The present study was conducted to evaluate the in vivo efficacy of pumpkin seeds as an alternative natural anthelmintic for chickens. Ninety Philippine Jolo native chickens of mixed sexes, aged 4?5 months and weighing 1?2 kg, were randomly distributed into three treatment groups with 30 chickens per group. Control group A was fed basic mash feed, group B received feed mixed with ground pumpkin seeds (2 g/bird per day), and group C received mebendazole-medicated feed (30 mg/kg body weight). Proliferation Effects Of Phenylboronic Acid And Boric Acid On Canine Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells, Uçkun Sai̇t Uçan, Zafer Sayin

The effects of phenylboronic acid (PBA) and boric acid (BA) on the proliferation of canine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were investigated. Treatment of PBMCs from mixed breed dogs with PBA or BA (0.05 µg/mL) alone elicited blastogenic responses of 0.478 ± 0.438 and 0.499 ± 0.366, respectively. We observed an additive effect on proliferation when purebred Kangal PBMCs were cultured in a combination of BA (0.001 µg/mL) and the mitogenic lectin concanavalin A (1 µg/mL). In this study, the effects of feeding with the diets containing hazelnut meal (HM) at different levels (0%, 15%, 30%, and 45%) on the growth performance and body composition of Siberian sturgeon were investigated. The study was carried out for 90 days with 3 replicates (n = 15; 283.1 ± 6.52 g fish weight). The objective of this study was to investigate whether there is an association between ovarian stimulation and interrupted gamete interaction in the rat fallopian tube in vivo. We evaluated the protein expression of interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) via immunohistochemistry and assessed the key histological features of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uteri of the rats following treatment with mild (15 IU) and high (30 IU) doses of gonadotropins compared to an unstimulated control group. This study was designed to evaluate serum and electrocardiographic (ECG) changes in cattle with foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). Thirty-two cows with clinical signs of FMD and 13 healthy cows were randomly enrolled. After blood sampling, ECG was performed on 23 of the 32 ill cows. Serum circulatory troponin I (cTnI), CPK, LDH, and CK-MB activities were determined in the patient and control groups. Arrhythmias including ventricular tachycardia (VT), sinus tachycardia (ST), atrial fibrillation (AF), and premature ventricular complex (PVC) were seen in 4, 4, 2, and 1 of the patients, respectively. The correlations between selected egg, embryo development, and chick traits were analyzed in three lines of Japanese quail subjected to intrafamily selection for 28th day body weight (group S) and in three lines of random control birds (group K). The significant correlation coefficients between egg weight and most of the traits observed after the first two days of incubation as well as chick weight and shank length were estimated. The aim of this study was to evaluate milk glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels in Damascus goats with subclinical mastitis. According to the somatic cell counts (SCCs), 193 Damascus goats included in the study were divided into healthy (n = 75; SCC 0.05). In summary, a significant increase in GPx and decrease in SOD levels, respectively, were determined in goat milk samples with subclinical mastitis, and these changing trends were correlated with milk SCCs. However, age, parity, and number of offspring were not associated with these changing patterns.

The aim of this study was to produce biosurfactants from whey waste using Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus as well as to determine oil spreading, emulsification index, surface tension, and antiadhesive properties in these biosurfactants. The purpose of this study was to examine resistance against cadmium (Cd$^{+2}$), copper (Cu$^{+2}$), lead (Pb$^{+2}$), mercury (Hg$^{+2}$), and manganese (Mn$^{+2}$) in Escherichia coli isolates recovered from cattle stool using phenotypic (agar dilution) and genotypic [polymerase chain reaction (PCR)] methods. In addition, the isolates were genotyped via enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus polymerase chain reaction (ERIC-PCR). Modified killed vaccines against bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) are used worldwide. In the present study, the cross-neutralization antibody responses against field strains from seven subgenotypes of BVDV-1 and one subgenotype of BVDV-2 were evaluated using sera obtained by three inactivated commercial vaccines. One vaccine contained both BVDV-1 and BVDV-2 strains, while the others contained only BVDV-1a. Three vaccine groups, each containing five calves, were vaccinated two times with 30-day intervals. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of SV technology on conception rates in repeat breeder multiparous dairy cows. Seventy-nine multiparous Holstein cows from a private dairy farm were used in the study. The present study was planned to isolate Escherichia coli from pneumonic and septicemic sheep and goats and to determine antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns of the isolates and evaluate them for the presence of extended-spectrum ß-lactamase (ESBL) using the phenotypic and molecular methods. The exercise-induced variations of some biochemical parameters including calcium (Ca), phosphorous (P), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), selenium (Se), zinc (Zn), sodium (Na), potassium (K), chlorine (Cl), glucose, urea, creatinine, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and creatine kinase (CK) were assessed in the serum of 25 Arabian horses. Blood samples were taken from the jugular vein 3 different times: before exercise, 5 h after exercise, and 18 h after exercise. Statistical analysis was performed using SAS (version 9.2; SAS Institute, Cary, NC, USA). Ca, Cl, glucose, and urea showed significant (P < 0.05) changes due to exercise. There was significant increase from before exercise to 5 h after exercise in urea concentrations while Ca and Cl concentrations significantly decreased. A significant ascending trend for Ca between 5 h and 18 h after exercise was also seen, while glucose and urea had a significantly descending trend. No significant time-based variations were observed for other variables. The results of the present study indicated that exercise could affect the value of some biochemical parameters, which could be used in future studies evaluating the health status of Arabian horses.

The effects of nano-ZnO on in vitro ruminal fermentation, methane release, total antioxidant capacity (TAC), and microbial biomass production (MBP) were assessed using an in vitro gas production technique. Treatments included a control diet and diets containing 20, 40, or 60 mg of supplemental Zn per kg dry matter (DM) as ZnO or nano-ZnO. As a result of this study, supplementation of 20 mg of Zn as nano-ZnO, similar to ZnO, decreased methane production and protozoa enumeration but improved (P < 0.05) TAC, MBP, digestibility and truly degraded substrate (TDS). As compared with the control treatment, adding the supplementary Zn had no effect on partitioning factor, MBP efficiency, pH, and ammonia-N (P > 0.05). Abdominal ultrasound is frequently performed as part of initial staging of canine mammary tumors. The aims of this study were to describe abdominal ultrasonographic findings present at diagnosis of mammary tumors in dogs and to assess their value for associations with histopathological results and treatment outcome. The medical records of 201 female dogs diagnosed with mammary tumors that had abdominal ultrasonography performed as part of their initial clinical evaluation were reviewed. Experiments were carried out to determine the effect of 2-phenoxyethanol to reduce stress response during the transportation of Russian and Siberian sturgeons. In transportation experiment 1 (TE$_{1}$), Siberian sturgeons (687.2 ± 17.41 g) were stocked in tanks and transported for 90 min (stocking density = 65 ± 0.71 kg/$m^{3}$).
