When The System Misreads The Working Caregiver: The Caring Elasticity Index And The Governance Of Participation Under Constraint, Rob E. Carpenter, Brandy Dial, Debaro Huyler, Andrew Krouse, Judy Sun

Human Resource Development Faculty Publications and Presentations

Organizations increasingly use digitally captured behavioral traces to infer engagement, performance, and participation. Yet visible activity is an imperfect proxy for underlying capability, particularly when structural constraints reorganize when and how participation occurs. Using working multigenerational caregivers as a theoretically revealing case, this paper develops a governance-centered account of how constraint-shaped participation variance in presence, timing, and pacing may be misclassified as disengagement within proxy-based organizational systems. We theorize this failure as a self-reinforcing control loop in which misclassification activates penalty-centered responses that further disrupt participation and contribute to capability-flow leakage. To address this inference-to-action failure, we specify the Caring …

Harnessing Artificial Intelligence For Real-Time Innovation In Upstream Oil And Gas: A Data-Driven Framework For Early Detection Of Lost Circulation Incidents, Gnana Allan Whinney Gnanapragasam

Journal of Global Management Research

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are reshaping upstream oil and gas operations, yet their value depends less on algorithmic sophistication than on converting heterogeneous sensor streams into timely operational decisions. This study develops and evaluates an AI-enabled framework for early detection of lost circulation incidents (LCIs) during drilling, positioning this safety-critical use case within the broader innovation architecture of upstream operations. Uncontrolled drilling-fluid losses generate non-productive time, well-control risk, and substantial cost. The empirical component uses historical surface drilling data from approximately 200 wells that experienced severe or total losses, recorded at an average frequency of 0.2 Hz (one …

Foreign Pedagogy In Education: Theoretical Foundations, Cross-Cultural Dynamics, And Implications For Global Learning, Chitra Venugopal, Prabhakar Rontala Subramaniam

Journal of Global Management Research

This conceptual paper examines foreign pedagogy as a critical lens for understanding how teaching philosophies, instructional strategies, and educational values travel across cultural and national boundaries. Drawing on comparative education, sociocultural theory, and postcolonial scholarship, the paper investigates the processes by which pedagogical models are borrowed, adapted, or imposed between educational systems. It argues that foreign pedagogy is not a neutral transfer of knowledge but a deeply ideological practice shaped by power, cultural epistemology, and institutional context. The paper identifies five central themes: the philosophical roots of major global pedagogical traditions, the mechanisms of pedagogical transfer and borrowing, the tensions …

Financial Leverage And Firm Performance: An Empirical Review And Analysis, Iqbal Md. M Islam

Journal of Global Business Insights

This paper examines the dual impact of financial leverage on corporate performance by analyzing empirical data across developed and developing nations, industries, and different periods. Leverage can enhance profitability through tax benefits and improved efficiency, but it also maximizes financial risk, making its effects highly context dependent. Theoretical frameworks such as the Trade-off Theory, Modigliani-Miller Theorem, Agency Theory, and Pecking Order Theory offer diverse perspectives on how debt influences firm outcomes. Empirical findings reveal mixed results; moderate leverage may lower capital costs and boost performance, whereas unnecessary debt can lead to financial distress. Disparities emerge between developed and developing economies. …
