Jack Kleinsinger presents Highlights in Jazz. The concert was held at The Pace Downtown Theater, Thursday, December 17th, 1998 at 8:00 pm in cooperation with Pace University Performing Arts, Dr. Nicholas Catalano- University Director. Jack served as producer and master of ceremonies for the series of concerts. Artists for the concert include Louie Bellson, Derek Smith, Byron Stripling, Scott Robinson, and surprise guest Junior Mance.

A Comparative Analysis Of Instrumental Teaching Provision In The Republic Of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland And Denmark, Rachel Nolan

This study is a comparative analysis of the provision for instrumental teaching in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Denmark. It attempts to redress the lack of research on this subject in the Republic of Ireland by examining European systems of music education and comparing the results with instrumental teaching provision in the Republic of Ireland.
Chapter 1 comprises an overview of music education in the Republic of Ireland today. It consists of an examination of the value of music education and the value of music performance. Its significance in the Irish education system is gauged by a …

Lowell E. Long’s interview focuses on the region of Appalachia: its location, environments, people, and identity. Mr. Long was born in April 1941 in War, McDowell County, WV. His family moved to East Liverpool, OH, after World War II, and relocated to Huntington, WV, in January 1945. In the audio clip provided, Mr. Long discusses what it means to be Appalachian and focuses on family bonds and sense of belonging in the region. During his interview, he describes his family’s use of folk medicine. Mr. Long provides descriptions of the segregated neighborhoods and schools of Huntington, WV, during his childhood. …
