For high school students achieving high ACT/SAT scores is crucial for admittance, scholarships, and coursework requirements. Dual enrollment students still have to meet the admittance and coursework requirements to be enrolled in a dual enrollment course even though the class could be scheduled for more time than the traditional course taught on campus. Social influences on classroom learning have a long research tradition and are critical components of self-regulated learning theories. More recently, researchers have explored the social influences of self-regulated learning in cooperative learning contexts. In these settings, co-regulation of learning and socially-shared regulation of learning strategies have been aligned with self-regulated learning theory. However, without specific training or structure, teachers are not likely to explicitly integrate SRL strategies into their teaching. The purpose of this program evaluation was to evaluate the attendance program at Creekside High School. Creekside High School is a large suburban high school in St. Johns County School District in Northeastern Florida. This program evaluation used longitudinal data over six years, retrieved from the Florida Department of Education’s website, to show the impact of Creekside High School’s attendance program on rates of absenteeism, specifically the percentage of students that were absent 21 or more days. In a prior study we demonstrated that college access program participants have positive views of the extent to which the program supports the development of their social and emotional skills and related college help-seeking behaviors in college. In this follow-up study, we explore the extent to which participant views vary by length of participation in the program in high school (i.e., dosage) and the extent to which alumni enrolled in college differ from college graduate alumni in their perceptions of the influences of the college access program. This study reports the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) on the interest and Advanced Placement (AP) Biology exam scores of high school students. The experimental group was exposed to a constructivist PBL environment using an overarching unit problem, inquiry style lab investigations and white board discussions while the comparison group received direct instruction in the same curriculum. AP Biology exam scores were collected for two years with direct instruction and two years with PBL instruction. The paper explores the demographic characteristics (age, gender, experience, and education levels) among teachers in remote public secondary schools in Tanzania and their implications for teacher retention. The data were collected using a survey questionnaire involving 152 teachers from 23 remote schools, located in three districts of Kondoa, Mpwapwa and Chemba in Dodoma region, the central part of Tanzania. The results showed that most of the teachers in remote public secondary schools are males (76.3%), aged between 23–30 years (65.1%); and the majority are below 36 years (89.4%), with bachelor’s degree as their highest education qualification (58.6%), and have stayed …

Within this case study, the principal of the school was Latinx, grew up within the same community as the school, and therefore shared the same culture as his students.
