Business analytics is a rapidly expanding field that offers countless job opportunities for students entering the workforce to take advantage of. However, analytic and data visualization skills are two things that are often overlooked by universities, especially if a student it not enrolled in a program that falls under the Information Systems umbrella. This thesis highlights the growth of jobs in analytics/big data and provides students with two projects that will allow them to gain valuable skills in Tableau and Power BI, giving them a needed edge in various job interviews.

The purpose of this research was to evaluate the university’s communication efforts during this crisis in order to determine the effectiveness of the University of Mississippi’s initial COVID-19 crisis communications. First, the researcher analyzed historical case studies on three notable crisis communications (the Johnson & Johnson Tylenol Crisis of 1982, the United Airlines Crisis of 2017, and the Crock-Pot Crisis of 2018). Brands, advertising agencies and other partners collaborate through curated phases to create marketing and advertisements, but within this process, how does the creative brief shape disability inclusion or exclusion? By moving the conversation from interpreting disability representation in an advertisement or finished marketing piece, to analyzing disability at the onset of the creative process, these insights present a critical contribution to scholarship on disability, marketing and consumer culture.
