This paper deals with the problem of estimating the finite population mean when some information on auxiliary attribute is available. It is shown that the proposed estimator is more efficient than the usual mean estimator and other existing estimators. The results have been illustrated numerically by taking empirical population considered in the literature.

R., Measurements of the Effects of Abstinence from Tobacco: A Qualitative Review, 2007). Although impatience is not a synonym of impulsivity, both share the synonym "impetuous". Therefore, impatience can be considered a measure of impulsivity. Although some reviews of the effect of smoking cessation on impatience have occurred, we know of no quantitative review of prospective studies of whether smoking cessation increases impatience.

We give a brief introduction to cluster analysis and then propose and discuss a few methods for clustering mixed data. In particular, a model-based clustering method for mixed data based on Everitt's (1988) work is described, and we use a simulated annealing method to estimate the parameters for Everitt's model. A penalized log likelihood with the simulated annealing method is proposed as a remedy for the parameter estimates being drawn to extremes. Everitt's approach and the proposed method are compared based on their performance in clustering simulated data. We then use the penalized log likelihood method on a heart disease …

In the following report, an evaluation of the industry flaw is presented, an econometric approach is described in full, and a solution is proposed using insight gained from a regression analysis. This report uses an econometric approach to determine the impact of hunter jumper horse qualities on internet sale prices. Mixture modeling has numerous applications. One particular interest is microarray data analysis. My dissertation research is focused on the Contaminated Chi-Square (CCS) Modeling and its application in microarray. A moment-based method and two likelihood-based methods including Modified Likelihood Ratio Test (MLRT) and Expectation-Maximization (EM) Test are developed for testing the omnibus null hypothesis of no contamination of a central chi-square distribution by a non-central Chi-Square distribution. Economic growth and appliance saturation are increasing electricity consumption in Mexico. Annual frequency data from 1990 to 2012 are utilized to develop an error correction framework that sheds light on short- and long-run electricity consumption behavior in Ciudad Juarez, a large Mexican metropolitan economy at the border with the United States. The results for this study reveal that electricity is an inelastic normal good in this market. Moreover, natural gas is found to be a weak complement to electricity. In the analysis of most statistically designed experiments, it is common to assume equal variances along with the assumptions that the sample measurements are independent and normally distributed. Under these three assumptions, a likelihood ratio test is used to test for the difference in population means. Typically, the assumption of independence can be justified based on the sampling method used by the researcher. The likelihood ratio test is robust to the assumption of normality. The exponentially weighted moving average chart based on the sample generalized variance is studied under the independent multivariate normal model for the vector of quality measurements. The performance of the chart is based on an analysis of the chart's initial and steady-state run length distributions. Change point is a statistic phenomenon, which has many direct applications in climatology, bioinformatics, finance, oceanography and medical imaging. In this thesis, we investigate the sensitivity of the F-test for detecting change points in linear regression, using a two-phase linear regression model. it offers an effective method to detect "undocumented" change points using a form of an F-test.
