The primary purpose of this study was to determine whether the Activity Selection Questionnaire created for this study measured the activation, competitiveness, and sociability dispositions of individuals. The secondary purposes were (1) to determine whether there were any differences between subjects' scores made on the criteria measurements (Thayer Activation-Deactivation Adjective Check List, Gough and Heilbrun's Aggression and Affiliation scales from the Adjective Check List) and the high and low grouped scores of subjects on the measurements assumed to be comparable (activation, competitive, and sociability) of the Activity Selection Questionnaire; and (2) to determine whether those subjects …

The evaluation was based on the opinions and attitudes reflected by student teachers and cooperating teachers who participated in the program during a three semester duration, September 1967 through September 1968. Additional information was gathered from the College of Education, the Director of Secondary Student Teaching, and the Supervisor of Physical Education Student Teaching. The Problem. Identifying and imposing order upon the critical elements affecting vocational selection has long been a concern of psychologists in general and counsel­ing psychologists in particular. Recently, individuals within industry, education, and the professions are becoming increasingly interested in the phenomenon or career selection. Researchers investigating the area agree that an understanding of the relationship between childhood experiences and career selection is fundamental to the development of functional theories of vocational selection. This investigation was undertaken to gain information concerning this relationship.

The purposes of this dissertation were: (1) to investigate the relationship between attitude toward and performance in gymnastics of college women physical education majors, (2) to investigate whether differences exist in the relationship between attitude toward and performance in gymnastics within three groups of women physical education majors whose stated favorability toward gymnastics was low, middle, or high, and (3) to investigate whether differences existed between attitude toward and performance in gymnastics of rural-reared and urban-reared women physical education majors.

Forty full-time teachers employed by the Albuquerque (New Mexico) Public Schools during the 1969-1970 academic school year were tested for levels of cardio-respiratory fitness and health understanding. A stratified random sampling technique was utilized to obtain ten subjects in each of the following categories: (a) male physical education teachers, (b) female physical education teachers, (c) male non-physical education teachers, and (d) female non-physical education teachers.

The general purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between communicator sensitivity and conversation effectiveness. Conversation effectiveness was measured in two ways: (1) by the conversation satisfaction promoted by an interviewer in an interview; and (2) by the degree of commitment promoted by an interviewer in an interview. Both satisfaction and commitment were measured in terms of the perception of the interviewees. The specific purposes of this study were to apply the findings of this study to the fields of interpersonal communication and teacher-pupil interaction, particularly in the area of teacher preparation in physical education.
