In order to solve the problem arising after the demolition and closure of the lane separator in the same direction along the expressway,this paper systematically introduced the reconstruction method of the lane separator in the same direction by studying the overhaul project along Zhengzhou-Luoyang section of Lianyungang‒Khorgos Expressway.The paper explored the main diseases and potential safety hazards existing in the lane separator in the same direction by checking the compliance of specifications,analyzing the traffic operation status,exploring the characteristics of traffic accidents,and investigating the traffic safety facilities.On this basis,it demonstrated the feasibility of demolishing the lane separator in the same direction.According …

In order to respond to the national strategy of energy saving and emission reduction and improve the comprehensive utilization rate of industrial waste,the influence of slag content,alkali equivalent,sodium silicate modulus,and water-cement ratio on the compressive strength of slag-fly ash geopolymers was investigated by single variable and orthogonal experiment method.The compressive strength of geopolymers was analyzed by combining XRD,SEM,and porosity.The results show that the gel formation is promoted with the increase in slag content,and the structure of geopolymers is more compact,which is conducive to the development of strength.After 28 days of standard curing,the influence of various factors on the compressive strength …

In order to solve the problem of a sharp increase in construction solid wastes and insufficient utilization rate,this paper took slag-fly ash-based geopolymer as an inorganic binder,replaced natural gravels with recycled aggregates from construction solid wastes,and set urban road base layer as the target scene to study the mechanical properties of geopolymer-stabilized recycled aggregates at different contents.The results show that with the increase in geopolymer content,the maximum dry density of the mixture increases.The optimum moisture content increases.The unconfined compressive strength of the mixture increases with the increase in geopolymer content and curing age and decreases with the increase in recycled …

New Jersey safety barriers are the most commonly used form of guardrails in highway median separators due to their excellent safety protection.In response to the cost reduction and quality improvement,efficient and rapid preparation process,and quality issues of New Jersey precast concrete safety barriers,this article adopted the automation production process of New Jersey precast safety barriers,optimized concrete mix proportion for precast safety barriers,and studied their performance.The experimental results show that in the designed C 30 concrete,the compressive strength of the concrete mixed with 15% fly ash reaches 39.2 MPa,and th e slump reaches 185 mm.The concrete performance meets the requirements of …

In order to investigate the effect of the screw diameter of planted bars and ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) pouring method on the shear behavior of normal reinforced concrete (NRC) and UHPC, two groups of six push-out specimens were designed for shear behavior tests.The results show that after the failure of the concrete bonding force in the NRC-UHPC interface,the screw can maintain shear behavior so that the failure process of the specimen after the load reaches the peak shows ductile characteristics.For specimens with screw diameters of 12 mm and 16 mm,greater screw diameter indicates higher shear capacity of the specimens and …

Water pollution affects life sustainability; hence, several efforts have been exerted to overcome this problem. For ex-ample, nanofiber membrane technology is introduced to retain solutes while allowing only water molecules to pass through the system. Therefore, this study aimed to maximize the technology for water filtration using the electrospin-ning method by combining Styrofoam waste-based polymer with activated carbon from coconut shell waste (ACCS). The nanofiber diameter produced ranged from 590 nm to 610 nm with porous characteristics and without beads. Adsorbent components in face masks are crucial for protecting individuals exposed to dangerous situations. In this study, one porous TiO2 layer was deposited on zeolite 13X particles by coating hybrid organic/inorganic titanium alkoxide film via molecular layer deposition (MLD), followed by heat treatment to remove organic components in the MLD film. In traditional chalcopyrite-molybdenite (Cu-Mo) flotation separation systems, inorganic depressants such as NaSH and NaCN are used to selectively depress chalcopyrite making it more hydrophilic so molybdenite can be floated and recovered. NaSH and NaCN are highly toxic, have high explosion potential, strong odor, and readily oxidize in air resulting in a high consumption rates. To control oxidation, nitrogen gas, and Nokes reagent are both necessary, making the process even more expensive. The removal of phosphates and nitrates from wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) effluents is important for preventing pollution of receiving waters. In this study, we chemically modified alkaline lignin (aLN) with quaternary ammonium groups to obtain biodegradable cationic lignin (cLN). We characterized the cLN and tested its efficacy for removing phosphates and nitrates in a lab setting and on field-collected WWTP samples. This dissertation demonstrates high-quality germanium quantum wells on a 200 mm silicon wafer platform, enabling novel device possibilities. Partnering with a commercial silicon-germanium epitaxy supplier, we obtained shallow, undoped germanium quantum wells with high-crystalline quality, confirmed through x-ray diffraction, secondary ion mass spectroscopy, high-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy, and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. Hall bar devices fabricated on single quantum wells revealed that surface preparation can tune transport properties while maintaining peak mobilities around 105 cm2V−1s−1. Cellulosic materials are highly flammable and release harmful gases during combustion. Conventional flame retardants may pose environmental and health risks while impacting the fabric quality. GCS extract is a rich source of tannins, phosphorus, silicates, metallic salts, and oxides and is explored as a novel flame retardant (FR) for cotton fabrics. The advent of additive manufacturing has revolutionized the prototyping, design, and manufacturing of new and innovative products. Through the use of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), parts can be manufactured using different sparse infill percentages (the percentage of void space within a printed object) and sparse infill patterns (the lattice structure of material within the object). High entropy alloys (HEAs) demonstrate high strength, thermal stability, and irradiation resistance, making them desirable for applications in nuclear reactors and other harsh environments. Many existing HEAs contain cobalt (Co), which makes them unsuitable for nuclear applications due to the long-term activation of Co. A previously studied Co-free alloy, (Fe0.3Ni0.3Mn0.3Cr0.1)88Ti4Al8, exhibits high strength but compromised ductility due to its network of brittle precipitates upon aging. This thesis examines the effects of extreme market shocks on supply chain dynamics within the automotive industry. Through an analysis of demand data from an automotive manufacturer to its component suppliers (January 2018 to May 2024), the study investigates the relationship between market shocks and supply chain responses, providing insights into how auto components inventory management handles downstream responses to market shocks. In this paper, we study the dynamics of the shock cone formed around a hairy Kerr black hole due to Bondi– Hoyle–Lyttleton (BHL) accretion and investigate the quasi-periodic oscillations (QPO) behaviors resulting from the black hole-cone interaction, aiming to predict the QPO frequencies that may occur around the M87∗ black hole. To achieve this, we use the hairy Kerr black hole parameters consistent with the observed shadow parameters of M87∗ as initial conditions in numerical simulations, revealing the structure of the resulting shock cone and QPOs in a strong gravitational field. Hafnium dioxide (HfO2) coatings were successfully deposited on zirconium diboride (ZrB2) using reactive magnetron sputtering. After the oxidation at 1500°C or 1600°C, the mutual dissolution of HfO2 and thermally grown ZrO2 was observed which has resulted in the formation of a mixed oxide zone. As the enrichment of the mixed oxide zone by ZrO2 progresses, monoclinic/tetragonal phase transition temperature of ∼1790°C for nominally pure HfO2 moves towards ∼1500 °C. Finally, the inevitable phase transition from monoclinic to tetragonal structure results in the development of cracks, pores, and gaps within the mixed oxide …

Large-density functional theory (DFT) databases are a treasure trove of energies, forces, and stresses that can be used to train machine-learned interatomic potentials for atomistic modeling. Herein, we employ structural relaxations from the AFLOW database to train moment tensor potentials (MTPs) for four carbide systems: CHfTa, CHfZr, CMoW, and CTaTi. The resulting MTPs are used to relax ~6300 random symmetric structures and are subsequently improved via active learning to generate robust potentials (RP) that can relax a wide variety of structures, and accurate potentials (AP) designed for the relaxation of low-energy systems. Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have garnered considerable interest for their potential in optoelectronics and photonics owing to their remarkable combination of electronic, optical, and mechanical properties.
