Investigating How Tacit Knowledge Management Inclination And Explicit Marketing Agendas Impact Business Success., Christine Aliyu Makama, Douglas Johansen Dr

Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2023

This study empirically tests the relationship between tacit knowledge management inclination, internal explicit marketing agendas and external explicit marketing agendas and how they act together to enhance business outcomes. This was done to fill in the gap in the body of knowledge on the dearth of empirical research on tacit knowledge management inclination and marketing orientation. Using the quantitative research method and purposive sampling technique, data were collected from 89 respondents with significant business and marketing experience through a well-structured questionnaire with closed-ended questions. Employing regression analysis, the hypotheses were tested, and the finding highlighted that tacit knowledge management inclination …

The Pathway To The Natural Gas Industry: Financial Development, Coal Consumption, And Carbon Dioxide Emissions In P.R. China, Teng Tong, Jaime Ortiz, Haibo Wang

International Business and Entrepreneurship Faculty Publications and Presentations

This paper revisits the causal links between financial development, coal consumption, and CO2 emissions in P.R. China over the 1977–2017 period to validate the development of its natural gas industry. It uses a Bootstrap ARDL bound test with structural breaks to establish stationarity, short- and long-run dynamics, and causality of the series. The results show there are no long-run relationships among these three variables, but a Granger causality test does indicate the presence of both a two-way Granger causality between coal consumption and CO2 emissions, and a one-way Granger causality running from financial development to both coal consumption and CO2 …

Report Of The Independent Review Of Freedom Of Speech In Australian Higher Education Providers, Tony Shannon

International Journal for Business Education

This summary does not claim to be preferred in any way to a reading of the complete report with its succinct and simple recommendations, including “A Model Code for the Protection of Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom in Australian Higher Education Providers”. The review is an important document for all institutions dedicated to teaching, particularly at the tertiary level, in having a shared understanding of freedom of speech within an institution.

The Review involved a two-stage consultation process with universities and other stakeholders between November 2018 and March 2019, and it also considered recent pertinent debates in Canada, New …

Boyer Model Of Scholarship In Practice, Tony Shannon

International Journal for Business Education

The four types of scholarship in the Boyer framework are relevant to teaching or training at any level of post-secondary education, both directly in terms of knowledge and indirectly through the impact of enthusiasm [2,9]. This outline is a simplified introduction to the salient features of the system, with some general examples of what each type could mean in practice. The boundaries of the types are fluid and can overlap in theory and in practice [4,6].

Summary Of And Comments On Strengthening Skills: Expert Review Of Australia's Vocational Education And Training System, Steven Joyce

International Journal for Business Education

The following extracts have been compiled in this order to give a feeling for the total report (168 pages). The order of what follows is quite different from Joyce. It has been summarised this way for the benefit of readers who are not involved in the VET sector on a day-to-day basis. Most of the data are from 2017-2018. The summary is by Tony Shannon; it has no official status. To give perspective to this important report, the summary and comments are in three parts, namely,

Lumina Review Of Learning Frameworks: Tools For Building A Better Educational Experience, Tony Shannon 2023 Illinois State University

Lumina Review Of Learning Frameworks: Tools For Building A Better Educational Experience, Tony Shannon

International Journal for Business Education

A reason for summarising this document (Travers et al, 2019) is that the Lumina Foundation in the USA is one of the few educational think-tanks which seems to be aware of the effects on the workplace from the exponentially accelerating growth in soft-computing, especially artificial intelligence, which will be seen in the next fifteen years (cf. Jankowski and Marshall. 2017).

Boots On The Ground: Foreign Direct Investment By Born Digital Firms, Maximilian Stalkkamp, Liang Chen, Sali Li

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

Research Summary: Recent global strategy research on born digital firms (i.e., firms with digital products distributed through digital channels) has paid only limited attention to the role of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the internationalization of such firms. We argue that exploiting digital technologies requires a range of complementary, non-digital resources. Born digitals typically deploy FDI when large cultural and geographic distances limit the fungibility and scalability of such complementary resources, leading to a positive relationship between distance (cultural and geographic) and FDI. The positive distance effect is moderated by business model type. Using a sample of US-based born digital …

Uk Universities Face Their Toughest Test, Andrew Jack

International Journal for Business Education

The School of Oriental and African Studies seemed a symbol of stability when it celebrated its centenary in 2016 by taking over and renovating the University of London’s imposing Senate House building in central London. It was a bold move to lure the best students. But just three years later its future has become much shakier, with its undergraduate intake down 40 percent and a £7m operating deficit. “The competition is brutal,” says Professor Stephen Hopgood, Soas’s international pro-director. “We are small and specialist, and if undergraduate fees are cut, it’s going to be very hard for an institution of …

Ecosystem Social Responsibility In International Digital Commerce, Jingtao YI, Jiatao LI, Liang CHEN 2023 Singapore Management University

Ecosystem Social Responsibility In International Digital Commerce, Jingtao Yi, Jiatao Li, Liang Chen

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

Despite the surge of interest in digital globalization, its social dimensions have received far less attention than deserved. The lack of conversation between the two prominent areas of IB research, digitalization, and corporate social responsibility, presents a valuable opportunity for extending the agenda Ioannou and Serafeim (J Int Bus Stud 43(9):834-864, 2012) pioneered a decade earlier. We briefly depict the organizational differences between multinational enterprises (MNEs) and multinational platforms (MNPs), followed by a closer look at how social responsibility of digital platforms might depart from our conventional understanding derived from MNEs. We then propose the notion of ecosystem social responsibility …

Following Their Predecessors' Journey? A Review Of Emne Studies And Avenues For Interdisciplinary Inquiry, Peter J. Buckley, Lin Cui, Liang Chen, Yi Li, Yoona Choi

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

In this review article we take stock of international business (IB) research on emerging economy multinational enterprises (EMNEs) over the past three decades. Our review covers 690 articles published in 64 high-impact peer-reviewed journals between 1990 and 2021 (inclusive). We first present bibliometric findings on some key patterns of this vast body of scholarly work. We then conduct content analysis to critically assess this literature and provide a multilevel synthesis of the existing knowledge base. To do so we propose a theoretical framework that highlights three dimensions - micro-foundations, organizational characteristics, and institutional environment - by which the distinction between …

The Environmental Contingencies, Capital Structure And Firm Performance Of Listed Firms, Sunday Amos Adeusi Dr, Oluwabunmi Akindele Olawaye

International Review of Business and Economics

Going concerns of business empires is predicated on the externality effect of environmental contingencies that influence the decisions of capital users. Hence, the study aims of dissecting effect of macro and micro environmental contingences on the capital structure and firm performance. Generalized Method Moment (GMM) statistical tool is used to dissect perceived association amidst endogenous and exogenous variables. The results show that micro contingences such debt to equity, debt to assets and short-term liability have negative and statistically …

United States Of America As The Global Steward, Grant Fuller 2023 Liberty University

United States Of America As The Global Steward, Grant Fuller

Liberty University Journal of Statesmanship & Public Policy

The principle of subsidiarity states that local communities are best equipped to govern most of their affairs. In an increasingly connected world, this idea gets contested frequently. Since World War II, the world has experienced relative peace due to U.S. precedence. Today, we see U.S. leadership challenged by global players like China, which is doing so in a manner that prioritizes their people and goals. In order to maintain relevance, the United States must revisit trade policy, monetary policy, fiscal policy, and national security policy.

A Sustainable Digital Ecosystem: Digital Servitization Transformation And Digital Infrastructure Support, Yan Chen, Zijin Wang, Jaime Ortiz

International Business and Entrepreneurship Faculty Publications and Presentations

While the notion of digitalization and sustainability has become prominent in current research, more can be done to bridge these two concepts and explain the interaction between them. Plenty of literature has focused on the impact of digital technology applications and business model innovations on environmental performance but has not considered the counterforce of environmental performance on digitalization. We investigated this question from the perspective of digital ecosystem architects to explore more organic relationships. By analyzing data from 1083 listed firms from 2014 to 2019, we found various effective paths for architects to participate in the digital ecosystem and determined …

Markets, Businesses, And Consumption In Refugees Settlements: A Review And Future Research Trajectory, Stefanie Beninger

Markets, Globalization & Development Review

The global refugee crisis is increasing, and many refugees will end up living in refugee settlements, also known as refugee camps. These settlements have dynamic economic activities, and such activities deserve attention. This paper draws upon academic and practitioner work to describe pertinent aspects of consumption, businesses, and markets in these settlements, including in relation to multiple stakeholders. These stakeholders can include, for example, governments, aid agencies, private sector, and local community groups. Based on these insights, the paper identifies key theoretical areas in need of attention related to these economic activities in refugee settlements, including market change, resilience, and …
