สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาการแปลบุคคลวัตและอุปลักษณ์ ในบทกวีนิพนธ์ เรื่อง Il Penseroso จากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทย ผู้วิจัยได้นำทฤษฎีการกระทำการแปลของคริสติอันเน นอร์ด ทฤษฎีสโคโพสของคาทารินา ไรส์และฮานส์ แฟร์เมีย หลักการแปลกวีนิพนธ์ของอองเดร เลอเฟอแวร์ หลักการแปลกวีนิพนธ์และหลักการแปลอุปมาโวหารของสัญฉวี สายบัว หลักการแปลกวีนิพนธ์ของปราณี บานชื่น และงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องมาใช้เป็นแนวทางการแปลเพื่อรักษาสุนทรียภาพและความหมายเดิมในตัวบทต้นฉบับ และถ่ายทอดการใช้ภาพพจน์ที่สะท้อนความเชื่อและความสามารถทางกวีนิพนธ์ของกวี ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การแปลบุคคลวัตและอุปลักษณ์ซึ่งเป็นเป้าหมายหลักของสารนิพนธ์จำเป็นต้องใช้แนวทางการแปลมากกว่าหนึ่งแนวทางเพื่อให้การแปลสัมฤทธิ์ผล โดยในการแปลบุคคลวัตด้านธรรมชาติสามารถใช้การแปลแบบตรงตัวได้ แต่ในการแปลบุคคลวัตด้านวรรณคดีจำเป็นต้องใช้การแปลแบบกึ่งตรงตัวควบคู่ไปกับการแปลเทียบเคียงและการขยายความเพื่อความเข้าใจของผู้อ่าน โดยแนวทางการแปลที่กล่าวถึงนี้สามารถรักษาสุนทรียภาพและความหมายเดิมในตัวบทต้นฉบับไว้ได้ และช่วยแก้ไขปัญหาการแปลจนนำไปสู่การถ่ายทอดการใช้ภาพพจน์ตามต้นฉบับได้อย่างใกล้เคียง

สารนิพนธ์เรื่องนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแปลหนังสือนิทานร้อยกรองสำหรับเด็กเรื่อง The Everywhere Bear ของ จูเลีย โดนัลด์สัน จากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทย ต้นฉบับเป็นตัวบทสื่อผสมระหว่างเนื้อความกับภาพประกอบซึ่งไม่สามารถแยกเป็นเอกเทศได้ ผู้วิจัยจึงศึกษาทฤษฎีการแปลที่เกี่ยวข้องโดยกำหนดแนวทางการแปลเป็นแบบสื่อสารความหมาย ประยุกต์ใช้แนวทางการแปลบทร้อยกรองของเลอเฟอแวร์ วิเคราะห์ตัวบทที่มีสื่อผสมหลายรูปแบบตามแนวคิดของนอร์ดและดิเซอร์โต ประยุกต์ใช้ทฤษฎีความเกี่ยวเนื่องของกุตต์ และทฤษฎีการสื่อสารรูปแบบผสมของเครสในการแก้ปัญหาการแปล สารนิพนธ์นี้มุ่งเน้นเสนอวิธีการแปลเพื่อสื่อความหมาย ดังนั้นทุกองค์ประกอบในสารนิพนธ์ ตั้งแต่การกำหนดแนวทางการแปล การวิเคราะห์ตัวบทต้นฉบับ การแปลตัวบท จนถึงการแก้ปัญหาการแปล ดำเนินไปในทิศทางเดียวกัน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ความรู้ ทฤษฎี และแนวคิดต่าง ๆ ดังกล่าวข้างต้นช่วยให้ผู้วิจัยเข้าใจต้นฉบับ แก้ปัญหาการแปล และแปลตัวบทออกมาเป็นบทร้อยกรองภาษาไทยได้อย่างเหมาะสมและมีความสอดคล้องกันระหว่างบทแปลภาษาไทยกับภาพมากที่สุด

การแปลมนต์คาถาในนิยายภาพเรื่อง Zatanna ของ Paul Dini, ธัญจิรา จันทร์ประสิทธิ์

สารนิพนธ์เรื่องนี้มุ่งหาแนวทางการแปลมนต์คาถาซึ่งเป็นศิลปะการเล่นทางภาษาแบบร่ายกลับหลังและพาลินโดรมในนิยายภาพเรื่อง ซาแทนน่า (Zatanna) ของ พอล ดินี (Paul Dini) ผู้วิจัยได้เสนอแนวทางการแปลไว้ 3 แนวทาง ได้แก่ 1. การประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิดเรื่องขนบการแปลของ กิเดียน ทูรี (Gideon Toury) ร่วมกับทฤษฎีวัจนกรรมของ เจ. แอล. ออสติน (J. L. Austin) และกระบวนการภารตานุวาทของ อัสนี พูลรักษ์ เพื่อเป็นแนวทางที่จะทำให้ผู้อ่านบทแปลภาษาไทยยอมรับได้ตามขนบภาษาเวทมนตร์ของไทย 2. การประยุกต์ใช้ทฤษฎีประเด็นสัมพันธ์ของ เออร์เนสต์ ออกัส กัตต์ (Ernest – August Gutt) ร่วมกับกลวิธีการแปลการเล่นคำของ เดิร์ก เดอลาบาสติตา (Dirk Delabastita) เพื่อทดแทนการเล่นทางภาษาของต้นฉบับและสร้างผลลัพธ์ที่ใกล้เคียงกับต้นฉบับมากที่สุดทั้งในแง่ของความหมายและการเล่นทางภาษา ซึ่งศิลปะการเล่นทางภาษาของไทยที่ผู้วิจัยเลือกใช้ คือ การเล่นคำผวนและฉันทลักษณ์ของกลบท และ 3. การปรับใช้กลวิธีการแปลการ์ตูนของ มิฮาล โบโดโร (Michal Borodo) เพื่อถ่ายทอดเนื้อหาและวัจนลีลาของต้นฉบับภาษาอังกฤษออกมาเป็นบทแปลภาษาไทยได้อย่างสมจริงที่สุด ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การใช้คำยืมภาษาบาลีและภาษาสันสกฤตตามกระบวนการภารตานุวาทสามารถช่วยยกระดับภาษาของมนต์คาถาให้มีความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ตามขนบการใช้ภาษาเวทมนตร์ของไทย การเล่นคำผวนและฉันทลักษณ์ของกลบทเป็นกลวิธีที่สามารถสร้าง ผลลัพธ์ (Effect) ที่มีความใกล้เคียงกับต้นฉบับมากที่สุดและเป็นการเล่นคำที่ผู้ใช้ภาษาไทยส่วนใหญ่คุ้นเคย จึงไม่ต้องใช้ความพยายามในการทำความเข้าใจ (Effort) เกินความจำเป็น และการปรับใช้กลวิธีการแปลการ์ตูน ซึ่งประกอบด้วย การแปลแบบเพิ่ม (Addition) การแปลแบบลด (Condensation) และการแปลแบบแปลง (Transformation) ก็เป็นประโยชน์ต่อการแปลมนต์คาถาและข้อความทั้งหลายเช่นกัน

การต่อรองกับแนวคิดมนุษย์เป็นศูนย์กลาง : กรณีศึกษานวนิยายร่วมสมัยที่มีสัตว์เป็นผู้เล่าเรื่อง, กิตติกานต์ หะรารักษ์

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์การต่อรองกับแนวคิดมนุษย์เป็นศูนย์กลางของนวนิยายที่เล่าผ่านมุมมองของสัตว์สามเรื่อง ได้แก่ อะ ด็อกส์ เพอร์โพส โดย ดับเบิลยู. บรูซ แคเมอรอน, เดลตา เดอะ แดนซิง เอลิเฟนท์ : อะ เมมมัวร์ โดย เค. เอ. มอนโร. และ เดอะ ทราเวลลิง แคต ครอนิเคิลส์ โดย ฮิโระ อะริกะวะ ผลการศึกษาพบว่านวนิยายทั้งสามเรื่องเสนอให้สัตว์ต่อรองกับแนวคิดมนุษย์เป็นศูนย์กลางในมิติเรื่อง ภาษา เหตุผล และจริยธรรม สำหรับในมิติของภาษา นวนิยายทั้งสามเรื่องเสนอให้เห็นว่าสัตว์ต่อรองกับคุณค่าที่มนุษย์กำหนดให้กับพวกมัน เช่น การเป็นสินค้าหรือการเป็นภาพแทนของสิ่งที่มนุษย์ปรารถนา โดยตัวละครสัตว์สามารถวิพากษ์วิจารณ์หรือชี้แจงต่อการถูกกำหนดนิยามดังกล่าว ต่อมาในมิติเรื่องเหตุผล นวนิยายทั้งสามเรื่องเสนอให้เห็นความสามารถในการคิดและการตระหนักรู้ของสัตว์ สิ่งที่ถูกเสนอในมิตินี้นำไปสู่การปลูกฝังให้มนุษย์เกิดความเห็นอกเห็นใจต่อสิ่งมีชีวิตอื่นเพราะมนุษย์เล็งเห็นคุณสมบัติที่สายพันธุ์มนุษย์มีร่วมกับสายพันธุ์เหล่านั้น สำหรับมิติด้านจริยธรรม นวนิยายสะท้อนให้เห็นว่าสัตว์สามารถแสดงออกในเชิงจริยธรรมได้ แม้ว่าการแสดงออกดังกล่าวจะถูกขับเคลื่อนด้วยสัญชาตญาณ นอกจากนี้ การพิจารณาสัตว์อย่างใคร่ครวญยังอาจทำให้มนุษย์ตระหนักรู้ถึงแง่มุมด้านจริยธรรมของพวกเขา อย่างไรก็ตาม ผลการศึกษาพบว่า นวนิยายทั้งสามเรื่องข้างต้นยังไม่สามารถก้าวข้ามแนวคิดมนุษย์เป็นศูนย์กลางได้อย่างสมบูรณ์ เนื่องจากตัวละครสัตว์ยังคงถูกมนุษย์ควบคุมผ่านการทำให้ตัวละครสัตว์เหล่านี้ต้องพึ่งพิงมนุษย์ หรือทำให้มนุษย์ยอมรับ

การนำเสนอความเป็นอื่น: นักแสดงตัวประหลาดในนวนิยายอเมริกันร่วมสมัย, วิริยา ด่านกำแพงแก้ว

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์การนำเสนอภาพความเป็นอื่นของนักแสดงตัวประหลาดในนวนิยายอเมริกันร่วมสมัยคัดสรร โดยเรื่องเล่าดังกล่าวเผยให้เห็นอิทธิพลของวาทกรรมกระแสหลักที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความเป็นอื่นทางร่างกาย ไม่ว่าจะเป็นวาทกรรมทางการแพทย์และทางเชื้อชาติที่ประกอบสร้างแนวคิดขั้วตรงข้ามเกี่ยวกับความปกติ/ความประหลาด ตลอดจนศึกษาบริบททางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมของการแสดงตัวประหลาดและนักแสดงตัวประหลาดในช่วงเวลาที่ถูกนำเสนอในนวนิยายคัดสรร เพื่อเปรียบเทียบและวิเคราะห์กระบวนการสร้างความหมายของความปกติ/ความประหลาดซึ่งมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามยุคสมัย ผลการศึกษาสรุปได้ว่างานเขียนนวนิยายอเมริกันร่วมสมัยคัดสรรที่นำเสนอภาพนักแสดงตัวประหลาด แสดงให้เห็นถึงการใช้วาทกรรมความพิการประกอบกับวาทกรรมการแสดงตัวประหลาดในการประกอบสร้างความเป็นอื่นของนักแสดงตัวประหลาด ซึ่งมีรูปแบบที่แตกต่างกันไปตามกลุ่มหรือประเภทที่ตัวละครนักแสดงตัวประหลาดแต่ละตัวถูกพิจารณาจัดวางให้เป็น เช่น ความเป็นอื่นทางด้านเรือนร่างและความเป็นอื่นทางด้านเชื้อชาติ โดยที่จากการวิเคราะห์การสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของตัวละครนักแสดงตัวประหลาดผ่านความสัมพันธ์กับตัวละครอื่น ๆ ที่ปรากฏในนวนิยายคัดสรรพบว่า นวนิยายคัดสรรบางเรื่องแสดงให้เห็นถึงการวิพากษ์และโต้กลับของตัวละครเหล่านี้ต่อแนวคิดเรื่องสภาวะความปกติและอคติทางด้านเชื้อชาติผ่านการใช้ร่างกายทั้งบนและภายนอกเวที อย่างไรก็ตาม ในนวนิยายคัดสรรบางเรื่องยังคงแสดงให้เห็นถึงการผลิตซ้ำการสร้างภาพลักษณ์แบบเหมารวมของบุคคลที่มีร่างกายที่ถูกมองว่า “เบี่ยงเบน” จากบรรทัดฐานและตีตราพวกเขาเหล่านั้นอีกครั้งโดยไม่ตั้งใจ

งานวิจัยการยั่วล้อแบบเควียร์ในฐานะบทวิพากษ์บรรทัดฐานของสังคมรักต่างเพศ มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการวิจัย คือ เพื่อศึกษาการนำเสนอภาพของกลุ่มเควียร์ในนวนิยายแฟนตาซีชุด ตุ๊ดทะลุมิติ (พิภพจอมนาง) จำนวน 6 เล่ม ของ นปภา จากการศึกษาพบว่าการใช้องค์ประกอบของความเป็นแฟนตาซีในการพากลุ่มตัวละครเอกเควียร์เดินทางทะลุมิติไปยังดินแดนเสมือนจีนโบราณและเข้าไปสวมบทบาทอยู่ในร่างของอิสตรี ไม่ใช่การสร้างภาพลักษณ์ใหม่ของกลุ่มเควียร์ในลักษณะที่สยบยอมต่อขนบโดยดุษณี หากแต่เป็นการแสดงให้สมบทบาทเพื่อสร้างการยอมรับในสังคม อีกทั้งการแสดงตัวตนภายนอกโดยสวมใส่เรือนร่างสตรีตามขนบนิยมรักต่างเพศที่สวนทางกับตัวตนภายในของกลุ่มตัวละครเอกเควียร์ สอดคล้องกับการยั่วล้อแบบเควียร์แคมป์ (camp) ซึ่งเป็นการยั่วล้อที่มุ่งวิพากษ์บรรทัดฐานสังคมรักต่างเพศผ่านการแสดง โดยการยั่วล้อบรรทัดฐานสังคมรักต่างเพศที่ปรากฏอยู่ในนวนิยายชุดนี้ ไม่เพียงเผยให้เห็นข้อจำกัด ความคับแคบ และความรุนแรงของบรรทัดฐานรักต่างเพศ แต่ยังนำเสนอให้เห็นถึงการฉวยใช้ช่องโหว่ของกรอบกฎเกณฑ์ที่สังคมกำหนด เพื่อเอื้อประโยชน์ให้เกิดแก่ตนเองและพวกพ้องเควียร์อีกด้วย

Based on the assumption that characters in a literary text are true representations of human beings, this paper intends to interpret Kyomuhendo’s characterization of Marina in Secrets No More, applying psychoanalytic theory thereby, authenticating Freud’s concept of personality in the understanding of characters’ deeds in the novel. Taking into consideration that Freud’s psychoanalysis is a wide and complex theory, this paper focuses on the basics of ‘Id’, ‘Ego’ and ‘Super-ego’ as modes of interpretation to evaluate the effectiveness of the theory in providing a deeper understanding of a character’s personality and meaningful interpretation of a text. The Shuar Writing Boom: Cultural Experts And The Creation Of A "Scholarly Tradition", Natalia Buitron, Grégory Deshoulliere

In dialogue with Stephen Hugh-Jones’s work on Tukanoan writing, this article analyzes the boom in patrimonial writing among Chicham (Jivaroan)-speaking Shuar people. Patrimonial writing foregrounds collective identity and understandings of culture as group property common to the Tukanoan speakers of the Upper Rio Negro but foreign to the pre-missionized Shuar. We argue that the Shuar interest in patrimonial writing can be explained through the history of missionization and the recent shift to intercultural exchange within the plurinational project of state-building spearheaded by the indigenous movement. A period of intense nation-building, the late nineteenth century was marked by the search for medical and legal solutions to the increasing number of bodies that did not align with culturally constructed expectations of productivity and reproduction in Spanish modernity. Authors of this time used representations of disability to engage in urgent political questions about population control and the rights of individuals in the face of increasing medical intervention. In carrying out this analysis, I raise the question of how representations of disability created a space to reconfigure the social values that determined what lives matter. Discusses the translation of Virgil's Aeneid into Middle Scots by Gavin Douglas (1474-1522), the first translation of a major classical work into either Scots or English, analyzing the role of the narrator/translator in the prologues Douglas wrote, and arguing that by blurring the boundary between his own prefatory material and the Virgil text he was translating, Douglas brought the two elements into relationship to form a unified epic masterpiece.

Uwe Kolbe is one of the major German poets of his generation. Both part of the dissident scene in East Germany and, at the same time, fiercely independent, he early on reworked literary tradition, detailed observation, and personal experience into poems that clearly express his own poetic vision in a distinct voice. I have been moved to write a serious article about teaching style not because I have great and earth-shaking method to impart, but in some sense because I do not, even after years of study—including the small bit of empirical research at the core of this article. American And Iraqi Prose Fiction Of The Iraq War: Traumas Of The Self, Traumas Of The Nation, Ghyath Manhel Alkinani

War is so omnipresent in our contemporary world that the story of war is too important to be left to fiction writers to frame and give meaning for. This dissertation provides an analysis of two dominant patterns in contemporary Iraqi and American prose fictional representations of the Iraq War: the individualistic trauma hero narrative and the nationalistic, collective narrative. I argue that the trauma hero myth that dominates American representations of the Iraq War psychologizes and de-politicizes war experience alienating the victim of trauma by decontextualizing their experience and negating the Other.
