Model Construction Of Option Pricing Based On Fuzzy Theory, Shang-En Yu, Ming-Yuan Leon Li, Kun-Huang Huarng, Tsung-Hao Chen, Chen-Yuan Chen Oct 2011

Model Construction Of Option Pricing Based On Fuzzy Theory, Shang-En Yu, Ming-Yuan Leon Li, Kun-Huang Huarng, Tsung-Hao Chen, Chen-Yuan Chen

Journal of Marine Science and Technology–Taiwan

Option pricing is a tool that investors often use for the purpose of arbitrage or hedging. However, both the BlackScholes model and the CRR model can only provide a theoretical reference value. The volatility in the CRR model cannot always appear in the precise sense because the financial markets fluctuate from time to time. Hence, the fuzzy volatility is naturally to be considered. The main purpose of this paper is the application of fuzzy sets theory to the CRR model. It is expected that fuzzy volatility, instead of the crisp values conventionally used in the CRR model, can provide reasonable …

An Integrated Fuzzy Topsis Method For Ranking Alternatives And Its Application, Ji-Feng Ding Aug 2011

An Integrated Fuzzy Topsis Method For Ranking Alternatives And Its Application, Ji-Feng Ding

Journal of Marine Science and Technology–Taiwan

The main purpose of this paper is to develop an integrated fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method to improve the quality of decisionmaking for ranking alternatives. The proposed fuzzy TOPSIS method mainly accounts for the classification of criteria, the integrated weights of criteria and sub-criteria, and the performance values of decision matrix. In this model, the criteria are classified into subjective criteria and objective ones. The fuzzy analytic hierarchy process approach and the entropy weighting method are used to solve the subjective weights and objective ones. In addition, the adjusted integration weights are measured …

Bank Efficiency In Selected Asean Countries : Does Size Matters?., Loh Han Chuen Jun 2011

Bank Efficiency In Selected Asean Countries : Does Size Matters?., Loh Han Chuen

Student Works (2010-2019)

This thesis focuses on assessing the bank efficiency and productivity in selected ASEAN countries to determine the relationship between the bank size and bank efficiency. By employing banks from 4 different developing countries in ASEAN countries, namely, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, a two-stage non-parametric technique incorporating non-discretionary variable is used in building the model. The data set obtained to fulfil this study is based on 74 banks located in the 4 different countries over the period of 2005 to 2009. Based on the input and output variables, a bank specific variable which is the bank size determined by the …

Critical Factors Affecting Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation Success., Shahin Dezdar Mar 2011

Critical Factors Affecting Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation Success., Shahin Dezdar

Student Works (2010-2019)

Implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in a company can bring many benefits. However, ERP implementations have been high spending projects with low success rates. International ERP vendors are now trying to extend their market to companies in developing countries. However, little research has been conducted on ERP implementation in developing countries. So, understanding the critical success factors (CSFs) involved in ERP implementation would be of benefit to implementing companies and ERP software vendors. Thus, this research developed and empirically tested a model for ERP implementation success in the context of a developing country, namely Iran. A survey questionnaire …

Introduction: Advances In E-Business Engineering, Ling Li

Information Technology & Decision Sciences Faculty Publications

(First paragraph) E-business is more than just e-commerce. It is one of the most challenging areas for industry and research communities. E-business has evolved from business-to-business, business-to-customer, customer-to-business, customer-to-customer, and business-to-government systems to the integrated and collaborative business services among various information systems and e-marketplaces. In this evolving process, integrated e-business systems and their related supporting platforms have to be rapidly designed and developed in order to meet different requirements. A variety of e-business engineering paradigms and technologies have been developed to tackle these challenges. There are many research issues needed to be addressed. These issues include heterogeneous services integration, …

2010 M&A Update, Carol M. Sanchez, Christina Seeber, Stephen R. Goldberg

Peer Reviewed Articles

Most of 2009 was slow for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), due to financial turmoil and economic uncertainty that carried over from late 2008. But the deal market rebounded in the fourth quarter of 2009 and 2010 appears to be much better for M&A than 2009. Yet while the global economy shows signs of recovery, and many buyers and sellers are flush with cash, M&A activity may begin slowly in the United States in 2011 due to uncertainty about the business outlook and potential tax changes. In this article, we briefly review M&A activity in the first half of 2010, and …

Determinants Of E-Commerce Adoption Among Malaysian Smes., Khairul Anwar Mohamad Zaki Jan 2011

Determinants Of E-Commerce Adoption Among Malaysian Smes., Khairul Anwar Mohamad Zaki

Student Works (2010-2019)

The use of electronic commerce (e-commerce) enables Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to improve their efficiency and competitive advantage. Although researchers have been increasingly exploring and predicting ecommerce adoption among SMEs in other developing countries, there is still a limited understanding of the behaviour of Malaysian SMEs towards e-commerce technologies adoption. As in many other countries, the SME sector constitutes the majority of business activities in Malaysia, and their contribution to Malaysian economy is very significant. Yet, very little research on Malaysian SMEs has taken a holistic view of the e-commerce adoption factors, from technological, organisational and environmental contexts. This …

Identification Of Optimal Currency Areas In East Asia : A Clustering Approach., Quah Chee Heong Jan 2011

Identification Of Optimal Currency Areas In East Asia : A Clustering Approach., Quah Chee Heong

Student Works (2010-2019)

Today, a number of the fastest growing and largest economies in the world are located in East Asia. The theme of a monetary union in East Asia which had been in the limelight for years following the 1997–98 Asian crisis has recently revived due to the global economic crisis. Viewed in this light, this study attempts to assess the appropriateness of monetary integration among the East Asian economies according to the theory of optimum currency areas (OCA) criteria, operationalized through the use of cluster analysis. Besides the OCA criteria, the convergence criteria of the Maastricht Treaty are also examined. The …
