Organizational Characteristics, Knowledge Management Strategy, Enablers And Process Capability: Knowledge Management Performance In U.S. Software Companies, Hsin-Jung Hsieh

Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios

Currently, the effect of knowledge management has not been clearly defined or understood and a proper framework for assessing the status of knowledge management is lacking. Most studies examined the relationships among critical factors of knowledge management separately and the empirical research is based on only a few cases or small samples where generalizing the results is significantly reduced. The development of a universal model is necessary as a means to measure relevant constructs.

This correlational (explanatory) online survey research is the first to explore the relationships among organizational characteristics, knowledge management strategy, knowledge management enablers, knowledge management process capabilities, …

Sex-Role Orientation, Women As Managers And Transformational Leadership Among Female Law Firm Partners And Subordinates, Nathalie Lynch-Walsh Oct 2006

Sex-Role Orientation, Women As Managers And Transformational Leadership Among Female Law Firm Partners And Subordinates, Nathalie Lynch-Walsh

Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios

Nearly 30% of all attorneys in the U.S. are women, but only 17% of all partners in major U.S. law firms are women. The disparity in the number of women at the top of the legal profession echoes the shortage of women at the helm of major U.S. corporations. Traditional sex-role stereotypes represent one type of "glass ceiling" barrier and stem from the different behavioral norms assigned to men (agentic) and women (communal) based on relative social status. Women exhibiting nonconforming behavior are less liked than conforming women. Conversely, women exhibiting agentic behaviors such as selfconfidence and assertiveness are seen …

Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios

Corporate governance is not a new issue in today's world. Nevertheless, addressing the impact of financial information transparency on investor behavior in the stock market should be explored. With the large number of incidents of accounting fraud and misstatements revealed in the past five to six years, the integrity of business financial information becomes an increasingly important issue for investors and the general public. To provide greater definition of the roles and responsibilities of publicly-owned company executives and members of their boards of directors, U.S. President George W. Bush signed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) into law on July 30, 2002. …

Literature in the area recognizes that one of the best ways to reach training effectiveness is by increasing the rate of training transfer. However, people often are not able to successfully apply what they learn in training back to their work. This study proposes that to achieve a positive training transfer rate it is necessary to develop and implement a formal evaluation training system, which is able to track all factors individual and organizational- affecting transfer effectiveness before and after training occurs. In order to empirically demonstrate the influence of the pre and post- training evaluations on the transfer rate, …

Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios

Nepotism is a dirty little word: Related individuals work together in entertainment, medicine, education and yes, even sports administration. This study proposes to identify the acceptance of relatives, by blood or by marriage, working together in NCAA Division II colleges in the southeastern United States. "Nepotism" is an arguably accurate descriptor of arrangements of relatives working together. However, the potential for real as well as asserted preferential treatment is shown to exist. Further, as the trend of couples working in the same discipline grows, whether or not a candidate accepts a position may be determined by the potential manager's acceptance …
