งานวิจัยเรื่อง อัตลักษณ์ทางดนตรีของทำนองจะเข้ในบทเพลงประเภททางพื้นของ ครูนิภา อภัยวงศ์ วัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษามูลบทที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการถ่ายทอดการบรรเลงจะเข้ของ ครูนิภา อภัยวงศ์และศึกษาอัตลักษณ์ของทำนองจะเข้ในบทเพลงประเภททางพื้นของครูนิภา อภัยวงศ์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ในด้านการถ่ายทอดการบรรเลงจะเข้ของครูนิภา อภัยวงศ์ ครูมีการถ่ายทอดให้กับลูกศิษย์ 2 กลุ่ม คือ กลุ่มนักศึกษาที่ชมรมดนตรีไทย มหาวิทยาลัยรามคำแหงและกลุ่มลูกศิษย์ส่วนตัวที่มาศึกษาที่บ้าน โดยครูมีการคัดเลือกลูกศิษย์ทุกคนก่อนทำการถ่ายทอด การถ่ายทอดใช้วิธีการนอยปากและสาธิตการดีดให้ดู ไม่มีการใช้โน้ตเพลง เริ่มสอนตั้งแต่พื้นฐานการพันไม้ดีด การใช้ไม้ดีด โดยเริ่มต่อเพลงตั้งแต่ตับต้นเพลงฉิ่งสามชั้นไปจบด้วยเพลงเดี่ยวขั้นสูง โดยพิจารณาให้เหมาะสมตามความสามารถของผู้เรียน สอนลูกศิษย์ด้วยความเมตตาทำให้เกิดความผูกพันเป็นอย่างมากระหว่างครูและศิษย์ ในด้านอัตลักษณ์ของทำนองจะเข้พบว่าการแปรทำนองจะเข้มี 8 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ 1. การดำเนินทำนองแบบเรียงเสียง 2. การดำเนินทำนองแบบสับทำนองสลับเสียงสูงต่ำ 3. การดำเนินทำนองแบบย้ำเสียงเดิม 4. การดำเนินทำนองโดดเสียงขึ้น 3 และ 4 เสียง 5. การดำเนินทำนองแบบหักเสียงโดยฉับพลัน 6. การดำเนินทำนองแบบยอกย้อนทำนอง 7. การดำเนินทำนองแบบฝากทำนอง และ 8. การดำเนินทำนองโดยการใช้กลวิธีต่าง ๆ ของจะเข้แทรกอยู่ในทำนอง เม็ดพรายของทำนองจะเข้มี 3 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ 1. การสะบัด 2. การใช้สายลวด และ 3. การบรรเลงไม่ซ้ำทำนอง

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องกลวิธีการเป่าปี่ชวาในบทเพลงเพื่อการแสดงอาวุธของครูปี๊บ คงลายทอง (ศิลปินแห่งชาติ) เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาบทเพลงเพื่อการแสดงอาวุธและกลวิธีการเป่าปี่ชวาในบทเพลงเพื่อการแสดงอาวุธ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า บทเพลงเพื่อการแสดงอาวุธมีจำนวน 6 บทเพลง ได้แก่ เพลงกระบี่ลีลา สองชั้น เพลงโยนดาบ สองชั้น เพลงมอญรำดาบ สองชั้น เพลงโลม สองชั้น และเพลงลงสรง สองชั้น เพลงสองชั้นใช้สำหรับไหว้ครูประจำแต่ละอาวุธ และเพลงโยน-แปลง ใช้สำหรับทุกการแสดงในช่วงเดินแปลงและเข้าต่อสู้ กลวิธีการเป่าปี่ชวาในบทเพลงเพื่อการแสดงอาวุธจะต้องปรับกลุ่มเสียงเพื่อให้ปี่ชวาดำเนินทำนองได้สะดวกทั้งการใช้นิ้วและการใช้ลม อีกทั้งเพื่อให้พบทำนองที่เอื้อต่ออารมณ์ให้มีความฮึกเหิม เพลงที่จะต้องปรับกลุ่มเสียง ได้แก่ เพลงโยนดาบ สองชั้น เพลงมอญรำดาบ สองชั้น เพลงโลม สองชั้น เพลงลงสรง สองชั้น และเพลงที่ไม่ต้องปรับกลุ่มเสียง ได้แก่ เพลงกระบี่ลีลา สองชั้น นอกจากการปรับกลุ่มเสียงเพื่อความสะดวกในการบรรเลงปี่ชวา จะต้องใช้กลวิธีพิเศษเพื่อเพิ่มอรรถรสให้แก่ทำนอง ได้แก่ การตอดลิ้นโดยเป่าลมสั้น การตอดลิ้นตัดลม การตอดลิ้นติดกัน 2 ครั้ง การตอดลมโดยเป่าลมสั้น การปริบ การโปรยเสียง การตีนิ้ว การสะบัด การรวบทำนอง และการกระทบเสียง ซึ่งกลวิธีดังกล่าวในการเป่าปี่ชวาในแต่ละบทเพลงจะต้องศึกษาแบบตัวต่อตัวเพื่อให้ได้รับองค์ความรู้ที่ถูกต้องตามแบบแผนเนื่องจากกลวิธีใช้นิ้วและลมในการเป่าปี่ชวามีรายละเอียดที่ซับซ้อน

Stroke rehabilitation focuses more on restoring function and physical ability and often overlooks the prevalence of psychological symptoms. The prevalence of depression after stroke has been reported to be between 25 and 79 percent. In addition to depression, anxiety, fatigue and apathy are common symptoms after stroke, with a significant overlap in prevalence and symptoms. Music interventions have been reported to evoke and support emotional processes and facilitate engagement in physical movement, making them valuable for stroke rehabilitation. Many studies have investigated the effects of music interventions on negative emotions in stroke patients, but there is still a need for …

In this article, we analyze how a music genre is reciprocally defined online, through the crowdsourced ‘facts’ of Wikipedia. What are the traditional implicit and explicit exclusionary practices in this sort of genre formation? And how can internet-specific sociabilities create new exclusionary practices in the process of defining music? By analyzing the edit history of Wikipedia’s ‘hyperpop’ page, we locate ongoing debates, controversies, and contestations that point to shaping forces around online genre formation. Music education in the United States aims to be for every child, yet many students become less interested in school music as they mature. Although previous research reveals activities that upper-elementary students may prefer, much of this research may not represent 21st-century students, the instruments and activities that have enhanced curricula in recent decades, or more diverse musical offerings from around the globe. Women high school band directors in the state of Iowa may experience teaching in secondary band programs differently than men high school band directors. Previous research has shown that women have faced many challenges in music education, particularly in teaching high school band. Four women band directors from different school class sizes and currently teaching in Iowa were interviewed about their teaching experiences to collect data using a qualitative case study design. The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of three different listening conditions on how students rate their preference of musical genre. The preferences of the students could then be analyzed and incorporated into daily teaching. The participants were fifth-grade students of the researcher. Students (N = 44) were divided into three groups: Listening Only, Small Group Discussion and Teacher Info. There are few more explicit documents of the interconnection of hymnody, mobility, and coloniality than the 1939 film Stanley and Livingstone. Directed by the American duo of Henry King and Otto Brower, much of the picture was filmed “on location” in the British-controlled territories of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanganyika (now part of Tanzania). The film tells the real-life story of a New York journalist (Stanley) searching for a Scottish missionary (Livingstone) and eventually finding him in a town on the north-eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. Hymns, whether composed for religious contexts or as expressions of spiritual reflection, are historically revered for their redemptive nature. For generations, Black Hymnody has cried out for Christological interventions to end shambolic and systemic oppression against Black people. The vicious murder of George Perry Floyd, Jr. on May 25, 2020 reverberated and initiated, as a catalyst, an overdue global awakening that sparked a catalytic moment for conversations too long deferred. In the decades leading up to and during the first years of the Wars of Religion, Huguenots and Catholics waged audible battles over sonic territories using songs as spiritual weapons. Huguenots memorized and communally sang metrical psalms in the vernacular as sonic markers of the Reformed faith. Catholics interpreted these same sounds as pollution in need of eradication. Artus Desiré, for example, responded by producing polemical contrepoison, musical antidotes created by composing new countertexts to Marot’s Psalm tunes to “cleanse” them of their perceived heresy. In the Chaozhou City Gazetteer of Buddhism & Chaozhou Kaiyuan Monastery Gazetteer published in 1992, the then Abbot of the Kaiyuan Monastery, Shi Huiyuan 释慧原 heavily condemned the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911) monk Shi Kesheng 释可声 (date unknown) for "starting the sins among laities in the Chaozhou region who dared transgressing (the Buddhist doctrines) and became chant leaders in a flaming mouth ceremony.” Why was the Abbot so upset with a fellow monk back in history? Noncongregational settings were integral to hymnody in the postbellum settler colonial context of the southern United States during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The incorporation of hymn singing into a wide range of noncongregational settings served Black, white, and Native populations in navigating unsettled racial dynamics during this period across the US South and its diasporas. This essay features three case studies examining hymn collections intended or repurposed for a range of noncongregational uses: spiritual collections connected with the performing ensembles of black institutions, a shape-note songbook that attempted to bridge singing convention and congregational contexts, and a …

Annunciation And The Cross: The Marian Theology Of Incarnation In James Macmillan’S Music And Public Discourse, Joel Clarkson

Many of Scottish composer James MacMillan’s most essential works are influenced by his Catholic faith, and thematically focused on a theological expression of Incarnation and suffering worked out through a dissonant musical style. MacMillan has developed a robust public discourse that includes statements about his faith and the way it informs his music, and his forthright demeanor has often provoked tension with various figures and groups. This article suggests that these two forms of conflict—discordance in his composition, and elements of conflict in his public dialogue—are both driven by a Marian theology of Incarnation that provides the impetus both for …

Though we become desensitized to these feelings, they may pour out of us either subtly or explosively. This grounded theory project aimed to determine how successful middle school band directors display supplemental illustrations, instructions, and reference material in their classrooms. This study is conducted to determine the influence Antonin Dvořák had on the creation of American musical nationalism. Prior literature on the topic coupled with analysis of the musical scores are used to gain understanding of the musical elements that can be seen as a precursor to a uniquely American sound. To illustrate this further, Czech nationalistic pieces by Dvořák and Smetana are used to show a distinct difference in style utilized by Dvořák in his pieces written during his time in America. The purpose of this applied research curriculum project is to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum “Ear Training for Worship Musicians” for non-traditionally trained college students using contemporary musical examples, introducing basic piano skills, and applying the Nashville number system. Current curriculum trends in aural skills training have not addressed the issue of teaching harmonic dictation for worship music to college students who are not traditionally trained. This study applies a quasi-experimental research design with identical pre- and post- implementation quantitative tests and a qualitative online survey once the curriculum is complete. This qualitative method research paper with survey design identifies the need to implement an associate in fine arts degree in music at community colleges located in the rural northwestern and northern regions of North Carolina. A music degree would provide early college students with music courses comparable to those offered in traditional area high schools and greater accessibility for a diverse student population of community college students. Despite much information in outreach in impoverished areas, research has yet to fully show the barriers to music education expansion in poverty-level South Carolina. This qualitative study is conducted using previous data for correlation through research analysis of social attitudes and resource-based barriers to participation rates and expansion of music education throughout South Carolina. Research discovered that impoverished students are much less likely to participate in music education and less than 25% of United States seniors, whether public or privately educated, are actively participating in music education programs.
