The purpose of this paper is to describe the transient behavior of a simple constant-K distributed amplifier stage. The derivation of the transfer function is carried out using the Laplace Transform for the case where losses in the lines are considered to be zero. The various characteristics of the amplifier response to a unit step function are discussed and the effects of losses and other modifying factors upon the idealized response are evaluated. Finally design procedures are derived which allow the circuit designer to determine the circuit parameters necessary for good transient responses. These procedures are applied to the design …

The foregoing comments pointed out the facts that: 1) little has been done to show the similarity between the multivibrator and the RC amplifier with degenerative feedback; 2) the existing treatment of the conditions under which a linear relationship between pulse duration and applied grid voltage will exist does not give results which are in very good agreement with the values used in a practical circuit.

The first few links of a new 330 KV transmission system are now under construction in this country. Sweden is already operating a 380 KV line. "The methods of obtaining voltage regulation for a d-c generator are many, and they vary in complexity according to the requirements of the loads being supplied.

A need for zero voltage regulation is not uncommon in power supplies that are used in laboratory work. It is frequently not enough, however, to have a supply whose steady state regulation is zero; the need may also exist for fast transient response to changes in load.

In general, then, the criteria for excellent voltage-versus-load characteristics of a d-c power supply might be stated as follows:
