Examining The Effects Of Principals’ Transformational Leadership On Teachers’ Creative Practices And Students’ Performance In Problem-Solving, Jeremy Strickland Owoh
Theses and Dissertations
In today’s technology enriched schools and workforces, creative problem-solving is involved in many aspects of a person’s life. The educational systems of developed nations are designed to raise students who are creative and skillful in solving complex problems. Technology and the age of information require nations to develop generations of students who are creative and capable of solving new and complex problems. In this study, the researcher addressed the problem by examining whether the principal transformational leadership (intellectual stimulation and inspirational motivation), organizational support, technological awareness programs, and teachers’ creative practices influence students’ performance in creative problem-solving. Data were collected …

Perceptions Of The Influence Of Black Greek Affiliation On Involvement, Engagement, And Persistence On Black Male Student Success: Differences Between A Historically Black University And A Predominantly White Institution, Eric Dwayne Flowers
Theses and Dissertations
While there is research on the impact of Greek Letter Organization membership on college student engagement and success, the focus is primarily on the experiences of White students with mixed results. The findings in these studies include lower moral and cognitive development and less concern for social issues than their non-Greek counterparts. However, other research has identified potentially positive outcomes associated with Greek membership, including increased opportunities for leadership development and higher levels of student involvement. In particular, participation in Black Greek Letter Fraternities (BGLFs) has consistently been found to be the most popular avenue for African American men as …

Teaching Creative Writing In The Age Of Common Core, Casey Unverferth
Honors Projects
The core of my honors project includes a 12-day unit plan for teaching creative writing in the form of narratives. I created lessons for 12 days, created the materials needed for each day, and created a website where my work has been displayed for my future classroom. The website link is: teachcreatewrite.weebly.com. All materials for the unit plan are broken down by day, and I chose to expand upon 3 days in a short lesson plan template.

A Study Of The Effect Of School Management Upon 4th And 8th Grade Math And Reading Results In Relation To Market Driven Theory, Reginald Kirkland
Master's Theses and Doctoral Dissertations
There are several types of organizations that propose to educate students living within a large urban city in southeastern Michigan. These organizations manage portfolios of schools and differ in a variety of ways. Some of them are for-profit corporations, and others are nonprofit. There is a portfolio of schools directly managed by the traditional public school system, and yet another managed by a state agency. In addition to the aforementioned, there are several that are empowered by state law to authorize charter schools to founding boards of directors, who who in turn contract with management companies or attempt to manage …

Teacher Quality And Well-Being: A Q-Squared Analysis, Lisa Keovongsa, Macleans A. Geo-Jaja
Journal of Undergraduate Research
Literature review argues that teachers are the most important element in determining the quality of a national education system (Gopinathan 2006). While quality education is often defined in the narrower sense of measurable outcomes, teachers still play an equally significant role in achieving widespread quality through developing critical thinking skills and instilling the value of education. In the context of Cambodia, education appears at a deficit in consideration of the country’s high drop out rates and low percentages of passing graduation. With this in mind, I decided to examine Cambodian teacher quality and their perspectives on well-being as well as …

Each year approximately 700,000 U.S. children aged 0–19 years sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI) placing them at risk for academic, cognitive, and behavioural challenges. Although TBI has been a special education disability category for 25 years, prevalence studies show that of the 145,000 students each year who sustain long-term injury from TBI, less than 18% are identified for special education services. With few students with TBI identified for special education, TBI is mistakenly viewed as a low-incidence disability, and is covered minimally in educator preparation. We surveyed educators and found that they lacked knowledge, applied skills, and self-efficacy in …
