International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Background/Purpose: The people with chronic ankle instability (CAI) exhibit intricate neurophysiological changes, particularly evident during dual-task (DT) perturbations, reflecting altered movement strategies. However, there is limited and conflicting information regarding the relationship of sports performance and risk of injury among people with CAI in DT conditions. The purpose of this study was to compare the difference of sports performance and injury risk among people with and without chronic ankle CAI when performing 45° side-cutting in single task (ST) and DT conditions.

Methods: Forty participants were recruited into CAI (n=20, age: 21.4±1.3years, height: 175.7±8.6cm, body mass: 71.7±12.4kg) or non-CAI (n=20, age: …

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Background/Purpose: Dynamic stability deficit is one of the strongest risk factors for ankle sprains. Proprioception and strength are crucial for maintaining dynamic stability and preventing sprains during sports and daily activities. The mechanisms by which humans maintain anteroposterior (AP) and medial-lateral (ML) stability are different. The correlations of AP and ML dynamic stability with its two factors, namely, proprioception and strength, may explain the recurrent sprains among individuals with functional ankle instability (FAI). The purpose of this project was to investigate the correlations of AP and ML dynamic stability with proprioception and strength within the two populations.

Method: This was …

Methods: This study used the method of literature, mathematical statistics, questionnaire and experiment, and four-way boxing practice as the intervention.

Results: The total score of the cognitive flexibility scale was negatively correlated with the scores of the self-rating depression scale (all P’s < 0.05). The cognitive flexibility of high depression prone high school students was significantly lower than that of low depression prone high school students. The results showed that: (1) In the self-rating depression scale, the total score of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the pre-test (P < 0.05), but there was no significant change in the control group; (2) In the cognitive flexibility scale, the total score and the controllable subscale scores of the experimental group were significantly higher after the test than before the test (P < 0.05), and the scores of the selective subscale after the test were significantly higher than before the test (P < 0.05), but there were no significant changes in the control group; (3) In Stroop color word test, the post-test response of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the pre-test (P < 0.05), while the control group had no significant change (P > 0.05); In the Wisconsin card test, the reaction time of the …
