After extensive research, some of these barriers may have been identified that pose greater risks to generating proper care for those with ASD. Some of these barriers include medical complexity, more sedentary lifestyles, poor food choices, as well as health comorbities. Some of these health comorbidities include hypertension, metabolic dysfunction, sleep apnea, and inflammation. This study aims to understand what barriers and risks for CVD are present in those with ASD.

However, English-centric dispatch systems create barriers for individuals with limited English proficiency, potentially delaying critical responses. This study aims to synthesize research on how language differences impact OHCA recognition and CPR initiation in emergency dispatch settings. We report a case of a 79-year-old male with no reported past medical history but a significant lifelong smoking history who presented to the emergency department with generalized weakness, lower abdominal pain, hypotension, tachycardia, and a reported syncopal episode. Emergency medical services (EMS) found the patient at home during a welfare check, appearing pale and weak. Anabolic steroids including testosterone are commonly used as performance-enhancing agents. Its use is predominantly seen in young and middle-aged males. Endogenous testosterone is necessary for cardiac health; however, synthetic anabolic steroids are more potent and associated with adverse effects. These adverse effects include cardiomyopathy and coronary artery disease. The cardiomyopathy, however, can be reversible with discontinuation of the anabolic steroids. This case describes a middle-aged male who had new onset cardiomyopathy and ultimately went into cardiogenic shock secondary to anabolic steroid use.

Tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) overdose is an uncommon complication that results from excessive administration of TCAs. Signs and symptoms include bradycardia, fever, dry mouth, and altered mental status. Patients can develop cardiac arrhythmia and diffuse alveolar hemorrhage, which can be fatal. This case report details a 65-year-old female who experienced a suspected TCA overdose as a suicide attempt. She had a history of depression and a previous suicide attempt.
