Implementing Green Roofs On Movie Theaters And Shopping Centers: Business Cases In Profitable Sustainability, Ryan J. Miller

This thesis presents the business case for installing green roofs on movie theaters and shopping centers. These businesses can then derive increased profits from the environmental benefits of reduced energy use and increased stormwater retention. After presenting the basic design and benefits of a green roof, the thesis develops stand-alone business plans for a movie theater and shopping center. The author finds that green roofs are a profitable sustainability solution for the commercial enterprise.

Small business owners and small business managers tend to favor different information technology (IT) governance structures. Such differences can lead to ineffective management and control of IT in small businesses. The purpose of this correlational study was to examine the extent and nature of the association between owner-manager separation in small businesses and the structure of IT governance in the businesses. Agency theory formed the theoretical framework of this study. Data were collected using a web-based survey and randomly sampled 3,697 small business owners and managers located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In 2012, genetically-modified crops reached 170 million hectares around the globe. The ability to patent basic forms of life such as plant properties and the legal history of those intellectual property rights gives biotechnological companies such as Monsanto immense power in the vital agricultural sector. This article outlines the concerns over genetically-modified products and the implications for follow-on advancements within biotechnology by using Monsanto as a case study. Is the degree of external economies (at the industry level) higher than the degree of internal increasing returns (at the firm level)? If so, what is the exact source of this difference? In the general equilibrium model in which firms producing final goods choose the degree of specialization of their technologies, external economies arise from the usage of intermediate inputs and the existence of internal increasing returns. International Trade With Increasing Returns In The Transportation Sector, Haiwen Zhou

In this general equilibrium framework, the transportation sector is modeled as a distinct sector with increasing returns. A more advanced technology has a higher fixed cost but a lower marginal cost of production. Even with both manufacturing firms and transportation firms engaged in oligopolistic competition and optimally choosing their technologies, the model is tractable and results are derived analytically. Technology adoptions in the manufacturing sector and transportation sector are reinforcing, and multiple equilibria may exist. Firms choose more advanced technologies and the prices decrease when the size of the population is larger.

This study explores the current state of innovation and high-tech entrepreneurial initiatives in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Previous research showed that institutions’ environment, faculty empowerment, organizational trust, early stage capital, innovation centers and innovative teaching practice had a major effect to support innovation and foster tech-entrepreneurship. We present our conceptual model. The final section explains the current state of research and implications for future research are discussed.

We show the effects of product differentiation and product market competition on technology licensing by an outside innovator. For a certain range of product differentiation, both the innovator and the society prefer royalty licensing compared to auction (or fixed-fee), irrespective of Cournot and Bertrand competitions, if the number of potential licensees is sufficiently large. Hence, for such a range of product differentiation, neither the innovator nor the antitrust authority requires information about the type of product market competition in choosing the type of the licensing contract.

This paper considers a sourcing problem faced by a manufacturer who outsources the manufacturing of a product to one of several competing suppliers, whose cost and quality capabilities are unknown. We consider a two-stage sourcing process in which the first stage is the qualification stage, while the second stage is the supplier selection stage. In the first stage, the manufacturer exerts effort to learn about the quality level of each of the suppliers and then must determine the set of qualified suppliers, subject to some tolerance for error. บริการสุขภาพมีการปรับตัวตามกระแสโลกาภิวัฒน์ คุณภาพบริการได้กลายมาเป็นกลยุทธ์ที่สำคัญในการสร้างความเปรียบในการแข่งขันขององค์กรที่ให้บริการสุขภาพในปัจจุบัน วัตถุประสงค์ของวิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้เพื่อศึกษา พัฒนาตัวแบบและระบบนวัตกรรมการวัดความพึงพอใจคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาล (HSQ-MS) เพื่อศึกษาว่าคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาลมีอิทธิพลต่อความพึงพอใจบริการ และส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมการรับบริการ การวิจัยเริ่มจากการศึกษาแนวคิดคุณภาพบริการทางด้านการตลาดของ Groonroos (1984) และ Parazuraman et.al.(1988) และคุณภาพบริการทางการแพทย์ของ Donabedian (1988) ผนวกเข้ากับการรับรู้คุณภาพบริการในมุมมองผู้รับบริการและแนวคิดเรื่องความพึงพอใจผู้ป่วย ซึ่งเป็นการนำแนวคิดคุณภาพในมุมมองผู้ให้บริการและผู้รับบริการมาพัฒนาเป็นกรอบแนวคิดพื้นฐาน และนำเสนอโครงสร้างการวัดความพึงพอใจคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาล โดยศึกษาองค์ประกอบย่อยภายใต้มิติคุณภาพของการวัดความพึงพอใจคุณภาพบริการ ด้วยตัวแบบคาโน เพื่อจัดแบ่งประเภทความสำคัญคุณลักษณะคุณภาพที่ทำให้เกิดความพึงพอใจในมุมมองของผู้รับบริการ และพบว่าปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อความพึงพอใจผู้รับบริการในทุกคุณลักษณะคุณภาพอย่างมีนัยสำคัญคือความแตกต่างของเชื้อชาติ เมื่อได้คุณลักษณะคุณภาพภายใต้องค์ประกอบมิติคุณภาพแล้ว จึงนำแนวคิดตัวแบบการวัดความพึงพอใจคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาล ไปศึกษาในกลุ่มผู้เชี่ยวชาญคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาลด้วย เดลไฟล์เทคนิค เพื่อจัดกลุ่มมิติคุณภาพของตัวแบบการวัดความพึงพอใจคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาล ได้องค์ประกอบมิติคุณภาพ 6 ด้านคือ มิติคุณภาพด้านสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวก มิติคุณภาพด้านบุคลากร มิติคุณภาพด้านการบริการในเชิงวิชาชีพ มิติคุณภาพด้านบริการหลักของโรงพยาบาล (ผลิตภัณฑ์) มิติคุณภาพด้านกระบวนการ และมิติคุณภาพด้านประสิทธิผลกระบวนการ ในขั้นตอนสุดท้าย ตัวแบบการวัดความพึงพอใจคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาล นี้ได้นำไปปรับปรุงและยืนยันตัวแบบในด้านโมเดลการวัด และโมเดลโครงสร้างโดยใช้ การวิเคราะห์สมการโครงสร้าง ตัวแบบการวัดความพึงพอใจคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาล สุดท้ายประกอบด้วย มิติคุณภาพ 6 มิติและคุณลักษณะคุณภาพ 28 ข้อ ได้รับการยืนยันว่าโมเดลการวัดมีความตรงเชิงภาวะสันนิษฐาน ความน่าเชื่อถือ และมีดัชนีความสอดคล้องซึ่งยืนยันตัวแบบที่นำเสนอซึ่งทำให้ได้ ตัวแบบการวัดคุณภาพบริการที่ต่างจากมุมมองด้านการตลาดของ Parazuraman ซึ่งมีความชัดเจนในมิติของบริการหลักซึ่งเป็นความเชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะด้านของบริการนั้นโดยเฉพาะในเชิงวิชาชีพของบริการที่ต้องการความน่าเชื่อถือระดับสูง อีกทั้งการรับรู้คุณภาพบริการซึ่งอาจไม่มีความคาดหวังในบริการนั้นมาก่อนเนื่องจากคนทั่วไปอาจไม่มีความรู้ความเข้าใจในบริการที่มีความฉพาะเจาะจง ผลลัพธ์บริการมีการศึกษาเพิ่มเติมให้มีความชัดเจนมากขึ้นเมื่อเปรียบเทียบจากการศึกษาของ Parazuraman and Groonroos ซึ่งในทางการแพทย์ตามแนวคิดของ Donabedian ได้ปรับเอาแนวคิดการรับรู้คุณภาพบริการของผู้ป่วยจากการศึกษาทางด้านการตลาดกลายเป็นประสิทธิผลบริการที่ผู้ป่วยสามารถรับรู้และประเมินได้ นอกจากนั้นการศึกษายังพบว่า คุณภาพบริการส่งผลต่อความพึงพอใจผู้รับบริการอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ (β=0.99) และความพึงพอใจผู้รับบริการส่งผลต่อความตั้งใจพฤติกรรมการรับบริการ อย่างมีนัยสำคัญ (β =0.92) ตัวแบบนี้จึงได้นำมาใช้ในการพัฒนาระบบนวัตกรรมการวัดความพึงพอใจคุณภาพบริการโรงพยาบาล (HSQ-MS) เพื่อช่วยให้โรงพยาบาลสามารถใช้ในการวัดคุณภาพบริการ การติดตามควบคุมประสิทธิภาพบริการ และการวางแผนปรับปรุงพัฒนาอย่างเหมาะสม

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1. ศึกษาทฤษฎีและต้นแบบของการพัฒนากระบวนการ 2. การพัฒนานวัตกรรมต้นแบบของกระบวนการพัฒนานวัตกรรมกระบวนการสำหรับบริการสินไหมทดแทนธุรกิจประกันภัยรถยนต์ในประเทศไทย 3. ศึกษาการยอมรับการใช้งานของนวัตกรรมต้นแบบ 4. การนำนวัตกรรมต้นแบบไปสู่ธุรกิจเชิงพาณิชย์ วิธีวิจัยแบ่งออกเป็น 4 ระยะที่ 1 (Phase) คือ การสร้างนวัตกรรมต้นแบบจำลอง; โดยการทบทวนวรรณกรรมและการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกึ่งโครงสร้างกับผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับบริหารจำนวน 10 คนจากบริษัทประกันภัยและประกันชีวิตชั้นนำอันดับ 1 ใน 10 สถาบันการเงินและบริษัทพัฒนาระบบให้ประกันภัย ขั้นตอน; ระยะที่ 2 (Phase II) การพัฒนานวัตกรรมต้นแบบจำลองและปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อผลสำเร็จในการนำนวัตกรรมต้นแบบไปสู่การปฏิบัติ โดยนำนวัตกรรมต้นแบบเพื่อการวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการ (Action Research) 3 กรณีศึกษาและศึกษาวิจัยปัจจัยสำคัญที่มีผลต่อสำเร็จโดยใช้สอบถามกับกลุ่มประชากร 50 คน การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้ระบบ SPSS ศึกษาวิเคราะห์ปัจจัย (Factor Analysis) โดยโปรแกรม AMOS; ระยะที่ 3 (Phase III) การปรับปรุงนวัตกรรมต้นแบบและการทดสอบการยอมรับเพื่อการใช้งาน (TAM) โดยใช้แบบสอบถามและสัมภาษณ์กับสมาชิกของทีมงานที่นำนวัตกรรมต้นแบบวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการจำนวน 7 ราย; ระยะที่ 4 (Phase IV) การศึกษาการไปสู่ธุรกิจการพาณิชย์และสรุปผลวิจัย อภิปรายผล เสนอแนะและการศึกษาวิจัยในอนาคต ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นวัตกรรมต้นแบบของกระบวนการพัฒนานวัตกรรมกระบวนการสำหรับสินไหมทดแทนธุรกิจประกันภัยรถยนต์ในประเทศไทย ได้รับการยอมรับเพื่อใช้งานจริงจากกลุ่มประชากรเป้าหมาย ทั้งหมดด้วยเหตุผลคือ เข้าใจง่าย มีขั้นตอนการทำงานชัดเจนเข้าใจง่าย สามารถนำไปใช้ได้จริง และสามารถสร้างนวัตกรรมได้ จากการวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการ (Action Research) พบว่า เกิดความเร็ว (Speed) ในการพิจารณาอนุมัติสินไหมทดแทนประกันภัยรถยนต์ได้เกิดกว่า 79% มีคุณภาพ (Quality) ในการให้บริการและความถูกต้อง (Accuracy) จนสามารถสร้างความพึงพอใจให้กับลูกค้า (Customer Satisfaction) ในระยะยาว สามารถการใช้จริงเพื่อพลิกโฉมให้เกิดนวัตกรรมการให้บริการ (Service Innovation) ในธุรกิจประกันภัยไทยต่อไป

Construction workers have completed much of the shell for the Companion Building, a three-story building just north of and adjacent to the former 4-H Building on what used to be State Fair Park. They’ve also nearly finished renovating the 4-H Building, which will include a conference center and office and research space.
