Mastitis is an inflammation of the mammary gland whose diagnosis is based on clinical criteria and the determination of inflammatory markers. The disease is mainly caused by bacteria causing intra-mammary infections. The etiological agent/s are detected by milk culture or by molecular biology approaches. However, these methodologies are unpractical for on-farm diagnosis, where rapid decisions must be made when infected animals are detected. For this reason, the levels of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in milk were evaluated as a tool for the diagnosis of mastitis. In this study, Akkaraman sheep and Hair goats raised extensively on the same farm were scored with the FAMACHA card. Score 1 was not present in both sheep and goats, whereas scores 5 and 2 were not detected in sheep and goats, respectively. While the number of animals with scores of 2, 3, and 4 was 9, 46, and 55 in sheep, the number of animals with 3, 4, and 5 scores in goats was 6, 55, and 41, respectively. In this study, it was aimed to identify the predominant coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) species in subclinical, clinical, and persistent infections in Konya province, to determine various virulence and resistance mechanisms of CNS species within the agelactation level. The research has been carried out in a dairy herd that is free from brucellosis and tuberculosis and uses an automated herd management system. The present study evaluated the effect of selection for higher body weight (weight based selection = WBS) and egg numbers (egg based selection = EBS) on productivity, egg quality, and hatching traits of Japanese quail for three generations. From a base population of 1125 day-old chicks of Japanese quail, best performing families were allowed to propagate for getting next generation. WBS in G3 presented higher values of feed intake, egg weight, hatching weight. However, egg production and feed conversion ratio were better in EBS during G3. The current study was conducted to determine the morphological, morphometric, and histological characteristics of bulbus oculi and lacrimal gland in sheep. Ticks are well known as hematophagous ectoparasites, which cause different diseases in humans and animals. This investigation was designed in central Iran to assess the prevalence, intensity, and abundance of tick infestation in stray dogs and detection of Ehrlichia canis. Overall, 962 ticks were collected from 260 stray dogs between April and August 2018. DNA samples with the goal of amplification of pathogen were screened by real-time PCR assay. The prevalence of tick infestation on stray dogs was 60.3%. Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato (s.l.) was only species found in stray dogs. Out of 42 tick pools, 4 (9.5%) were positive …

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact on macro and micro parameters of dairy cattle when cows consumed total mixed ration (TMR) contaminated with (zearalenone) ZEA and deoxynivalenol (DON) for 60 days. Two fat sources, soybean oil (SO) and refined poultry oil (RPO), and 4 emulsifiers (control, lysolecithin, lysophospholipid, and bile acids) were used in this experiment. Thirteen hundred and sixty (1360) birds (ROSS - 308) were divided into 8 groups having 5 replicates, 34 birds in each. Energy efficiency, feed conversion (FCR), and protein efficiency ratios were improved in birds receiving SO than RPO diets. Weight gain, FCR, feed intake, and dressing percentage were increased in broiler birds receiving bile acid than those given lyso-phospholipid and lysolecithin (p < 0.05). Cooking loss was greater (p < 0.05) in broiler birds given RPO than those fed SO. Birds receiving bile acid had greater (p < 0.05) water holding capacity of chest meat than other fat emulsifiers. Bile acids in broiler diet presented higher (p < 0.05) digestibility of crude protein and ether extract as compared to other treatments. Bile acid supplemented diets had a minimum (p < 0.05) cost of production per kg live weight than other fat emulsifiers. Therefore, the use of bile acids with RPO diets can increase nutrient digestibility, growth performance, meat quality, and economic efficiency in broiler production systems.

This study aimed to estimate the genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationships of Indonesian native and local cattle breeds using 16S rRNA mitochondrial DNA. The study analyzed 93 DNA samples from six cattle breeds. The polymerase chain reaction was conducted using two primer pairs to sequence the complete 16S rRNA gene. The number of the polymorphic site (S), pairwise nucleotide differences (K), haplotype diversity (Hd), and nucleotide diversity (?) were estimated using DnaSP 6 software. Studies involving molecular genetic characterization of silkworms are quite limited. Therefore, with this study, pure and hybrid silkworm lines raised in Turkey was characterized for the first time by microsatellite DNA markers. Samples were collected from 7 different silkworm lines, of which the pure lines were obtained from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in Bursa and the hybrid ones from Silkworm Cocoon Association of Turkey (Kozabirlik). This research aims to determine the morphometric characteristics of the donkey (Equus asinus) populations reared in Turkey. For this purpose, live weights and body measurements were collected from 500 donkeys. This study was conducted to determine the silage quality, in vitro digestibility and energy content of forage turnip (Brassica rapa) ensiled with molasses or ground barley. Forage turnip was harvested at three different stages: the beginning, middle and end of the flowering period, and it was ensiled with no additive (control), 5% molasses or 4% ground barley. This study was carried out to investigate the species identification and enumeration of some pathogenic microorganisms before and after feeding the full ration contaminated by predatory starling bird herds on 5 different days in the dairy cattle farm in Aksaray. The study aimed to update the molecular prevalence of some tick-borne pathogens (Borrelia burgdorferi, Babesia spp., and Anaplasma spp.) in the shelter dogs of the Thrace Region, Turkey. The study was carried out on 450 dogs from 7 pet shelters. The individual data of the dogs were recorded, and blood samples were collected in tubes with anticoagulants (EDTA). The aim of this study was to investigate the distribution and density of IgG, vimentin, and CD45 in mouse placenta on the fourth, tenth, and seventeenth days of pregnancy. Strept avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex (streptABC) staining method was used. On the fourth day of pregnancy, the expression of IgG, vimentin, and CD45 was more intense around the uterine glands. On the tenth day, IgG, vimentin and CD45 positive cells were demonstrated in decidua basalis and mesometrial parietal trophoblast giant cells (P-TGCs) and mesometrial lymphocyte groups (MLAp) portions. The effects of mill moth (Ephestia kuehniella) egg meal (IEM) upon growth performance and fatty acid profile of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) (1.12 ± 0.01 g) were evaluated in triplicate groups for 12 weeks. Three isonitrogenous (35% CP) and isocaloric (17 MJ kg?1) diets were formulated replacing fishmeal with 0% (G-0), 50% (G-50), and 100% (G-100) IEM. The results of the trial indicated that G-50 had the highest growth performance values and a more efficient FCR (1.79). Replacement levels of IEM did not have any significant effect on survival. In this study, monensin (MON) was investigated for its apoptotic and genotoxic effects on chick liver tissue and cytotoxic and apoptotic effects on chick primary hepatocytes isolated from perfused liver tissue. Western blotting and real-time PCR (qPCR) were used to determine the apoptotic effect on primary hepatocytes and liver tissue, and the comet assay was used to determine the genotoxic effect on liver tissue. MON decreased cell viability in primary hepatocytes with increasing concentrations. The aim of the study was to assess the ability of horses to learn how to open feeder boxes in a direction associated with the time of day. The study involved 10 horses. Hypochlorous acid (HClO) is an excellent surface disinfectant and classified as nonhazardous but maintaining a steady HClO solution is extremely difficult. This study aimed to mix HClO with various metal nanoparticles (NPs) to improve stability.
