Angular momentum, which is also called rotary momentum, is a mechanical factor in discus throwing that basically describes how fast the thrower+discus system is rotating. Changes in the angular momentum of the system can occur only when forces are exerted at a point off center of mass.

How and why a person chooses to support a specific sports team/club is more complex than one might imagine. Historically, this selection was primarily established based on a number of socially constructed identities associated with geographic location and the ideas of place and space. This formed a dynamic relationship between the team and the supporter that was relentlessly renegotiated. In today's globalized world, these multifaceted decisions take on additional intricacies as place and space become amplified by growing global cultural exchanges. The primary purpose of this project was to approach the complexity of coaching by embracing the tensions inherently found in the coaching process. In doing so, the goal was to develop a grounded theory that describes the process interscholastic team coaches' use in doing their job from a paradoxical perspective. While working to achieve that goal, the coaching process was described using language that is meaningful for practicing coaches. In addition, the nature a coaching philosophy plays in the decision-making process for coaches was also probed. On March 4, 2011, Jacob Tucker, a senior at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, uploaded a two-minute and fourteen-second video of him dunking on youtube in the hopes that he would be considered to receive an invitation to the annual NCAA dunk contest. Within a few days, the video was posted on facebook, linked on Twitter, and talked about on “Rome is Burning,” Jim Rome’s ESPN show. By March 9, the video had over one million views and earned Tucker the chance to be voted into the dunk contest. Soon afterward, the NCAA announced that it would have a competition …

The marathon race has been subject to a history spanning over two thousand years. From the first alleged run of the marathon, performed during the Battle of Marathon in 490 BCE, marathons have fascinated thousands; however, despite strong interest in the topic today, during the Middle Ages there was a time when the marathon was barely discussed. Since 1998 the State of Minnesota has funded the building of the Xcel Energy Center, Target Field, and TCF Bank Stadium. The focus of this research is to locate voting trends within the Minnesota House of Representatives towards these venues. I recorded the votes of each member on the legislation approving these venues from the Minnesota Journal of the House and then constructed data sets for all three buildings. From this data, trends emerge potentially linking the voting tendencies of members based on party, gender, and geographical location of their district.
