This study aimed to demonstrate the expression profiles of lincRNAs and mRNAs affecting milk yield and composition traits in the milk-derived exosomes of Holstein and Doğu Anadolu Kırmızısı (DAK) cows. For this purpose, the locations of these specific lincRNAs and mRNAs were confirmed in quantitative trait loci. Then RT-PCR analysis was performed to identify the expression profiles of the lincRNAs and mRNAs. Lastly, correlation analysis was carried out between milk yield data from Holstein and DAK cows and expression levels of the lincRNAs and mRNAs. Effects Of Boron Compounds And Ozonated Olive Oil On Experimental Microsporum Canis Infection In Rats, Ayhan Hi̇lal Gezer, Abuzer Acar

This study aimed to investigate the treatment outcomes of topical application of boric acid, boron-doped gel, and ozonated olive oil in cases of Microsporum canis -induced dermatophytosis. Furthermore, the outcomes were compared to those of terbinafine administration. We included 39 female Wistar albino rats weighing 200-250 g and created an M. canis-infected area on the skin of their backs. The rats were clinically scored on days 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28 and underwent histopathological evaluation. All the treated groups demonstrated significantly lower clinical scores than the control group (P < 0.05). Fewer inflammation cells were observed in the samples of groups treated with 3% boric acid and sodium pentaborate pentahydrate gel than in those of the control group. According to the histopathological evaluation, the groups treated with 3% boric acid and sodium pentaborate pentahydrate gel were statistically different from the control and other treatment groups (P < 0.05). Our results indicated that treatment with 3% boric acid and sodium pentaborate gel was adequate in resolving M. canis -induced infection in rats. Therefore, gels containing 3% boric acid and sodium pentaborate pentahydrate may be alternatives to antifungal agents such as terbinafine by ensuring easy, reliable, inexpensive, and effective treatment modalities.

Estimation Of Genetic Parameters For Weaning Weight Of Awassi Lambs By Using Classical And Bayesian Methods, Adi̇le Tatliyer, Si̇nan Baş

The aim of this study was to estimate variance components and genetic parameters with six different animal models and two approaches (Bayesian and classical) on weaning weight (WW) of Awassi lambs. For this purpose, the data were obtained from Sheep and Goat Breeders' Associations of Osmaniye in Turkey. The data of 4971 progenies (from 80 rams and 1917 ewes) born between 2012 and 2016 raised under traditional conditions were evaluated. Year/season, sex, birth type, dam age, and flock size were fixed effects. All these effects except birth type were found statistically significant (P < 0.01). The overall least squares mean of weaning weight (WW) was obtained as 17.93 ± 0.05 kg. Variance components and genetic parameters were estimated by MCMC algorithms with R (for Bayesian approach) and by REML procedure with MTDFREML (for classical approach) programs. The Akaike information criterion (AIC), the log likelihood function (-2logL), and deviance information criterion (DIC) values were taken as criteria to choose the best model. Direct heritabilities of WW ranged from 0.20 to 0.35 across the models. The genetic correlation between additive genetic effect and maternal effect ranged from 0.00 to 1.00. The results were found similar across methodologies and maternal additive genetic variance resulted in lower than direct additive genetic variance. According to this study, both approaches are suitable for estimation of genetic parameters in the case of low sample size. However, the Bayesian approach, becoming increasingly popular, may be feasible to estimate variancecovariance components and genetic parameters.

This study was conducted to investigate the maternal genetic diversity using the mtDNA D - loop region 842 base pair (bp) polymorphism in Şavak Akkaraman sheep raised in the province of Erzincan. According to the results, in the mtDNA D - loop of the Şavak Akkaraman breed, 27 polymorphic sites and 20 haplotypes were identified and then, 11 of the 20 haplotypes identified in Şavak sheep were in haplogroup B (55%), 6 in haplogroup A (30%), and 3 in haplogroup C (15%). The aim of this study was to determine the genetic variation of MYF-5 and STAT5A genes in Anatolian water buffalo which was the only buffalo breed reared in Turkey by using the PCR-RFLP method. The effects of dietary supplementation with live yeast culture (LY) on the milk performance and rumen fermentation parameters of Simmental cows in the middle of lactation were examined under hot season conditions in 2019. Trypanosoma evansi is a blood parasite protozoan that causes trypanosomiasis or surra in a variety of economically valued animals such as cattle and camels. This infection causes abortion in camels. The present study was conducted to evaluate the presence of Trypanosoma evansi in aborted fetuses of Iranian camels (Camelus dromedarius) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. The present study aimed to establish a TaqMan probe real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) for detecting Bovine parvovirus (BPV), and to develop a novel diagnostic method of BPV. TaqMan probe and primers were designed and synthesized from the sequences of conserved 5?-untranslated regions (5'-UTR) of strain Haden of BPV. Optimum reaction conditions were comparatively selected. The sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility of TaqMan probe qRT-PCR were measured respectively. This study has so far been the first attempt to characterize and quantify skull sexual variation in Kangal dog, by means of geometric morphometric techniques. A sample of 16 adult Kangal crania has been analyzed with this purpose. To obtain a full image of morphological pattern, digital pictures were taken from the ventral, left lateral, and dorsal sides of each skull, and a total of 16, 15, and 16 landmarks respectively were obtained on each image. This study investigated the effects of stocking density (SD) and ascorbic acid (AA) supplementation on nutrient digestibility and laying performance of quails in a tropical environment. Four hundred and eight Japanese quails were designated in a 3 × 2 factorial arrangement with four replicates. The birds were distributed to three SDs, namely 40 (SD-1), 45 (SD-2), and 50 birds per m2 (SD-3) by allotting 15, 17, and 19 birds per cage, respectively (cage size: 3750 cm2). Each SD was supplemented with AA (0 and 250 mg/kg). Interaction was identified between SD and AA on egg production (P < 0.01), while the highest value was yielded in SD-2 supplemented with AA (83.6%). SD-3 achieved lower ether extract (EE) and crude fiber (CF) digestibility (P < 0.05) and eggshell thickness (P = 0.01) than SD-1 or SD-2. AA supplementation enhanced dry matter (DM), EE, CF, crude ash (CA), and calcium (Ca) digestibility (P < 0.05). AA improved egg weight, feed conversion, and protein and energy efficiency ratios as well as eggshell weight and thickness (P < 0.05). The SD of 45 birds per m2, combined with AA supplementation at 250 mg/kg, can be recommended for quails housed in hightemperature environments.

Haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS) is one of the economically most important bacterial diseases of large ruminants. In the present investigation, a total of 156 buffaloes (Murrah, Jafarabadi, and Bhadawari breeds) at a semiorganized farm after administration of HS alum precipitated killed vaccine were screened serologically for the presence of anti-HS antibodies by single dilution indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (iELISA). Out of 156 buffaloes tested for presence of anti-HS antibodies, a greater proportion of buffalo (67.94%) had protective level of anti-HS antibodies even after 90th day post vaccination.

This study assessed the in vitro molluscicidal activity of Artemisia dubia (wormwood) leaf ethanolic extract against adult and juvenile Oncomelania hupensis quadrasi and profiled its qualitative phytochemical content. The objective of this study was to assess the changes in serum glucose, beta-hydroxybutyric acid (ß-HBA), and nonesterified fatty acid (NEFA) levels in Damascus dairy goats fed niacin (Nia) and methionine (Met) during late gestation and early postpartum period. A total of 75 dairy goats at 105th day of gestation were divided into 3 groups as control (no supplementation), Nia (20 g/kg Nia), and Met (2.5 g/kg Met) groups. The dietary treatments continued until parturition. Dairy goats fed dietary Nia had greater serum glucose levels on day 125 of gestation compared to the other dietary treatments (P < 0.05). On day 135 of pregnancy, serum glucose levels were higher in Met group than control group (P < 0.05). Serum ß-HBA levels decreased on days 135 and 145 in dairy goats fed Nia than those in control group. Dietary Nia and Met lowered serum ß-HBA levels on day 10 postpartum compared to control group (P < 0.05). Serum NEFA levels decreased (P < 0.05) on days 135 and 145 in dairy goats fed Nia supplemented ration than those in control group. Serum NEFA levels d 10 postpartum were different among the groups (P < 0.05). In conclusion, dietary Nia and Met supplementation improved serum glucose levels on day 125 of gestation while decreasing ß-HBA and NEFA levels during late gestation and early postpartum period in Damascus dairy goats under the conditions of present study.
