That’s according to an estimate of the ancient climate of the Gray Fossil Site, part of the results of a new study that uses fossil teeth to explore how climate has changed across North America over the past 37 million years.

JOHNSON CITY – (Jan. 19, 2021) East Tennessee State University’s esports varsity program will soon add a new team.

Plans were announced today to launch a Rocket League esports team, bringing the university’s number of esports programs to three.  Last year, ETSU began recruiting for its Overwatch and League of Legends teams, and esports Head Coach Jeff Shell said the search has already begun for the six students who will comprise the inaugural Rocket League team.

Pakistan's fashion and apparel market has shown comprehensive growth during the last decade. This paper aims to investigate the impact of design perception on consumer based brand equity and examines the mediating role of experiential value and moderating role of openness to experience. Data was collected from 210 consumers of textile apparel brands in Pakistan. Findings of the study reveal that there is a significant relationship between design perception and consumer based brand equity, experiential value mediates the relationship between design perception and consumer based brand equity. JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 14, 2021) – Azael Rodriguez-Roman has joined the ranks of more than 1,500 cadets commissioned at East Tennessee State University since its ROTC Program began more than 65 years ago.


Rodriguez-Roman was a member of the Eddie Reed Range Challenge Team and completed Nursing Summer Training at Fort Carson, Colorado, in summer of 2019. He took the oath of office earlier this month during a small ceremony led by Maj. Kent Monas, professor of military science at ETSU. Rodriguez-Roman commissioned as a second lieutenant into the Army Nursing Corps.

This study presents a novel approach to price optimization in order to maximize revenue for the distribution market of non-perishable products. Data analysis techniques such as association mining, statistical modeling, machine learning, and an automated machine learning platform are used to forecast the demand for products considering the impact of pricing. The techniques used allow for accurate modeling of the customer’s buying patterns including cross effects such as cannibalization and the halo effect. JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 7, 2020) – Dr. Hadii Mamudu, professor in the Department of Health Services Management and Policy in the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health, authored an article that examines the disproportionately burdened central Appalachian region’s health literacy about cardiovascular disease.


The article, which appeared in the October 2020 issue of the Southern Medical Journal, is titled “Cardiovascular Diseases Health Literacy among Patients, Health Professionals, and Community-Based Stakeholders in a Predominantly Medically Underserved Rural Environment.”

JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 7, 2021) – Samuel Garcia, a sophomore Roan Scholar at East Tennessee State University, was recently named a recipient of the U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.


Since 2001, Gilman Scholarships have assisted qualifying students with study or intern abroad experiences by providing them with skills critical to national security and economic prosperity. For many years, Utah has been at the bottom of the rankings for women running for and serving in elected office. Although significant strides have been made in increasing the number of women serving in these roles in recent years, there is still work to be done.
