The study employed a three-pronged quantitative research approach to understand the enrollment departure phenomenon better. The study was guided by the Student/Institution Engagement Model to elucidate the impacts of precollege, institutional, and environmental factors on student persistence. Two binary logistic regressions and chi-square tests for independence were conducted on archival college data.
Key findings show that FGCS experienced a 12% overall higher departure rate than non-FGCS and …

Shattered Campuses: School Shootings And Identity Formation, Daniel Alarcon
Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations
School shootings have become a pervasive issue in the U.S., impacting both students and educators. Since the Columbine tragedy, an estimated 187,000 students have experienced campus shootings, reflecting the tragic and often overwhelming nature of this phenomenon (Cox & Rich, 2018). Educators are tasked with devising structured responses to these incidents, facing the challenge of balancing safety with educational goals. While quantitative research on school safety is abundant, limited qualitative insight exists into how school leaders interpret data to design effective safety protocols tailored to their unique environments. This study aims to explore how individual schools perceive their vulnerability, prepare …

Relationship Between Local Fiscal Effort And High School Graduation Rate, Zachary Michael Haney
Educational Leadership & Workforce Development Theses & Dissertations
Education is an investment in human capital, but the cost to provide this public service is significant. Understanding the return on this investment is essential for informed and effective financial decision-making. While previous school finance studies have examined the relationship between funding and various indicators of student achievement and student attainment, most have focused on spending practices rather than the level of investment itself. Although the literature affirms the need for educational resources, further research is required to determine which types of investment most positively affect student outcomes. Therefore, funding must be analyzed prior to budgetary allocation to evaluate its …
