The Effects Of Starting Microstructure On The Results Of Double Intercritical Annealing Process Of 0.107%C-2.39%Mn-0.453%Si Dual Phase Steel, Wichayut Chumoung, Nithi Saenarjhan
Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals
This study investigates and compares the effects of the starting microstructure on the double intercritical annealing (DIA) process on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 0.11%C-2.39%Mn-0.45%Si dual phase steel. The specimens were austenitized, followed by water quenching (WQ) or air cooling (AC), then DIA at 730°C. For the WQ method, high cooling rate results in the formation of a high strength martensitic structure. Conversely, AC method yields a moderate cooling rate, forming a bainitic structure. After single intercritical annealing (SIA), the microstructure transformed into ferrite and martensite. WQ method specimens contain high stress concentration, leading to earlier recrystallization compared to …

Elevating the selectivity of two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e‒ ORR) is challenging. Herein, the hydroxyl combined with nitrogen on biomass carbon exhibits a high H2O2 selectivity over a wide potential range of 0 V to 0.5 V vs. RHE, which is nearly 97% at 0.3 V vs. RHE. The combination of hydroxyl and nitrogen improves the adsorption and desorption of intermediates, finally changing the reaction pathway and promoting the selectivity of 2e‒ ORR. The Faradaic efficiency (FE) reaches 98% at 0.3 V vs. RHE. Furthermore, the typical organic pollutants were degraded on site in flow cell. This work illustrates the …

This study examines the aerodynamic characteristics—including pressure, density, and temperature distribution, as well as lift and drag forces—of two different angles of attack based on the M13 and Eppler 1233 airfoils. The analysis considers an airfoil with varying chord thickness while maintaining a …

Influence Of The Casting Processes And Aging Times On The Microstructure And Hardness Of Alsi12 Cu Cast Alloys, Said Beroual, Pascal Paillard, Yann Borjon-Piron
Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals
The present study investigated the effects of the casting processes and aging times on the micro-structure and hardness of commercial AlSi12Cu alloys. The primary goal was to assess how various aging times affect the maximum hardness of the alloy and to evaluate the influence of cooling rates on hardness values obtained from sand casting (SC) and High-pressure die casting (HPDC). For both casting alloys, the solution heat treatment was performed at 540℃, followed by quenching. The alloys were then aged at 180℃ for various durations, ranging from 10 min to 50 h. The results reveal significant microstructural changes in the …

Different organic compounds like dyes and pharmaceutical contaminants pollute a large amount of water which can increase the chemical oxygen demand in water bodies. The photodegradation of dyes has been widely studied using TiO2-based nanomaterials, which are typical photocatalysts. TiO2 is highly effective in reducing pollutants when exposed to UV light and does not cause secondary pollution. However, TiO2 is only functional when exposed to UV light, which is not ideal for real-world use. This drawback of TiO2 pulls the research towards modified photocatalysts for better yield. In this study, the (BiYbO3)0.5 - (BaTiO3)0.5 material was formulated by solid state …

This study investigates the structural, microstructural, dielectric, and electrical properties of BiNaZnMoO₆ (BNZM) ceramic synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction method. Preliminary structural analysis using X-ray diffraction (XRD) suggests orthorhombic crystal symmetry. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs reveal a uniform distribution of well-grown grains with well-defined grain boundaries, which may contribute to the enhanced dielectric properties. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis confirms the presence of all constituent elements Bi, Na, Zn, Mo, and O in the studied sample. Dielectric spectra analysis as a function of frequency and temperature indicates the formation of high-quality dielectric materials, evidenced by a high …

As a robust photocatalyst, Bi4O5I2 have has attracted significant scientific interest owing to its narrow bandgap energy, escalated electronic properties and high stability. Nonetheless, the unfavourable band structure and higher recombination of excitons have restricted its diversified photocatalytic applications. In this context, binary heterojunction construction using Bi4O5I2 could be considered an effective strategy for spatial charge carrier separation across the hetero-interface, leading to an enhanced activity. In this study, we have prepared Bi4O5I2/g-C3N4 Z-scheme hetero-structures via a wet impregnation strategy that preserves the spherical structure of Bi4O5I2. The phase purity, chemical bonding, morphology and microstructure of the composite were confirmed …
