Twelve Angry Men: A Twenty-First Century Reflection of Race, Art and Incarceration is a Comparative and Digital Humanities Honors Thesis concentrating on Africana Studies, theatre, sociology and legal studies to demonstrate the importance of investing in incarcerated communities through theatre and education.

In Chapter I, I critique the loss of identity attached to incarceration, and introduce the foundation for Black bodies individuals being discriminated against in the prosecution system. I analyze the “Punishment vs Progress” mentality, and introduce current educational programs in place in prisons. I elaborate on the details of our production, as well as the makeup of actors. …

นับตั้งแต่อินเทอร์เน็ตถูกคิดค้นขึ้นได้ส่งผลกระทบต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วจากความก้าวหน้าของเทคโนโลยีในโลกไซเบอร์ ปัญหาสำคัญที่สังคมกำลังเผชิญอยู่ในขณะนี้คือการเพิ่มขึ้นของการโจมตีทางไซเบอร์ซึ่งสามารถเชื่อมโยงกับการก่อการร้ายทางไซเบอร์ แต่ละประเทศในโลกกำลังเริ่มที่จะจัดการกับข้อกังวลของการก่อการร้ายทางอินเทอร์เน็ตซึ่งเป็นวิธีการใหม่ในการบรรลุเป้าหมายทางการเมือง ประเทศไทยเป็นหนึ่งที่กำลังตื่นตระหนกและให้ความสนใจในประเด็นนี้ แต่เนื่องด้วยข้อจำกัดหลาย ๆ ประการจึงทำให้ความก้าวหน้าในการจัดการกับประเด็นนี้มีไม่มากนักเมื่อเทียบกับประเทศอื่น ๆ เพื่อตอบสนองต่อสถานการณ์การก่อการร้ายทางไซเบอร์ในประเทศไทยและสถานการณ์ที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นในประเทศไทยในอนาคต วิจัยนี้จะทบทวนคำจำกัดความของคำว่าการก่อการร้ายทางไซเบอร์เพื่อกำหนดทิศทางการทำนโยบาย และแผนการเตรียมการของหน่วยงานของรัฐต่าง ๆ ที่มีความเสี่ยงของการก่อการร้ายทางไซเบอร์ไปในทางที่ถูกต้อง โดยการใช้เครื่องมือวิจัยในการศึกษาเอกสารและสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกับเจ้าหน้าที่ที่ทำงานด้ายไซเบอร์ของแต่ละองค์กร เพื่ออธิบายสถานการณ์การก่อการร้ายทางไซเบอร์และวิธีจัดการกับมันในอนาคต ผลการศึกษาพบว่าสถานการณ์การก่อการร้ายไซเบอร์ในประเทศไทยนั้นเป็นเพียงแค่ภัยคุกคามทางไซเบอร์เท่านั้น แต่ถึงอย่างไรก็ตามหน่วยงานภาครัฐของไทยก็มีศักยภาพในเรื่องของการออกกฎหมาย การใช้งบประมาณ และการเข้าถึงทางเทคโนโลยีอย่างปลอดภัยสำหรับประชาชน หากพิจารณาไปยังจุดอ่อนพบว่าประเทศไทยยังต้องมีการปรับปรุงในเรื่องของการบังคับใช้กฎหมาย ข้อบกพร่องทางเทคโนโลยี และจำนวนบุคลากรที่มีความรู้ความสามารถ เพื่อลดจุดอ่อนที่กล่าวมา รัฐบาลจำเป็นต้องสร้างสภาพแวดล้อมที่ไม่เอื้ออำนวยต่อการกระทำความผิดทางไซเบอร์ สร้างช่องทางทางอินเทอร์เน็ตใหม่ โดยที่รัฐสามารถควบคุมช่องทางทางไซเบอร์ได้ เพิ่มหลักสูตรความมั่นคงไซเบอร์ในโรงเรียนและมหาวิทยาลัย สร้างเครือข่ายสำรองกับประเทศอื่น ๆ หรือกับภาคเอกชนอื่น ๆ เพื่อรองรับการโจมตี

Ability status in U.S. society is a critical social and cultural identity. “Disability” is often viewed through the lens of pathology as an illness. This kind of view affects not only the personal identity of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities, but also their treatment by others in the community, employers, caregivers, and others in their system of interaction. Even individuals who are strong self-advocates can be silenced by this kind of lens. This study investigated the knowledge and perception of the ideology of baby-mama concept among the youths. Particularly, this paper assessed the knowledge of the concept of baby mama among youths and also their opinion on the acceptability of this style of family structure. The study employed a qualitative approach through an in-depth interview research method. Forty respondents between the ages of 16 and 40 years were selected across three educational institutions in Oyo state, south-west Nigeria. In this chapter, we introduce the notion of research collaboratories where critical inquiry-based collaboration – not experimentation – flourishes; where critical participatory action research (CPAR) projects are conceived and implemented across universities and communities/movements to build theory, transform policy, support social change and forge new solidarities. Music therapists are expected to understand the influence of gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation on the therapeutic process, yet may not be receiving education that adequately prepares them to support LGBTQ clients. The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate the impact of a one-hour educational training for music therapy students on considerations for working with LGBTQ clients. The presentation included information about terminology, discrimination, healthcare discrimination, music therapy research, musical considerations, and additional resources provided as a handout. Modern-day political discord has led to a recent spate of athletes using their platform to make statements about America. One under-researched aspect to modern sport activism is the study of the symbols themselves, such as the controversial kneeling during the national anthem by National Football League players, statement-making pregame apparel worn by National Basketball Association stars, and other political statements. This study expands the COVID-19 and Latino Immigrants in Rural California (CLIMA) Study at UC Merced by exploring how the mental health of young adult Latinos in rural CA has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and comparing the experiences of US-born Latinos to those of Latino immigrants to investigate an Immigrant Health Paradox. A convergent mixed methods design was first employed whereby qualitative and quantitative data was collected concurrently, and then merged. Opioid Use Disorder is patterns of opioid use leading to withdrawal, giving up important life events in order to use opioids, and excessive time spent using opioids, to name a few diagnostic criteria. The clinical progression of the disorder involves periods of acute exacerbation and remission that are cyclic in nature. Treatment is most effective when it includes both pharmacological and psychosocial modalities, referred to as medication assisted therapy (MAT). Three drugs used commonly in MAT-based treatment for OUD from oldest to newest include Methadone, Buprenorphine-naloxone, and Naltrexone. Due to an over-reliance on law enforcement, police officers have become frontline responders to individuals suffering with mental illness, despite not being properly trained to handle such situations. Many studies have addressed officers’ feelings of incompetence and lack of preparedness when faced with an individual in distress. Without proper training, police tend to resort to force against individuals in mental distress, which can escalate the situation even further. Alarmingly, the female murder rate in South Africa is five times the global average (BBC News 2019). According to data from 2017 and 2018, a woman is murdered every four hours in South Africa (Wilkinson 2019). More than 30 women were killed by their spouses in August 2019, and at least 137 sexual offenses are committed per day in South Africa (Francke 2019).

Such development projects prioritize wealth wrought from material extraction over the total health of ecological systems. The case of the Site C dam in British Columbia is another settler-colonial development project which is set to destroy a valley in the name of energy production. Major areas of focus are on the orgasm gap and clitoral stimulation, sexual satisfaction in heterosexual relationships, and aggressive and violent behaviors depicted in pornography and sexual interactions. Over 2.5 million youth remain disconnected from education or the workforce well into their adult lives. Nearly one-third of youth who remain disconnected are Black, Indigenous Persons of Color (BIPOC) from low-income communities. The purpose of this research study was to gain an understanding of what systems and processes support re-engagement for formerly disconnected, and subsequently re-engaged, BIPOC students from alternative high school programs in the State of California. The recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County is a landmark piece of case law that offers fundamental rights to LGBT persons. This essay reflects on how this case arrived at the Supreme Court and its implications for theory and praxis. The overall conclusion is that cautious optimism is warranted.
