This research investigates learner engagement and reuse intention in immersive learning environments through the development and evaluation of a Desktop Augmented Reality (Desktop AR) application designed for primary school students in Thailand. Grounded in the 5E instructional model and the immersive engagement framework, the study identifies four key experiential factors—presence, embodiment, enjoyment, and novelty—that influence engagement and reuse intention in immersive learning. Quality of Service (QoS) is a key factor for users when choosing cloud services. However, QoS values are often unavailable due to insufficient user evaluations or provider data. To address this, we propose a new QoS prediction method, Multi-source Feature Two-phase Learning (MFTL). MFTL incorporates multiple sources of features influencing QoS and uses a two-phase learning framework to make effective use of these features. Pre-trained self-supervised speech models can extract general acoustic features, providing feature inputs for various speech downstream tasks. Spoofing speech detection, which is a pressing issue in the age of generative AI, requires both global information and local features of speech. The multi-layer transformer structure in pre-trained speech models can effectively capture temporal information and global context in speech, but there is still room for improvement in handling local features. Consider a Markovian tandem line with finite intermediate buffers and an equal number of stations and servers. Servers are flexible but noncollaborative, so that a job can be processed by at most one server at any time. When a job is being processed, it can be damaged and wasted depending on the proficiency of the server. We identify the dynamic server assignment policy that maximizes the long-run average throughput of the system with two stations and two servers. Generative AI, which ushers a new age of AI, comes with huge economic potential. To capitalize the AI boom, investors are interested in trading AI stocks. AI chatbots, which can identify and classify the sentiment from financial news, can be leveraged for investment. So, this paper proposes a GPT-based sentiment analysis approach for trading AI stocks. Also, natural experiments are conducted to evaluate its effectiveness. Initial results show that the approach achieves a good rate of return.

During a disaster, many people seek information from virtual communities. However, information overload, falsehoods and unrelated topics hinder information flow in virtual communities, putting disaster victims at risk. Given many disasters are generally of a short duration, we explore how virtual communities can quickly reconfigure themselves to respond effectively to a disaster. Drawing on risk society theory, our findings suggest reconfiguration is done via a series of cycles initially involving community members and subsequently featuring both community members and moderators working together to mitigate risks. Polyelectrolyte brushes consist of a set of charged linear macromolecules, each tethered at one end to a surface. An example is the glycocalyx which refers to hair-like negatively charged sugar molecules that coat the outside membrane of all cells. We consider the transport and equilibrium distribution of ions and the resulting electrical potential when such a brush is immersed in a salt buffer containing monovalent cations (sodium and/or potassium). The Gouy-Chapman model for ion screening at a charged surface captures the effects of the Coulombic force that drives ion electrophoresis and diffusion but neglects non-Coulombic forces and ion pairing. People visit virtual communities to find trusted information (i.e. verifiable, accurate and reliable information) during disasters. Virtual communities are open spaces where people interact and share information. However, virtual communities often suffer from information pollution (including too much information and false or contradictory information) which decreases peoples' ability to find trusted information. This study examines how family owner-manager successors' ownership influences R&D investment in family businesses. Drawing on the socioemotional wealth (SEW) perspective, we theorize that successors with higher family ownership prioritize extended SEW, leading to stronger R&D investment, while those with lower family ownership prioritize restricted SEW, resulting in weaker R&D investment. Additionally, we explore how family dynamics—specifically, the number of family directors and asymmetric salary favoring family members—moderate this relationship. Our findings enhance the understanding of successor heterogeneity and its impact on innovation, offering insights for succession planning that support the long-term sustainability of family businesses.

A predetermined amount of micro-nano powder particles contributes to the treatment during a patient’s inhalation of the bolus of respiratory micro-nano pharmaceutical powders in an aerosolized state from commercially available inhalers. The most popular inhalers are the metered dose inhalers (MDIs) and dry powder inhalers (DPIs). The quality of input data is critical to the performance of time-series classification models, particularly in the domain for industrial sensor data where noise and anomalies are frequent. This study investigates how various filtering-based preprocessing techniques impact the accuracy and robustness of a Transformer model that predicts power efficiency states (Normal, Caution, Warning) from minute-level IIoT sensor data. Although recent studies report a positive relationship between board diversity and firms' invention output, less is known about the mechanisms by which they operate, given that boards are typically far removed from on-the-ground invention activities. Drawing from research on interfaces and social information processing, we propose a theory of diversity cascades across the organizational hierarchy. Specifically, we posit that board diversity has a positive––albeit indirect––influence on firms' invention output. A recent retail trend is the rise of “digital-first” firms, where their merchandise is sold primarily via online efforts. In this exploratory study we describe our investigation of the customer journey for a digital-first seller of cosmetics and personal care products. We collected qualitative and quantitative data from a customer survey and follow-up interviews. Results indicate that personal connections and actual product use are the two most important touchpoints customers consider in first discovering the seller and then building a relationship with the brand. We describe practical applications of the findings and suggest ideas for future research.
