Scrutinizing The Adoption Of Smart Contracts In The Mena Region’S Construction Industry, Ahmed Gouda Mohamed
Scrutinizing The Adoption Of Smart Contracts In The Mena Region’S Construction Industry, Ahmed Gouda Mohamed
Civil Engineering
The construction industry embodies a paramount role in the economic growth of various nations, including the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Despite its significance, the industry faces construction disputes and payment issues, inducing financial losses and project postponements. Consequently, the construction industry has mutated smart contracts to enhance operational efficiency, which automates contract management tasks and offers perks, including transparency and efficiency. However, the adoption of smart contracts in the MENA construction sector remains limited, and the region lacks thorough research on this topic. This study addresses this gap by examining the level of cognizance and apprehension of …
Parametric Analysis Of Co2 Hydrogenation Via Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis: A Review Based On Machine Learning For Quantitative Assessment, Jing Hu, Yixao Wang, Xiyue Zhang, Yunshan Wang, Gang Yang, Lufang Shi, Yong Sun
Parametric Analysis Of Co2 Hydrogenation Via Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis: A Review Based On Machine Learning For Quantitative Assessment, Jing Hu, Yixao Wang, Xiyue Zhang, Yunshan Wang, Gang Yang, Lufang Shi, Yong Sun
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
This review focuses on the parametric impacts upon conversion and selectivity during CO2 hydrogenation via Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis using iron-based catalyst to provide quantitative evaluation. Using all collected data from reported literatures as training dataset via artificial neural networks (ANNs) in TensorFlow, three categorized parameters (namely: operational, catalyst informatic and mass transfer) were deployed to assess their impacts upon conversions (CO2) and selectivity. The lump kinetic power expressions among literature reports were compared, and the best fit model is the one that was proposed by this work without arbitrarily assuming power values of individual partial pressure (CO and H2). Synergistic Preparation And Application In Pcu Of Α‑Calcium Sulfate Hemihydrate Whiskers From Phosphogypsum And Electrolytic Manganese Residue, Ting Wang, Xuan Ke, Jia Li, Ying Wang, Weiwei Guan, Xia Sha, Chenjing Yang, Tian Zhang
Synergistic Preparation And Application In Pcu Of Α‑Calcium Sulfate Hemihydrate Whiskers From Phosphogypsum And Electrolytic Manganese Residue, Ting Wang, Xuan Ke, Jia Li, Ying Wang, Weiwei Guan, Xia Sha, Chenjing Yang, Tian Zhang
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering: Faculty Publications
The α-calcium sulfate hemihydrate whiskers (α-CSHWs) were first prepared using phosphogypsum (PG) and electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) as raw materials for coating urea, demonstrating excellent controlled-release properties. The effects of different reaction conditions on α-CSHWs, achieved by optimizing the reaction time, the concentrations of NH4+, Mn2+, and other factors, were discussed. Results showed that when the EMR content was 25 wt%, the reaction temperature was 100 °C, and the reaction time was 3 h, α-CSHWs with a length-to-diameter ratio of 39 were obtained. Through experiments and density functional theory (DFT), the mechanism of α-CSHWs preparation …
Evaluation Of Infrared Thermography Dataset For Delamination Detection In Reinforced Concrete Bridge Decks, Eberechi Ichi, Sattar Dorafshan
Evaluation Of Infrared Thermography Dataset For Delamination Detection In Reinforced Concrete Bridge Decks, Eberechi Ichi, Sattar Dorafshan
Civil Engineering Faculty Publications
Structural health monitoring and condition assessment of existing bridge decks is a growing challenge. Conventional manned inspections are costly, labor-intensive, and often risky to execute. Sub-surface delamination, a leading cause of deck replacement, can be autonomously and objectively detected using infrared thermography (IRT) data with developed deep learning AI models to address some of the limitations associated with manned inspection. As one of the most promising classifiers, deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) have not been utilized to their fullest potential for delamination detection, arguably due to the scarcity of realistic ground truth datasets. In this study, a common encoder–decoder semantic …

Unmanned Aircraft Systems In Road Assessment: A Novel Approach To The Pavement Condition Index And Vizir Methodologies, Diana Marcela Ortega Rengifo, Jose Capa Salinas, Javier Alexander Perez Caicedo, Manuel Alejandro Rojas Manzano
Purdue University Libraries Open Access Publishing Fund
This paper presents an innovative approach to road assessment, focusing on enhancing the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and Visión Inspection de Zones et Itinéraires Á Risque (VIZIR) methodologies by integrating Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) technology. The research was conducted in an urban setting, utilizing a UAS to capture high-resolution imagery, which was subsequently processed to generate detailed orthomosaics of road surfaces. This study critically analyzed the discrepancies between traditional field measurements and UAS-derived data in pavement condition assessment. The study findings demonstrate that photogrammetry-derived data from UAS offer at least similar or, in some cases, improved information on the collection …
Nutrient Removal Of Biochar Amended Modified Bioretention Systems Treating Nursery Runoff, Nicholas Richardson
Nutrient Removal Of Biochar Amended Modified Bioretention Systems Treating Nursery Runoff, Nicholas Richardson
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Excess inputs of nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, to surface water bodies can lead to the presence of harmful algal blooms (HABs). HABs can damage their surrounding environments and the economies dependent on them. Nutrient pollution can be properly controlled and monitored at point-sources, such as wastewater treatment plants, but is more difficult to control for non-point sources, such as fertilizer runoff. One form of fertilizer runoff that remains overlooked is runoff from plant nurseries. Controlled release fertilizers (CRFs) embedded in plant containers at nurseries can leach excess nutrients into the runoff. For nurseries in Florida, best management practices …
Investigating Gulf Coast Aquifer System: Stratigraphy Reconstruction, Inverse Modeling, And Groundwater Stress Assessment, Shuo Yang
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
The Mississippi Embayment aquifer system (MEAS) and the Coastal Lowlands aquifer system (CLAS) provide substantial groundwater resources for human activities in the U.S. Gulf Coastal Plain. However, the overexploitation has led to groundwater depletion in the MEAS and the CLAS, threatening sustainable groundwater use. Such concern highlights the crucial need for an advanced understanding of stratigraphy and groundwater in these aquifer systems, which is essential for effective regional groundwater management. This dissertation presents a comprehensive investigation of MEAS and CLAS in the Louisiana and southwestern Mississippi region, encompassing three fundamental dimensions: stratigraphy reconstruction, groundwater modeling, and groundwater stress assessments. A …

Exit 10 Renovations, Will Deuter, Jim Earl
Purdue Road School
Built in 1956, the infrastructure at Exit 10 of the Indiana Toll Road (ITR) needed multiple repairs, including bridge rehabilitation, pavement restoration, and lighting improvements. ITRCC invested in cost-effective renovations on 12 bridges in the Exit 10 vicinity that that would reduce long-term maintenance. The project experienced challenges due to the complexity of construction and mainline work occurring simultaneously to accelerate construction. This presentation will focus on the design approach, contractor procurement, and construction of this investment.
