Journal of International Technology and Information Management

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, many hospitals suffered from a surge of some high-risk inpatients needing to be admitted to the ICU. In this study, we propose a method

predicting the likelihood of COVID-19 inpatients’ admission to the ICU within a time frame of 12 hours. Four steps, the Bayesian Ridge Regression-based missing value imputation, the synthesis of training samples by the combination of two rows (the first and another row) of each patient, customized oversampling, and XGBoost classifier, are used for the proposed method. In the experiment, the AUC-ROC and F-score of our method is compared with those of other …

An Integrated Framework On Human-In-The-Loop Risk Analytics, Peng Liu Jan 2023

An Integrated Framework On Human-In-The-Loop Risk Analytics, Peng Liu

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

Risk analytics is an integral component in the overall assessment of the risk profile for potential and existing obligors. For example, credit worthiness is often assessed via the use of scorecards, which are regulatory credit risk models developed based on historical data and domain expertise in banks and financial institutions. A pure statistical model, however, often fails to entertain regulatory requirements on both predictiveness and interpretability at the same time. Instead, practical risk models are developed by incorporating expert opinions within the development process, such as forcing the direction of travel for certain financial factors. In this article, the author …

This project explores how visual rhetoric and linguistic differences such as tone and readability, in financial assistance policy documents may influence community benefit reporting in hospitals as a consequence of patient engagement in the application process.

Visual rhetoric and design, as well as linguistic style variation can have a profound impact on program utilization and financial …

Ads-B Communication Interference In Air Traffic Management, George Ray Jan 2023

Ads-B Communication Interference In Air Traffic Management, George Ray

International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace

Automated Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) provides position and state information about aircraft and is becoming an essential component in the global air traffic management system. ADS-B transponders broadcast this key information on a common frequency to both other aircraft and to secondary surveillance radar systems located at ground stations. Both the aircraft transponders and the ground stations work together to assist in managing the commercial airspace. Since the aircraft transponders all broadcast on the same frequency and are in close proximity there is an apparent risk of interference and the garbling of the communications needed to manage the airspace.

The …
