Relationship Satisfaction As A Mediator Between Attachment And Quality Of Life, Emma Elsbecker, Dilbur D. Arsiwalla

The goal of this study was to examine whether relationship satisfaction mediated the association between attachment and quality of life. The study included 314 participants who reported on visual imagery, emotional regulation, and relationship satisfaction. Our original hypothesis was supported using the attachment scales, which yielded all significant mediations in the anxiety, closeness, dependence, and avoidance categories. However, further research is needed to better understand the rationale behind why better attachment styles increase quality of life as well as examining relationship satisfaction as a mediator between attachment and quality of life.

The goal of this study was to examine if poor visual imagery (i.e., aphantasia) moderated the link between emotional regulation and relationship satisfaction. We had 314 participants report on a survey about visual imagery, emotional regulation, and relationship satisfaction. Our original hypothesis was supported using the overall emotion regulation scale as well as five of the six different subscales of emotion regulation. However, further research is needed to better understand the rationale behind why aphantasia moderates this relationship.

Past literature found that family acceptance of gender identity and sexual orientation of their family members who were coming out affects their struggle in society, (Flores et al., 2020), which can be themed with Inclusion, Perceived Discrimination, and Public Attitude. Background research found that perceived acceptance by those close to queer individuals increased perceived acceptance by society around them (Golriz, 2021). The present study investigated how family acceptance affected religious community acceptance and the research question of how does an individual's coming out experience affect their acceptance by others.

We researched caregiver emotions during the simulation experience at the Dementia Simulation House.

Our research question was: How do the emotions of family caregivers differ from the emotions of non-caregivers during the simulation?

We predicted that caregivers will experience emotions more strongly than other participants. Family caregivers may have a deep emotional bond with their loved ones who have dementia. This personal connection may amplify their emotional responses during simulations, as they may vividly recall their own caregiving experiences.

Assessing Middle Eastern American Attitudes Towards Substance Use Disorders

Introduction:

Substance use disorders (SUD) among Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) populations remain largely understudied, despite evidence of high prevalence rates and lower rates of treatment engagement. Unique cultural conceptualizations and beliefs surrounding substance use disorders may perpetuate stigma, further contributing to disparities in access to and utilization of treatment services. This study aims to explore the attitudes and perspectives of individuals from MENA communities regarding substance use disorders, with the goal of identifying and addressing barriers to treatment.

This project uses a qualitative media analysis to look at toxic leadership through a comparative study of two characters: Scar, villainous usurper from “The Lion King,” and Homelander, publicly revered leader of superheroes and private psychopath from “The Boys.” These characters, despite their distinct contexts, exhibit toxic leadership styles. Drawing upon Haslam et al.’s (2020) "The New Psychology of Leadership," this analysis examines the context of their rule, their manipulation of identity, and their impact on followers. Considering the new age of marketing, consumer reactions and interactions with marketing have drastically changed and flexed over the decades. The most recent hit revelation is AI marketing, specifically AI-generated images, and the worry that it brings to not only marketing specialists but to the whole community. Within other studies, there is often mention of an emotional connection to images used in advertisements (among videos, media, etc.) through various methods such as senses, loyalty, connection, and empathy. This study examines the experiences of Ukrainian educators living in non-occupied territories during wartime. The purpose of this study was to identify common patterns in the time of day of meditation associated with long-term meditation app use to assess the importance of temporal consistency for maintaining meditation over time. Beyond The Sum: A Network Analysis Of Adverse Childhood Experiences And Behavioral Outcomes In Justice-Involved Youth, Jennifer Yang

This dissertation examines gender-specific patterns of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) among justice-involved youth using network analysis. Despite experiencing higher rates of childhood adversity, female youth show lower recidivism rates than males, presenting an empirical paradox. Using a sample of 19,454 justice-involved youth (75% male), this study applies novel network methods to understand how ACEs and behavioral outcomes are organized across gender. Findings reveal distinct network architectures: female youth maintain more integrated but vulnerable networks, while males show more compartmentalized but stable structures. Female recidivists demonstrate systematic network destabilization when compared to non-recidivists, characterized by a 39% reduction in network density, …

It is difficult to express integral consciousness using ordinary language because of the inherent tendency of language to separate and distinguish. Jean Gebser, in The Ever-Present Origin, suggested concepts such as transparency and diaphaneity as ways to access integral consciousness, and the Gnostic text The Thunder, Perfect Mind (TPM) is written from the perspective of a being with integral consciousness. I use Jean Gebser’s concepts of transparency and diaphaneity to explicate TPM, an enigmatic, paradoxical poem in the Nag Hammadi Library. Mobile sensing technology allows automated behavior shaping routines to be incorporated into health behavior interventions and other settings. In previous work, a computational model was built to investigate how to best arrange automatic behavior shaping procedures, but the degree to which this model reflects actual human behavior is not known.
