The City of Milwaukee, for a good many years has been confronted with the big problem of sewage disposal, in asmuch as the sewage up to the present time has been allowed to flow into its rivers which in turn emptied into Lake Michigan from which the City obtained its water supply, and consequently contaminated its surrounding waters to such an extent that the City's public health was very much at stake.

In submitting this design I do so with the one point in view, namely, to endeavor to determine when reinforced concrete becomes impractical for design purposes.

To produce a maximum condition of loading on the lower floors I have taken up the design of a warehouse which is to carry a live and impact load of 400# per sq. ft., plus the dead load on each of the twelve floors.
