Porcine epidemic diarrhea is caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), which causes swine watery diarrhea and higher mortality rates in piglets less than one week of age. Outbreaks of PED affect to economic loss, especially in a swine industrial country. Many strategies were used for preventing the outbreak and infection of PEDV, especially maternal antibody stimulation in pigs and then transfer to piglet through colostrum or milk. Retinal (retinaldehyde) is one of natural vitamin A metabolites. It is widely used in clinical dermatology such as acne, acne scar, photoaging, wrinkles, psoriasis, skin neoplasia and seborrheic dermatitis. Retinal is a pivotal key to regulate keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation in the epidermis resulting in epidermal thickening and inhibit collagen destruction in the dermis. However, topical application of retinal is still irritative to the skin and chemically and photochemically unstable. Topically applied retinal can induce a retinoid dermatitis. Flavobacterium columnare is Gram negative bacteria which caused columnaris disease in various kinds of freshwater fishes. This study is the first report of F. columnare infection in freshwater culturing Asian sea bass in Thailand. Phenotypic characterization, antimicrobial susceptibility test and quinolone resistant-associated genes of F. columnare were performed. A total 15 of F. columnare were isolated from diseased fishes and phylogenetic analysis revealed that these isolates were belonged to genetic group 2 and 4. Campylobacter has been known as an important cause of gastroenteritis in humans. The primary source is raw or undercooked poultry meat. Previous study showed that Campylobacter isolated from slaughterhouses were associated with Campylobacter isolated from broiler farms. Thus, detection of Campylobacter flock status and sorting flocks prior to slaughtering processes may help prevent Campylobacter contamination between Campylobacter-positive and negative flocks during slaughtering processes. A total of 809 samples of pig rectal swab from slaughterhouses (n=441) and pork from retail market (n=368) were collected in the border provinces among Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar between October 2016 and March 2017. The objective of this study was to determine resistance to extended-spectrum ß-lactams (ESBLs) and colistin in Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli. A total of Salmonella (n=463) and E. coli (n=767) were collected and determined for the ESBL-production and for the Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs) of colistin and; the presence of ESBL gene and mcr gene. In this study, we aimed to detect antimicrobial resistance determinants and virulence factor genes in V. parahaemolyticus isolates from cultivated oysters and estuarine waters in southern Thailand. A total of 594 V. parahaemolyticus isolates were collected from pooled oysters (n=361) and estuarine waters (n=233). The samples were collected monthly between March 2016 and February 2017 from Thap Put district, Phang Nga province in southern Thailand. Twenty-six osteoarthritic cats concurrent with chronic kidney disease (CKD) enrolled in this study. All cats were divided randomly into 2 groups; control group (n=12) received placebo and treatment group (n=14) received PCSO-524 for 60 days. Cats had verified stable CKD stage II and had treated and followed up for CKD more than 3 months were included in our study. Fifty stifles from Pomeranians and Chihuahuas with over five years old were enrolled in this study, which are 8 normal stifles and 42 medial patellar luxation (MPL) stifles. All MPL stifles were assigned randomly into 2 groups, including control and treatment groups. The control group was received placebo daily for 16 weeks, while treatment group was fed with PCSO-524 for 16 weeks. Brachycephalic airway obstruction syndromes (BAOS) are the most common respiratory problems in brachycephalic dogs. Surgical treatment which are staphylectomy and alaplasty is commonly used for correction primary lesions of BAOS. The purpose of this study is to compare clinical outcome of post staphylectomy using ultrasonic scalpel and bipolar sealing devices. Twenty brachycephalic dogs were included for staphylectomy and randomly separated into two groups. งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของการใช้กากชา ต่อประสิทธิภาพการใช้อาหาร การย่อยได้ปรากฏ การเปลี่ยนแปลงของเมทาโบไลท์ในเลือด และการผลิตก๊าซมีเทน ในอาหารที่ใช้เลี้ยงแพะนมลูกผสม วางแผนการวิจัยแบบสลับ (3 x 3 crossover design) โดยใช้แพะนมลูกผสมพันธุ์ซาแนนจำนวน 9 ตัว น้ำหนักเฉลี่ย 30 ± 3.50 กิโลกรัม เป็นแม่แพะที่ผ่านการคลอดมาแล้ว (multiparous) และอยู่ในช่วงให้ผลผลิตน้ำนมหลังคลอด (lactation) การทดลองแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ช่วง โดยในช่วง 14 วันแรกจะเป็นช่วงของการปรับตัว ช่วงที่เหลืออีก 7 วันจะเป็นช่วงของการเก็บตัวอย่างและข้อมูล แพะแต่ละตัวได้รับอาหารทั้งสามสูตรที่มีการเสริมกากชาลงในสัดส่วนที่ 0 5 และ 10 เปอร์เซ็นต์น้ำหนักแห้งในรูปของอาหารผสมเสร็จ (Total mixed ration; TMR) (กลุ่มที่ 1 2 และ 3 ตามลำดับ) มีการคำนวณระดับโปรตีนและพลังงานเท่ากันทุกสูตร (isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets) ทำการเก็บตัวอย่าง ได้แก่ อาหาร เลือด ปัสสาวะ มูล น้ำนม และของเหลวจากกระเพาะรูเมน เพื่อที่จะประเมินค่าพารามิเตอร์ที่สังเกตหลายชนิด ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ไม่มีความแตกต่างกันทางสถิติในกลุ่มทดลองของปริมาณการกินได้ ผลผลิตน้ำนม ค่าเมทาโบไลท์ในเลือด (กลูโคส ไตรกลีเซอไรด์ โปรตีนรวม) ค่าพีเอชในกระเพาะรูเมน กรดไขมันระเหย (volatile fatty acids; VFAs) ค่าอัลลานโทอิน (allantoin) ค่าสมดุลไนโตรเจนและผลผลิตก๊าซมีเทน ส่วนประกอบของโปรตีนในน้ำนมในกลุ่มที่ 3 มีความแตกต่างกันทางสถิติ (p<0.05) เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มที่ 1 และ 2 ค่าการย่อยได้ของวัตถุแห้งในกลุ่มที่ 3 สูงกว่าในกลุ่มที่ 2 อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) แต่ไม่แตกต่างจากกลุ่มที่ 1 ส่วนกลุ่มที่ 2 มีค่าการย่อยได้ของสารอินทรีย์ โปรตีนและ NDF ต่ำที่สุดในทุกกลุ่ม อย่างไรก็ตาม กลุ่มที่ 3 มีค่าการย่อยได้ของ NDF และ ADF สูงที่สุดเมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มอื่น จากผลการศึกษาสรุปได้ว่า สามารถใช้กากชาได้ถึงระดับ 10 เปอร์เซ็นต์น้ำหนักแห้งในสูตรอาหาร เพื่อเป็นแหล่งโปรตีนในอาหารที่ใช้เลี้ยงแพะนมลูกผสมผสมซาเนนได้ โดยไม่ก่อให้เกิดผลเสียต่อปริมาณการให้ผลผลิตและนิเวศวิทยาในกระเพาะรูเมน อย่างไรก็ตาม การเสริมกากชาที่ระดับ 5 และ 10 เปอร์เซ็นต์น้ำหนักแห้งในสูตรอาหารไม่ส่งผลต่อการผลิตก๊าซมีเทน

Background: The recent emergence of Zika virus (ZIKV) in Brazil and its precipitous expansion throughout the Americas has highlighted the urgent need for a rapid and reliable on-site diagnostic assay suitable for viral detection. Such point-of-need (PON), low-cost diagnostics are essential for ZIKV control in vulnerable areas with limited resources.

A hallmark property of the neurotropic alpha-herpesvirinae is the dissemination of infection to sensory and autonomic ganglia of the peripheral nervous system following an initial exposure at mucosal surfaces. The peripheral ganglia serve as the latent virus reservoir and the source of recurrent infections such as cold sores (herpes simplex virus type I) and shingles (varicella zoster virus). However, the means by which these viruses routinely invade the nervous system is not fully understood. Zika virus (ZIKV), a mosquito-transmitted flavivirus responsible for sporadic outbreaks of mild and febrile illness in Africa and Asia, reemerged in the last decade causing serious human diseases, including microcephaly, congenital malformations, and Guillain-Barré syndrome. Although genomic and phylogenetic analyses suggest that genetic evolution may have led to the enhanced virulence of ZIKV, experimental evidence supporting the role of specific genetic changes in virulence is currently lacking. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) from rubber seed kernel (RSK) on growth performance and reproductive performance in dairy heifers. Twelve healthy and cycling Holstein Friesian dairy heifers were randomly divided into two dietary treatments as control group (TMR without RSK; (mean±SD) 31.82±4.25% PUFAs out of 2.65% total fatty acids) and RSK group (TMR containing RSK at 6.16%; 43.93±1.26% PUFAs out of 3.55% total fatty acids). The present study was aimed to investigate body condition, hepatic insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1, IGF binding protein (BP)-1 and growth hormone receptor (GHR) mRNA abundance and specific energy metabolites in association with delayed ovarian resumption in Holstein lactating cows. Of 10 cows studied, 5 cows had normal ovarian resumption (NR group), whereas the remaining 5 cows had delayed ovarian resumption (AB group) within 7 wks after calving. The total sulfur amino acid (TSAA) requirements of commercial meat-type ducks were investigated by feeding diets supplemented with graded levels of DL-methionine (DL-met) compared with the standard recommendation for the strain during 3 growth phases. Five hundred male White Pekin ducklings were divided into 4 treatments, each of which consisted of 5 replicates (25 each) using a completely randomized design. From the birds aged 1-9 and 10-16 days, TSAA deficit diet significantly depressed growth rate and feed intake (P<0.05). During 10-16 days of age, the growth rate of the birds fed TSAA at 110% of the commercial requirement was faster than that of the 100% group, with the increase in growth rate and feed intake paralleling the TSAA intake (P<0.01). No significant effects of the TSAA level on productive performance of the birds from age 17-47 days were found. At the age of 47 days, increasing the TSAA levels up to 120% tended to decrease abdominal fat content (P=0.08), and significantly decreased blood uric acid concentration (P<0.01). There were no significant differences in carcass components and lipid profile in the serum. The TSAA level for optimum growth rate and FCR in commercial meat-type ducks is 100-110% of the recommended level for the strain, except during 10-16 days of age when 110% is recommended.

Multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MDR S. aureus) is predominately present in humans and animals. Staphylococcal enterotoxin (SE) is one of the representative toxins produced by S. aureus. The drug resistance patterns, presence of eighteen SE genes and staphylococcal cassette chromosome (SCCmec) in S. aureus strains isolated from human cellulitis, septicemia, mastitis and farmed ruminant mastitis were investigated and analyzed. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA) accounted for 51.35% (76/148) and 48.65% (72/148), respectively. In order to prove the effect of “fixed time service”, this study aimed to determine reproductive efficiency of hormone manipulation to induce ovulation and improve pregnancy rate. Estrus cycles of fifty mares were monitored every other day until ovulation by ultrasound (control group). The purpose of this open-label clinical trial was to evaluate the efficacy of these two products for the management of canine localized superficial pyoderma.
