We want to raise the bar in high school robotics. In Texas, and likely in many other states as well, high school robotics has reached a roadblock when it comes to autonomous navigation. In many competitions, the autonomous portion sees few, teams successfully completing tasks that require positioning and guidance. In modern robotics, it is no longer sufficient for a robot merely be “remote controlled.” They need to be able to navigate independently and adapt to the environment around them. To achieve this goal a positioning system is needed to develop the foundational algorithms for autonomous controls. However, these systems …

• Computer vision has evolved from simple image classification and object detection to analyzing human motion and biomechanics (1). • CNN’s are usually focused on image classification, but, in this case, we are not asking the model if a person is walking. • Many real-world problems require regression: Predicting a continuous number like energy expenditure of walking is a complex task. • It is essential for Prosthetists to understand energy expenditure of their prosthetic patients (2). • An amputee may use 20-30% more energy to walk. • In this project, we developed an AI model to analyze human motion and …

Ai-Scm Cmm: A Capability Maturity Model For Artificial Intelligence Integration In Supply Chain Management, Lordt Becklines, Omar F. El-Gayar, Patti Brooks, Insu Park
Annual Research Symposium
Artificial intelligence is increasingly deployed in supply chain management, yet many organizations struggle to align adoption efforts with process readiness, data quality, governance, and workforce capabilities, and they still lack validated supply chain specific roadmap for assessing readiness, sequencing investments, and reducing implementation risk. This study develops and evaluates a Capability Maturity Model for Artificial Intelligence Integration in Supply Chain Management to address that gap. Using a design science research approach, the study synthesizes prior literature and practitioner knowledge to define maturity dimensions, capability indicators, and staged progression levels for AI integration in supply chain contexts. The artifact and assessment …

Mapping Leo Satellite Internet Performance Using Mobile Starlink Deployment, Annika Govil, Jacob Gray
Undergraduate Research Posters
High-speed, low-latency internet connectivity on the move is a critical challenge for applications in connected vehicles, disaster response, and remote education. While terrestrial networks such as 4G or 5G are widespread, they lack coverage in remote or rural geographic areas.
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations, such as SpaceX's Starlink, promise global high-bandwidth, low-latency internet. However, their performance is well-documented in stationary scenarios, while data for *mobile* applications is scarce. This project explores the feasibility and real-world performance of LEO satellite internet while in motion.
Current research documents the performance of LEO satellite constellations in stationary settings. However, data concerning …

Sensing The Pulse Of A Data Stream In Real Time, Vishnu S. Pendyala
Sensing The Pulse Of A Data Stream In Real Time, Vishnu S. Pendyala
Open Educational Resources
In an era where data never sleeps, streaming algorithms offer a powerful toolkit for extracting meaningful insights from high-velocity data flows. This talk explores some foundational techniques that enable efficient, real-time analytics with minimal memory requirements. The algorithms covered include a clever bit-based strategy for approximating the count of 1s in a sliding window, ideal for binary streams where space efficiency is paramount. Another algorithm helps estimate statistical moments (mean, variance, skewness) using compact sketches, enabling a deeper understanding of stream distributions without storing the entire dataset. One other algorithm identifies trending items with exponential decay, giving more weight to …

The Impact Of Tariffs On Auto Parts Trade With China, Canada And Mexico: Ai-Driven Strategies For Supply Chain Optimization, Katie Cerda, Layla Dickerson, Riley Gibson, Oluwabunmi Sanusi
Posters - 2025
U.S. tariffs (7.5-25%) on auto parts from China, Canada, and Mexico are severely disrupting the automotive industry, a key global economic driver. These tariffs dramatically increase production costs and vehicle prices, potentially by up to $12,200 per vehicle (CBS News, 2025; MarketWatch, 2025). These tariffs necessitate major supply chain adjustments, leading to inefficiencies (MIT Sloan, 2024). Supplier diversification, while intended to mitigate tariff impact, extends lead times and shrinks profit margins (XenonStack, 2025). The industry's complex supplier network is now highly vulnerable, compelling companies to seek more adaptable strategies. AI-driven technologies like predictive analytics and route optimization offer potential solutions …

Biomechanical analysis is a tool to evaluate prosthetic and orthotic patient's. These tools offer the clinician capability of understanding the mechanism of injury, gait deviation or prosthesis problem. Video based analysis require expensive hardware, software, and training which sometimes costs $40-100,000.
The recent advent of artificial intelligence (AI) has opened up the possibility of acquiring high speed human motion video analysis using low-cost hardware and open-source machine learning algorithms. Still, free assessments like the Sit2Stand test is a current clinical outcome measure which assesses ability of a patient to stand and sit as fast as possible 5x. The faster the …

• Student depression is a growing public health concern that adversely affects academic performance and general well-being.
• According to Ibrahim et al. (2013), the prevalence of depression among university students ranges from 10% to 85%, with an overall weighted mean of 30.6%.
• Factors such as financial challenges, academic stress, and social adjustments significantly contribute to higher depression rates among students compared to the general population.
• Studies have shown that female students are more prone to depression due to hormonal, psychological, and social factors (Altemus et al., 2014). Depression impacts academic performance, reducing cognitive function and increasing dropout …
