According to many, the readiness of America's forces deteriorated in the 1990s. In the Air Force, the combat readiness of its fighter aircraft has declined. One of its indicators of combat readiness, the mission capable rate, is used to identify the percentage of aircraft unable to perform their missions. From FY94-FY98, the aggregate total not mission capable rate for maintenance steadily increased from 14% to 18.2% while total not mission capable rate for supply increased from 5.5% to 17.5% between FY86 and FY00. The USAF uses the funding/Availability Multi-Method Allocator for Spares model to forecast these rates for its aircraft. …

The impact the Next Generation Small Loader (NGSL) will have on reducing the mobility footprint has not been thoroughly explored. The global mobility system cannot function without adequate Materiel Handling Equipment (MHE). MHE of the future must be multi-purpose in design and should able to support multiple weapon systems. In addition, it will require less maintenance and be easier to deploy thus making air mobility operations more responsive to customer needs. Current MHE is old and labor intensive. This paper explores the linkage between strategic grouping and performance of the Indian banking sector. Strategic grouping and performance were identified using published financial information for all public sector banks. Grouping of Indian public sector banks following comparable financial strategy – with similar asset quality, operational efficiency and profitability was operationalized using the graphical display method of Co-plot.

From their position in the two dimensional conceptual map, banks with identical financial performance formed strategic groups with significant positive linkage between better groups and their superior financial performance, which showed their inherent homogeneity in business policy decisions. The present study describes and examines trends and differentials in cumulative fertility according to seven socio-economic factors based on data availability and findings from past studies. Data show that fertility is still on the declining trend among Malaysian women. The salient findings of the study reveal that fertility differentials in terms of number of children ever born persist between the following population subgroups: Malays and non-Malays; rural and urban; East region and other regions. The high fertility among Malays is related to delayed termination in childbearing compared to other ethnic groups. Among the non-Malays, the fertility rate of Indian women …

The main aim of this study is to examine the changes in age at first birth among Malaysian women, based on data from the 1994/95 Malaysian Population and Family Survey. Trends and patterns of age at first birth across cohorts are analyzed by using selected socio-demographic variables. Pronounced differentials in age at first birth can be observed across women's educational level and premarital work experience. Age at first birth is lowest among the Malays, those with no schooling and living in rural areas, as well as those who did not work prior to marriage. Much of the differentials in age …

This research paper is to examine the response of aggregate commercial bank lending to money market interest rate changes for the case of Malaysia. The study is based on quarterly data for the period from the first quarter of 1990 to the second quarter of 2000. The results show that the negative one-month and three-month money market interest rate shocks have negative effects on the aggregate commercial bank lending. On the other hand, the positive one-month and three-month money market interest rate shocks have positive effect on the aggregate commercial bank lending. This paper develops and simulates an Overlapping Generations Model (OLG) to investigate the macroeconomic impact of social security. We compare the simulation results of the OLG model with and without social security. Calibrated simulations of both the OLG models with and without social security yield steady states path for macroeconomic variables such as capital stock, productivity output, savings, wages, real interest rates and consumption. This paper contributes to the debate concerning the sources of growth of newly industrializing East Asian economies, of which Malaysia is an example. It provides an empirical analysis of total factor productivity (TFP) in Malaysia for the period of 1971- 1999. This paper finds that the TFP growth is estimated to be around 2% per annum over the last thirty year, somewhat higher than the previous estimates for four Asian Tigers but remain a small fraction of the actual GDP per worker growth. This paper is a pilot study intends to examine the composite critical success factors (CSFs) for implementation of information system (IS), from the perspective of user satisfaction. The composite CSFs are tested for their relationships to IS success and one another in order to evaluate which factors have a direct/indirect impact on IS success. Data were gathered from forty-three (43) respondents representing both Credit Management Division (CMD) and Credit Card Centre (CCC) departments in the headquarters of Hong Leong Bank.
