Analysis Of Traffic Performance And Passenger Car Equivalent Value In Tangerang – Merak Toll Road Section, Jonathan Sidabutar, Sutanto Soehodho, Nahry Nahry 2024 Universitas Indonesia

Analysis Of Traffic Performance And Passenger Car Equivalent Value In Tangerang – Merak Toll Road Section, Jonathan Sidabutar, Sutanto Soehodho, Nahry Nahry

Smart City

Economic growth involves massive movement of logistics, where goods transported by land become the main choice by supplier. One of them being the main access for connecting Java and Sumatera is the Tangerang – Merak toll road. An increase in traffic volume occurs every year, followed by additional problems such as congestion which obviously affects traffic performance. Given this reason, it is necessary to evaluate traffic performance through parameter assessments, which are the degree of saturation and travel speed.

This research was carried out on the Tangerang - Merak toll road section KM 32,300 to KM 35,500 towards Jakarta for …

Evaluation Of Coal Transport Route In Jambi City (Talang Duku Port-East Ring Road Ii), Dwi Angella, Sutanto Soehodho, Nahry Nahry

Smart City

In its implementation, the role of coal transportation infrastructure is important in supporting the mining industry in Jambi City. However, it also causes various complex problems; one of them is traffic congestion on arterial roads in Jambi City. In May 2023, the Jambi Regional Police of the Republic of Indonesia issued a notification letter to stop the mobilization of coal transportation in Jambi Province. The policy caused several coal companies to switch their transportation method to shipping in order to continue operating, while several other companies stopped operating until an indeterminate time. Therefore, this study aims to compare traffic performance …

Impact Of Auxiliary Markings On Intersection Safety, Mhd Tommy Franata, Martha Leni Siregar, Andyka Kusuma

Smart City

The rapid growth of motorcycle vehicles coupled with inadequate traffic discipline contributes to an escalating rate of traffic accidents and casualties. This study investigates the efficacy of auxiliary road markings in enhancing traffic safety and intersection performance along Lieutenant Sutopo Street, Promoter Street, and Boulevard BSD East in South Tangerang, Indonesia. Employing the Traffic Conflict Technique (TCT), the research evaluates safety enhancements and service level alterations subsequent to the installation of road markings. Preliminary observations highlight significant safety concerns and traffic conflicts at the intersection. Consequently, auxiliary road markings are strategically installed to regulate driver behavior, enhance lane discipline, and …

Investigation Of The Use Of Recycled Concrete Aggregates In Porous Asphalt Mixture, Asad Elmagarhe 2024 University of South Florida

Investigation Of The Use Of Recycled Concrete Aggregates In Porous Asphalt Mixture, Asad Elmagarhe

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

This study aims to address the national need for using recycled concrete in road pavements. This is especially important in the governmental and corporate sectors, where reducing the cost and carbon footprint of construction projects is a priority. The long-term goal is to meet the public demand for environmentally friendly infrastructure and minimize the harmful effects of waste disposal on humans and the environment.

The project focuses on using recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) in porous asphalt pavement to reduce stormwater runoff, a popular environmentally friendly road design. However, compared to regular dense asphalt mixtures, porous asphalt mixtures (PAM) are more …

Comprehensive Planning In Small Communities, Peter B. Lamont Jr. 2024 City of Canton, Texas

Comprehensive Planning In Small Communities, Peter B. Lamont Jr.

Certified Public Manager® Applied Research

The comprehensive plan is a vital tool in any city’s toolbox. It serves first and foremost as the general guide for a city’s development. Consisting of multiple parts, history, demographics, land use planning, transportation planning, and goals and objectives, it is the plan that all other plans should relate back to. Any growth and development decisions should be reviewed through the lens of the comprehensive plan. Proper planning has many benefits, especially in small, developing communities. These benefits include promoting sustainability, fostering a sense of community, enhancing quality of life, promoting economic development and managing new growth and infill. However, …

Understanding The Nuances Of Transit Accessibility: Temporal And Spatial Resolution, And Neoliberalism, Joe Chestnut

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This dissertation explores accessibility via public transit through several lenses. In doing so, some of the lesser known nuances of accessibility are better understood. These nuances are explored in several ways. First, various demographic variables and their relationship to accessibility to jobs via public transit are modeled at a fine spatial resolution in an exploratory analysis across several cities in the United States. Next, temporal and spatial resolution and their impacts on accessibility to jobs via public transit are analyzed and quantified in several cities across the United States. Finally, the relationship between neoliberalism and public transit accessibility is explored …

Webinar: Building Capacity In Gateway Communities Through The Gnar Academy, Jordan Katcher, Elizabeth Sodja

TREC Webinar Series

Small towns and cities near national parks, public lands, and other natural amenities across the West are experiencing rapid growth and increased tourism. As we have documented via our prior NITC-funded research, this has created a range of big city challenges for these “gateway communities,” particularly in the form of interconnected transportation, land use, and housing issues. Seeking to help gateway communities better prepare for and respond to their transportation and planning challenges, the Gateway and Natural Amenity Region (GNAR) Initiative team translated the findings from our research on planning and development challenges in gateway communities into an online learning …

Wasted Space: Using Parking Lots & Vacant Land To Improve Neighborhood Completeness, Ryan Martyn

Hatfield Graduate Journal of Public Affairs

This study conducts a spatial analysis of Portland, Oregon, focusing on leveraging underutilized areas like parking lots and vacant land—termed "wasted space"—to improve the city's completeness. Central to this investigation is the concept of a "complete neighborhood," characterized by access to daily necessities within convenient active transportation trip. This comprehensive idea encompasses walkability, equitable access to services, and sustainability.

This paper aims to redefine the concept of a complete neighborhood with precision and delve into its implications. The research looks at five regional, town, and neighborhood centers as defined by the city of Portland. These centers act as pivotal hubs …

Navigating Shrinking Cities: Towards Coordinated Urban Development From The Perspective Of Flow And Network, Yuzhou Chen 2024 University of South Florida

Navigating Shrinking Cities: Towards Coordinated Urban Development From The Perspective Of Flow And Network, Yuzhou Chen

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

As cities worldwide undergo rapid but uneven changes, proposing smart and sustainable urban development strategies has been a popular interdisciplinary research in the 21st century. In particular, the phenomenon of shrinking cities characterized by economic recession and population decline is becoming increasingly severe in developed countries and even developing countries. In the real world, research focusing on individual shrinking cities often neglects the interconnectedness between cities within the network formed by flows. Therefore, coordinating the development strategies for multiple closely connected cities, especially for shrinking cities, is a step up from focusing on individual cities.

This dissertation aims to propose …

Commercial Property Vacancies In American Cities, Emily Dinh 2024 Portland State University

Commercial Property Vacancies In American Cities, Emily Dinh

University Honors Theses

This paper examines the alarming impacts of the vacancy phenomenon on commercial properties across American during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The increase in remote work encourages people to work from home more frequently. This does not only lessen employees' foot traffic to offices, but also disconnects the engagement of consumers and visitors to public areas, such as malls, stores, and other amenities. Many commercial properties have closed, shrunk their operating spaces, or reallocated for safety and security reasons. Reduction in occupancy rate among mentioned properties influences negatively on business owners, their associated partners, residents of the impacted areas, and …
