This study was carried out in crossbred cows (>60 DIM) to evaluate leukocyte esterase (LE) strip test, protein strip test, pH strip test, white side test (WST) of estrual mucus, in comparison to endometrial cytology (EC) using cytobrush (CB) as reference diagnostic method for subclinical endometritis (SCE). Endometrial cytology was done in 78 cows with ≥4% PMNs as cut-off value for SCE. This study aimed to investigate the effect of hyperketonemia on estrogen, progesterone and ovarian follicle size during postpartum as well as on pregnancy rate at first insemination. Regarding this, 90 Holstein cows were selected from one of the industrial dairy farms in Isfahan province, Iran. Estrus synchronization was routinely applied to all cows using the Ovsynch method. The blood sample of the cows was taken two times. The Effect Of Rangeland Quality On The Mohair Quality Of Angora Goats Fed On The Natural Rangelands, Betül Zehra Sariçi̇çek

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the rangeland quality of Ankara goats fed on some natural rangeland in Ankara on the mohair quality. The research was carried out in 3 different quality natural rangelands in Ankara province. Crude protein, ether extract, Ca, Fe, N, energy contents and digestibility, in vitro gas production, and relative feed values of good quality rangeland plants were the highest compared to other rangelands, but the crude fiber, acid detergent fiber, and neutral detergent fiber were the lowest (p < 0.05). In the study were used a total of 120 animals (20 males, 20 females in each farm) from 3 farms where Angora goats are raised in the region of rangelands. The mohair quality was determined in mohair samples taken from 6 month old, 1.5, and 2.5-yearold animals. Rangeland quality significantly affected mohair lengths, fineness, elasticity, tenacity, and clean mohair yield, in males and females (p < 0.05). The highest values were obtained from goats fed good quality rangeland (p < 0.05). The effect of age on these features was also important. The mohair quality (length, elasticity, tenacity) increased with increasing age (p < 0.05). The effect of the rangeland quality on the nozzle number was not significant, but the effect of age was significant. and, the nozzles number increased with increasing age. The nozzle depth was affected by the rangeland quality and age. The nozzle depth has increased due to the increase in rangeland quality and age. While the mohair Ca, Mg, S, Fe, and N content of male and female goats were higher in goats fed on good quality rangeland, these were lower in goats fed low-quality rangeland (p < 0.05). While mohair Na content positively affected rangeland quality in females (p < 0.01), was insignificant in males.

Sea pens or pennatulaceans (Phylum Cnidaria, Order Pennatulacea) are colonial marine octocorals that typically anchor themselves into soft sediment. They make large colonies from the intertidal zone down to the abyssal plain that provide an important structural habitat to other organisms. In the present study, the morphological and histological characteristics of the dominant species of Virgularia gustaviana, the dominant sea pen species of the Persian Gulf, were surveyed. The study examined the knowledge, beliefs, and attitudinal drivers of technical staff and breeders regarding tail docking and the incidence of docking on large-scale dairy farms (≥100 cattle) in Turkey. Survey responses were analyzed using the Mann?Whitney U test to determine attitudinal differences between respondents who self-reported docking tails or not docking their cattle. Using face-toface interviews of 210 respondents at 206 Turkish dairy farms was carried out. Tail docking procedures were practiced on 27.1% of the surveyed farms. In this study, it was aimed to isolate Pasteurella multocida from 1250 lung samples (calf, sheep, and goat), with respiratory system infection, such as nasal discharge, cough, fever, and to investigate the phenotypic and genotypic properties of this bacteria. As a result, a total of 92 P. multocida were obtained, of which 66 (71.73%) were from calf, 19 (20.65%) from sheep, and 7 (7.6%) from goat. The aim of this study was to analyse semen quality parameters of fresh-extended porcine semen imported from Denmark through prolonged importing regulations and transport and to analyse fertility performance in sows inseminated four days post semen collection. Semen was analysed immediately upon the arrival (4 days post collection) using computer-assisted sperm analyses (CASA), cytomorphology and flow cytometry, and sows were inseminated later the same day. This research was carried out to determine the seroprevalence of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus (BVDV), Bovine Herpes Virus 1 (BoHV-1), and Bovine Herpes Virus 4 (BoHV-4) in cattle (n = 188) in Ağrı province of Eastern Anatolia Region, Turkey. Gray seals (Halichoerus grypus) are a common pinniped species in New England coastal waters. Parasitic infection is an important cause of mortality for this species, and lungworm species are frequently implicated in cases of respiratory infection, especially in pups and weanling seals. The most common of these is Otostrongylus circumlitus, a large nematode found in the bronchi and bronchioles of affected seals. The full life cycle is unknown but its presence in lungs and sometimes pulmonary arteries suggests that migration via arterial circulation occurs. Chronic wasting  disease (CWD)  is  a 100  percent  fatal,  prion  disease of  deer  that  has  the potential  to decimate  the  deer  population and  jump to  the  human  population.   A  simple  Google  search on  the  “origin of  chronic wasting  disease” yielded  a total  of  56  relevant  articles.   Of  these,  75  percent  report  that  the origin  is  unknown,  19.6  percent  report  that  the  disease  may  have  originated  in  a  Fort  Collins,  Colorado, government  research facility, and 5.4 percent  report  other  possible  origins.  Government  sources  reported the  Fort  Collins  theory  4.3 percent  of  the  time  while  non-governmental  sources,  such  as news articles, reported …

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) has been reported significantly increases in inflammation environment and plays pivotal roles in osteogenic differentiation and matrix mineralization enhancement. However, the regulating pathways governing osteogenic differentiation potential by human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) under IL-6 treatment are still unclear. To elucidate this phenomenon, the pathway inhibiton and stimulation strategies were employed. Osteogenic and pathway-related mRNA marker expression, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, matrix mineralization, and b-catenin stabilization and translocation were analyzed. The etiology of canine Legg-Calve-Perthes disease (LCPD) is still unknown. The current treatments are conservative and surgery. Although non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), nutraceuticals, and rehabilitation were used in the conservative treatment, it only had a 25% success rate. In a dog with severe clinical signs and bony change in radiography, the femoral head and neck ostectomy were selected. This procedure could decrease pain, but in clinical evaluation with force plate and kinetic and kinematic measurements, the dogs were shown to have lameness. In this study, the post-operative pain and inflammation management after undergoing medial patellar luxation surgery in dogs by the use of CBD ointment and topical NSIADs were compared. The data was collected from the surgery during November 2021 to April 2022, including 10 Pomeranians and 4 Chihuahuas, which were medial patellar luxation (MPL) grade 3. The samples were divided into 3 groups, inclusive of control group and treatment groups that were samples receiving CBD ointment and topical NSAIDs. Suicide, stress, and burnout are occurring at high rates among veterinary professionals, and the transition from student to practicing veterinarian has been shown to be a particularly stressful time. The aim of this study was to evaluate an online professional development program for new veterinary graduates incorporating peer social support and training in professional skills important for success in the transition to practice. In this mixed methods study, the program was evaluated qualitatively with focus group data and quantitatively by assessing knowledge gained and levels of stress, burnout, social support, and well-being. Proximal sesamoid bone (PSB) injuries account for approximately 50% of all fatal catastrophic musculoskeletal injuries in Thoroughbred racehorses. In addition, PSB fractures are not uncommon in Thoroughbred foals and yearlings as a result of energetic or intense free exercise. Proximal sesamoid bone (PSB) fractures are one of the most commonly reported catastrophic musculoskeletal injuries (CMI) in Thoroughbred racing. Despite the seriousness of these injuries, an understanding of the structural changes that occur normally within PSBs in response to the biomechanical forces of high-speed exercise and how they relate to pathological events leading to fracture remain limited. Leptospirosis is a reemerging zoonotic infection of worldwide importance and affects all mammals. The bacterium is transmitted to animals and humans by urine, fetal membranes and body fluids. Leptospira shedding in the urine contaminates both soil and water, exposing both humans and animals to the bacterium. Leptospirosis in horses can cause abortion and is one of the etiologies of equine recurrent uveitis which can lead to blindness. Equine leptospiral abortion in Central Kentucky is primarily caused by serovar Pomona, with occasional cases attributed to serovar Grippotyphosa. Aging is associated with a loss of skeletal muscle mass in horses, and while age-related muscle loss is comparingly well characterized in humans, little is currently known concerning underlying mechanisms, adverse outcomes, or the prevalence of low muscle mass in senior horses. New research has suggested the ability of Pseudomonas, a common spoilage microorganism, to grow in cooked beef products stored under vacuum which challenges the traditional understanding of the role of Pseudomonas during cooked beef spoilage. Understanding the mechanisms of survival and growth of Pseudomonas in these products is crucial for improving shelf life. The objective of this experiment was to determine Pseudomonas survival in a thermally processed, emulsified cooked beef model system.
