The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted educational landscapes by disrupting instructional modalities, widening equity gaps, and accelerating the mental health needs of students and educators. This qualitative study explores the perspectives of school-based restorative justice (RJ) practitioners as they navigated challenges and opportunities during the pandemic and reflected on its potential role in recovery efforts. Through a participatory action research (PAR) process, survey data were collected from RJ practitioners and leaders across diverse educational settings to examine (1) the impact of the pandemic on RJ implementation, (2) the priorities of educators in pandemic recovery, and (3) the role RJ can …

Today's allied health students and their professors are faced with many challenges, including the low level of health literacy among the United States population. Healthy People 2020 defined health literacy as “the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions” (Healthy People 2030). This definition was expanded in Healthy People 2030, to include concepts related to personal and organizational health literacy. This Capstone project examines the historical impact of African American chefs on American gastronomy, highlighting their substantial contributions to the nation's culinary heritage from 1619 to 2024. By employing Jessica B. Harris's book High on the Hog as a foundation, the research identifies a critical gap in existing study abroad programs: the Black diaspora within the United States. Screen Foundations: How Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Can Implement ‘Family Media Use Plans’ in Primary Care to Reduce Pediatric Behavior Concerns

Problem: Parents of children 2-5 years-old increasingly reach out to PCPs for escalating behavior concerns, including when the child doesn’t listen well, is inattentive, having tantrums, meltdowns, hitting, yelling, etc. Referrals to psychiatry and/or play therapy result in long waits, or referrals not accepted. Coincidingly, toddler and preschool aged children continue to exceed daily screen time recommendations. This results in a gap of care for families with young children and externalizing behavior.

Indigenous communities have endured the long-standing impacts of U.S. Federal Indian boarding school policy. The history of Indigenous boarding school policies and the underlying intent to enact cultural genocide is unknown and unacknowledged. The perspectives of Indigenous Peoples have been excluded from dominant narratives, and until recently, from heritage site programming, leading to intergenerational trauma, fragmented identities, and the misrepresentation of Indigenous cultures and experiences. Because K-12 teachers have access to private educational data, they are increasingly at risk of being affected by cybersecurity threats. Examining how teachers conceptualize cybersecurity is vital so that cybersecurity training can be tailored to teachers’ understanding of cybersecurity. This study examined K-12 teachers’ (n = 255) personalized definitions of cybersecurity as these perceptions may influence online behaviors. These definitions were also reviewed by teacher type (cybersecurity teacher or non-cybersecurity teacher), teacher self-identified gender, and teacher age. This ethnographic case study investigates the spatializations of Puerto Ricans in New Mexico, a state where the community is small, dispersed, and often invisible. The purpose of this study is to examine how Puerto Rican identity is shaped, expressed, and contested across New Mexican spaces. Drawing from critical spatial theory, this study investigates how broader structures such as language ideologies become spatialized in the everyday lives of five Puerto Rican adults living in the Albuquerque area. The purpose of this research was to evaluate gender representation in recommended literature in wind band repertoire and prominent performances. I collected data from music lists approved by the National Band Association (NBA) state chapters, programs from the Midwest Clinic and College Band Directors National Association, music vendor catalogues, the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series, and Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) Music Performance Assessment (MPA) past performances. I evaluated names of composers to determine the male-female ratios and quantities for recommended works from these sources. Purpose: This empirical study examined an interprofessional education (IPE) experience designed to develop communication and collaboration skills among Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and nursing (NSG) students at a university in Virginia. Method: Second-year DPT students acted as peer educators, teaching patient management and mobility skills to first-year nursing students, with first-year DPT students serving as standardized patients. Result: A mixed-methods analysis of surveys and reflections from 106 participants indicated generally positive perceptions of the activity, which was described as engaging, collaborative, and relevant to future practice. The purpose of this review article aims to explore the effect of innovative, active learning methods, such as the flipped classroom, compared to traditional lectures to assess whether academic performance and learning outcomes are improved and result in better student engagement and knowledge retention. A literature search using the PubMed database was conducted. Six journal articles were identified that provided evidence to support the purpose of the article review. Findings demonstrated a higher academic performance in the flipped classroom. Results showed test scores were significantly higher for a majority of the flipped classroom courses. The purpose of this study was to investigate high school principals’ Sensemaking of a school reopening policy during the COVID-19 pandemic. I inquired about four high school Principals, in the State of Florida, made sense of an Executive Order to reopen schools during a pandemic. As method, I applied Weick (1995) interpretivist framework of Sensemaking as reconceptualized by Coetzee & Wilkinson (2020), as both a theoretical and an analytic framework for a priori analysis.
