, with versatile terahertz-generating properties, belong to the chalcopyrite family of nonlinear optical materials. Other widely investigated members of this family are ZnGeP2 and CdSiP2. The room-temperature absorption edge of CdGeP2 is near 1.72 eV (720 nm). Cadmium vacancies, phosphorous vacancies, and germanium-on-cadmium antisites are present in as-grown CdGeP2 crystals. These unintentional intrinsic point defects are best studied below room temperature with electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical absorption. The plasmonic scattering and absorption bands are mainly located at visible light region which can be easily applied in visual detections. Crafting charge transfer channels at titanium dioxide (TiO2) based photoanodes remain a pressing bottleneck in solar-to-chemical conversion technology. Despite the tremendous attempts, TiO2 as the promising photoanode material still suffers from sluggish charge transport kinetics. Herein, we propose an assembly strategy that involves the axial coordination grafting metalloporphyrin-based photosensitizer molecules (MP) onto the surface-modified TiO2 nanorods (NRs) photoanode, forming the composite MP/TiO2 NRs photoelectrode. Across the United States, there are two pressing problems: garbage disposal and electricity generation. Firstly, the infrastructure in place doesn’t properly dispose of or reuse municipal solid waste. In addition, power insecurity is becoming more prominent as power grids are becoming outdated. This project aims to provide an alternative solution for both issues by using a Brayton cycle based waste-to-energy incinerator. The overall system efficiency relies heavily on the feedstock used for incineration. One way efficiency can be increased is through pelletizing trash, ensuring an even burn profile, providing the correct amount of feedstock, and ensuring adequate energy production. However, …
