Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) reforms are transforming education systems across East Africa, yet their effectiveness depends heavily on teacher preparedness, institutional capacity, and policy coherence. This study presents a comparative analysis of CBC implementation in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, drawing on longitudinal data from the Foundation for Learning (F4L) project. Using mixed-methods evidence from teacher educators, student teachers, head teachers, and education officers, the study examines curriculum design, pedagogical practice, inclusivity, gender responsiveness, leadership, and sustainability. Kapwa Across Contexts: Acculturation and Enculturation in Filipino American Identity at Home and in School examines how Filipino American identity is shaped across two primary sites: K–12 schooling and the Filipino American home in Southern California. Centering first-generation Filipino immigrant parents and their U.S.-born second-generation children, this qualitative study is guided by AsianCrit, Culturally Responsive Methodologies (CRM), and Nadal’s Filipino American Identity Model. This study examined the relationship between superintendents’ professional habits and their ability to identify and demonstrate ownership of school culture. Guided by Leader–Member Exchange Theory and Organizational Culture Theory, the research explored whether relational and organizational dynamics influence how accurately superintendents perceive culture within their schools. Since its inception, the chief information officer (CIO) role has become increasingly crucial. Today, the role of the CIO has never been more important. Having CIOs on the leadership table is essential, and that table should include Black IT professionals whose perspectives have long been missing. Yet, Black male chief information officers remain profoundly underrepresented in higher education information technology leadership. Across higher education in the United States, only about three percent of CIOs identify as Black. American schools face teacher shortages in many disciplines and age groups (Darling-Hammond et al., 2023; Learning Policy Institute, 2024). Rural and urban schools, especially those serving low-socioeconomic-status students, feel this shortage most (Goldhaber et al., 2021; Ingersoll et al., 2022). This qualitative transcendental phenomenological study examines how first generation Hispanic doctoral students at a southern Hispanic Serving Institution experience online engagement as a context for generating bonding, bridging, and linking social capital. Semi structured-in-depth interviews with 17 participants explored interactions with instructors, peers, course content, and technology. Analysis followed phenomenological reduction procedures to identify the essence of participants lived experiences. Key findings revealed that instructor presence and responsiveness strengthened bonding and linking capital; peer collaboration fostered belonging and bridging capital; and technology mediated tools reduced transactional distance when paired with clear course design and timely feedback.
