A representational predicament for an employee is a negative experience in which that employee believes that a key authority, such as his/her supervisor, has unfavorable perceptions about himself/herself caused by misconception, bias, or ignorance. That implies he/she is experiencing injustice at the workplace. Drawing for underlying explanations on the theories of interactional justice and equity, this study examines, through quantitative and qualitative methods, how autocratic leadership influences subordinates’ representational predicaments and in turn adversely affects subordinates’ behaviors in the workplace. Herding And Anchoring In Macroeconomic Forecasts: The Case Of The Pmi, John B. Broughton, Bento J. Lobo

We test if analysts display multiple biases in forecasting the Institute for Supply Management’s (ISM) manufacturing Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI). We adopt a test that does not require knowledge of the forecaster’s prior information set and is robust to rational clustering, correlated forecast errors and outliers. We find that analysts forecast the PMI poorly and display multiple biases when forecasting. In particular, forecasters anti-herd and anti-anchor. Anti-herding supports a reputation-based notion that forecasters are rewarded not only for forecast accuracy but also for being the best forecast at a single point in time. This doctoral research project examined perceptual gaps of service quality and value in the context of higher education. The researcher performed quantitative analysis of survey data gathered from students at a small, Midwestern Bible college. Students self-selected to participate in this research project and, using class status as an independent variable, were grouped as Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. Additionally, based on the literature review, the researcher used the Access variable as the primary determinant of service quality and the Functional Value variable as the primary determinant of value. A firm's weighted average cost of capital is an integral component in capital budgeting decisions and in assessment of the firm's enterprise and equity value. Estimation of the cost of equity is a key component in determining the overall cost of capital. The calculation of the cost of equity for U.S. based corporations is relatively straightforward and is most often estimated as a function of the U.S. risk-free rate, the firm's beta value, and an estimate of the average risk premium associated with equity investments compared to risk free assets. This paper highlights how criteria for validity that are usually utilized within quantitative research can be used to provide further validation to fully qualitative research. In this case, the qualitative research utilizes the grounded theory method. This research used the grounded theory to investigate leadership processes in the substantive setting of the Islamic organizations in Australia. The qualitative analysis of qualitative data generated a number of categories that were conceptually unique. Voice Behavior: The Role Of Perceived Support And Psychological Ownership, Andin Andiyasari, Rudolf W. Matindas, Corrina D. Riantoputra

The South East Asian Journal of Management

This study aims to delineate the key socio-emotional needs important for voice behavior. To do this, we examine individual and contextual factors as mechanisms underlying how psychological ownership and perceived support influence employee voice behavior. Employing survey research of 210 employees from two big companies in Indonesia, analyses revealed that perceived supervisor support had direct and indirect effects on voice behavior, and job-based psychological ownership is a crucial mediator of the relationship between organization-based psychological ownership and perceived supervisor support on voice behavior.
