Performance Reliability And Safety Index For Region Vii Highways, Aemal J. Khattak, Mm Shakiul Haque, Li Zhao
Mid-America Transportation Center: Final Reports and Technical Briefs
Roadway performance measures are used for operating, planning, and design purposes to improve services for road users. Simple statistics of the performance metrics such as measures of central tendency (e.g., mean, median) are often used for making operational and planning decisions. Even though such statistics are useful, they are, more than often, not comprehensive enough for making insightful operational and planning decisions. Consequently, performance reliability measures, which attempt to capture the day-to-day variability in performance, have the potential to benefit the areas of operation, planning, and design. Traffic data from Intelligent Transportation System facilitates the measurement of the reliability of …

Fluorotelomer Carboxylic Acid Degradation: Implications For Septic Systems, Alexis Marie Eaton
Fluorotelomer Carboxylic Acid Degradation: Implications For Septic Systems, Alexis Marie Eaton
Honors Theses and Capstones
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, are a group of manmade organic chemicals that have been widely used since the 1940’s due to their resistance to heat, water, and oil. These compounds are associated with negative health outcomes including poor thyroid function, reproductive toxicity, and carcinogenicity. Because products with PFAS are widely used in residential settings, and because many PFAS do not completely degrade during wastewater treatment/handling, septic systems may be an important non-point source of PFAS to groundwater. Many homes that have septic systems, which discharge wastewater effluent to the subsurface, also use groundwater as a drinking water source; …

Investigation Of Wide Beam And Interfacial Shear Transfer In Reinforced Concrete Structures, Nikkolas Edgmond
Doctoral Dissertations
"The use of reinforced concrete (RC) allows for unique designs of structural elements and connections because of the ability to vary the geometry and reinforcement detailing with ease. However, this freedom in the design process can lead to specialized conditions that have not been extensively studied by means of experimental testing. This is especially true for components or regions of components that are subjected to high shear loads, which are susceptible to undesirable and brittle failures. While many studies have been conducted to investigate the shear behavior of RC structural members and components to determine the critical design parameters, these …

Modelling Of Competing Compensation And Excess Revenue Sharing In Project-Based Ppp Contracts: Machine Learning And Real Option Approaches, Lykeang Sorin
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Public Private Partnership (PPP) is now considered as a very common approach for the delivery of infrastructure projects, especially in developing countries in which fiscal budgets are limited. Most PPP projects are usually implemented as project-based, connecting existing infrastructure projects. However, transportation infrastructure projects as a whole work as a network of systems such as highway systems and mass rail transit (MRT) systems. Currently, the project-based approach to PPP implementation has created two unintended consequences: (1) fragmentation of the systems and (2) non-compete clause in PPP contracts preventing new development that may affect the future revenues of the concessionaire. The …
