Despite strides in providing resources for neurodivergent and geriatric patients, access to suitable dental care remains a challenge. A survey revealed finding capable dentists as the primary barrier to care for special needs individuals. Transitioning from pediatric to adult care lacks continuity, highlighting gaps in predoctoral dental education. Challenges include inadequate training, limited opportunities for continuing education, and reimbursement issues. Collaboration between medical and dental leaders is crucial for addressing these pressing issues and ensuring equitable access to care.

Alternative certification programs (ACPs) recently gained popularity due to their brevity and appeal to second-career candidates. However, research shows that alternatively certified teachers often need more pedagogical skills than traditionally certified teachers, leading to the possibility of experiencing challenges their first year as an educator. To address this problem, the role of ACPs in teacher preparation was investigated to identify ways to close the gaps and provide ongoing support to alternatively certified teachers. The Louisiana State University Agricultural Center’s Agricultural Leadership Development Program (LSU AgCenter ALDP) is a two-year nonformal education program for participants connected to various aspects of the agricultural and natural resources sectors. The purpose of the study was to describe the perspectives of graduates of the LSU AgCenter ALDP since 2005 regarding their self-reported outcomes after completing the program. The study used a qualitative, instrumental case study design, based on 12 semi-structured interviews, observation, and document analysis. The study employed adult learning theory and social capital theory as the theoretical frameworks to understand the impact of the program on participants. …

Pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) traditionally has been used in research concerning prospective and practicing classroom teachers. This essay argues that PCK is also relevant to other professions including those advancing quantitative reasoning (QR). To illustrate, the case of PCK for teaching QR is considered. Nontraditional adult learners (NALs) account for near 40% of all students enrolled in postsecondary institutions in the United States. NALs differ from traditional college students in that they are more likely to be over the age of 23, have dependents, be a single parent, or be employed full-time in conjunction with college enrollment. A diverse healthcare workforce is ideal to treat a patient population that is also becoming increasingly diverse. We examined the experiences of minoritized students pursuing healthcare-related degrees, including athletic training, in pre-medicine and healthcare professions. Methods: We used a phenomenological approach to explore the lived experiences of 10 minoritized pre-medicine and healthcare profession students (age=20±2 years). Switching from a white-collar professional to a sex worker is not an easy step, particularly for individuals with a postgraduate degree in South Korea who may have significant expectations from their parents, peers, and communities. Based on the social stigma theory and social cognitive career and motivation theory, this study aims to understand how stress and pressure impact the motivations, career decisions, and decision-making processes of individualized and freelance male sex workers and their career transition experiences in South Korea.
