Research On Wavelength Routing Algorithm Based On Multi-Service In Satellite Optical Networks, Qingli Liu, Junfei Yao, Zhiguo Liu
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: An optical wavelength routing algorithm for satellite networks based on multi-service was proposed, in order to solve the problem of low utilization rate of wavelengths, slow convergence and low efficiency of satellite optical networks. In this algorithm, it divided the area of the satellite network and updated the link in the area to improve the convergence speed of algorithm. Different services were assigned different wavelength sets to satisfy requirement of different service. According to the initial link weight, which included wavelength remain number and transmission delay, it changed link weight dynamically to achieve network load balancing and rational use …

Performance Analysis On Multiuser Untrusted Amplify-And-Forward Relay Networks, Deng Dan, Zhou Wen
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The effect of the untrusted relaying node was investigated on the secrecy outage probability (SOP) of amplify-and-forward (AF) relay networks in the presence of direct links and multiple users. In the considered system, the best user was selected according a certain criterion. It transmitted signals to the destination node with the aid of the untrusted relaying node. To reduce the useful information leakage, three selection criteria were proposed based on the channel state information of the direct and/or relaying link. The closed-form analytical SOP and the corresponding asymptotic expressions were derived. Computer simulation was conducted to validate the theoretical …

Forecasting Of Short-Term Power Load Of Secrpso-Svm Based On Data-Driven, Hairong Sun, Bixia Xie, Tian Yao, Zhuoqun Li
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: For the parameter selection of support vector machine in modeling, a particle swarm optimization algorithm based on second-order oscillation and repulsion factor was proposed to optimize the parameter of SVM. The algorithm employed the nonlinear decreasing weight to balance the global and local search ability. Second-order oscillation factor could maintain the population diversity. The repulsion factor was introduced to make the swarm even distribution in search space, which could avoid local optimum. For the complex characteristics of nonlinearity, time-varying and multifactorial of electric power load, a support vector machine forecasting model based on data was proposed, and the influence …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Due to the complexity of the chemical process, the data are often characterized by dynamics and correlation between sequences. Traditional support vector data description (SVDD) methods are difficult to guarantee real-time monitoring online. A Weighted-Dynamic-SVDD (WDSVDD) method was proposed to monitor fault in real time online. The dynamic method was introduced, and the correlation between the data was considered. The weighted information was used to highlight the useful information. The model was established by using SVDD method, and the online real-time fault monitoring was realized. The method not only overcomes the adverse effect of non-Gaussian and nonlinearity, but …

Computer Engineering
This project is a debugger and programmer for the OTTER CPU, the implementation of the RISC-V ISA used by Cal Poly to teach computer architecture and assembly language in CPE 233/333 and usually implemented on the Basys3 FPGA development board. With this tool, students can quickly program their OTTER with a new/revised RISC-V program binary without resynthesizing the entire FPGA design. They can then use the debugger from a PC to pause/continue/single-step execution and set breakpoints, while inspecting and modifying register and memory contents. This enables real-time debugging of OTTER projects involving custom hardware such as a keyboard and VGA …

Electrical Engineering
Grass lawns are a common hallmark of the American home. In 2019, a survey from the National Association of Landscape Professionals found that 81% of all Americans owned a lawn [1]. Mowing is a time consuming and costly chore that is part of maintaining a grass lawn. The manual labor in mowing a lawn can exceed 40 hours per year [2]. People commonly incur weekly costs on mowing services to save time. Traditional gas powered mowers are physically demanding and use engines that need routine maintenance. They operate loudly enough that users should be wearing hearing protection and the noise …

The Characterization Of Effective Electromagnetic Fields On The Safety And Quality Of Low-Moisture Foods (Effs) - Prototype Device Development, Joe G. Sandoval
Electrical Engineering
Contamination of low-moisture foods including flour, wheat grain, baby formula, and more, have increasingly become a concern due to sanitizing challenges. While industrial food processors have long used RF heating to sanitize mass quantities, an equivalent consumer device is absent from the market today. The Characterization of Effective Electromagnetic Fields on the Safety and Quality of Low-Moisture Foods (EEFS) project is an interdisciplinary effort to develop an RF heating consumer device to sanitize low-moisture foods.
A prototype device was designed to sanitize low-moisture food items using RF heating acceptable for commercial or consumer applications.

Artificial Neural Network To Detect Alzheimer's In Mri Scans, James Alden Poirier, Michael Gary Tuttle
Electrical Engineering
Alzheimer’s Disease ranks (AD) as one of the most common diseases in America. Currently, detecting Alzheimer’s Disease relies upon reported symptoms, however changes in the brain can manifest years or decades before symptoms appear. In recent years, researchers have successfully utilized Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for a variety of image classification tasks. Here, we train an ANN to detect Alzheimer’s Disease using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scans. Giving an MRI to both a neural network and a doctor will allow the doctor to be more confident in their answer, as well as double-check their answer with an objective report …

Presently, there is an insufficient availability of human experts to assist students in reading competency and comprehension. Our team’s goal was to create an improved socially assistive robot for use by therapists, teachers, and parents to help children and adults develop reading skills while they do not have access to specialists. HAPI is a socially assistive robot that we created with the goal of helping students practice their reading comprehension skills. HAPI enables a student to improve their reading skills without an educator present, while enabling educators to review the student's performance remotely. Design constraints included: physical size, weight, duration …

This research paper presents preliminary results of an NSF-supported interdisciplinary collaboration between undergraduate engineering students and preservice teachers. The fields of engineering and elementary education share similar challenges when it comes to preparing undergraduate students for the new demands they will encounter in their profession. Engineering students need interprofessional skills that will help them value and negotiate the contributions of various disciplines while working on problems that require a multidisciplinary approach. Increasingly, the solutions to today's complex problems must integrate knowledge and practices from multiple disciplines and engineers must be able to recognize when expertise from outside their field can …

Transferring And Regularizing Prediction For Semantic Segmentation, Yiheng Zhang, Zhaofan Qiu, Ting Yao, Chong-Wah Ngo, Dong Liu, Tao Mei
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Semantic segmentation often requires a large set of images with pixel-level annotations. In the view of extremely expensive expert labeling, recent research has shown that the models trained on photo-realistic synthetic data (e.g., computer games) with computer-generated annotations can be adapted to real images. Despite this progress, without constraining the prediction on real images, the models will easily overfit on synthetic data due to severe domain mismatch. In this paper, we novelly exploit the intrinsic properties of semantic segmentation to alleviate such problem for model transfer. Specifically, we present a Regularizer of Prediction Transfer (RPT) that imposes the intrinsic properties …
