What is more, as far as the author knows, soil-cement has not found any application in farm house construction in Turkey as yet. Favorable experience with dense-graded bases containing calcium chloride created interest in similar mixtures containing only water as a bonding agent. As a result of this interest, a project for base and surface construction was set up on the Phil-Pine Grove Road in Casey County to permit study of this method of base construction. The work was carried out during the period of August to October, 1953.

The pavement, which is 11.62 mi. long, was constructed by contract. It had 2 in. of traffic-bound base (creek gravel) and appeared to be in rather uniform condition with few obviously weak areas. Courses …

In the northern part of Cache Valley, Utah, accelerated erosion in recent decades has cut deep gullies of impressive size into the flat, irrigated bench land along the Bear River. Millions of tons of fine sediment have been washed into the river and great amounts have been deposited in the river bed. The resulting flooding and high water-table have caused much damage to the land near the river.

It was the purpose of this study to construct a universal mount, to construct a protective lead shield, to operate the instrument, and to provide a pole figure using the transmission method of Schulz and Decker. There are at present several lengthy x-ray methods of determining the grain orientation of metals. These methods are mainly photographic. In order to provide a rapid means of obtaining the necessary information concerning the grain orientation of a metal, a universal mount was constructed.

Many mines in the Cardwell Mining District have been more or less steady producers of gold, silver, lead and zinc since 18SO. The area first came into prominence with the discovery of gold at the Mayflower Mine in 1896. Soon after the Mayflower discovery, many claims were located in the nearby Saint Paul Gulch area, northeast of Whitehall. The Lucky Hit Mine is located in Saint Paul Gulch area of the Cardwell Mining District.

The first purpose of this thesis is to frame an enabling act that could be submitted to legislature for adoption. Such an act would authorize the use of plane coordinate system, but not make it mandatory. Twenty-four states have passed laws establishing state coordinate systems.

Whenever metals differ greatly in electropositivity, intermetallic compounds are likely to form in preference to solid solutions. 21ercury and indium show a considerable difference in electropositivity. This would indicate that intermetallic compounds may play an important role in the con­stitutional diagram for the mercury-indium system.
